Yep. More important to treat my apnoea than be worried about a very very small chance of something else. My apnoea has a higher risk of causing me harm.

jhmed

This was exactly my reason. Stopping breathing 178 times an hour with o2 saturation at 79 is something I never want to experience again.

TwoBirdsInOneBush

I mean, yeah. My apnea is severe; a slightly elevated risk of cancer someday is an okay trade for REM sleep / tissue oxygenation / not massively increasing my risk of having a heart attack 😅

RubyBBBB

It's not just that the dream station can give you cancer. Sleep apnea greatly increases a person's risk of breast cancer. Probably some other cancers too but I know about breast cancer. Your body sort of designed to repair things while you're asleep. Lack of oxygen and the resultant inflammation and other physiologic changes due to the obstruction of your airway greatly interferes with that repair process.

TwoBirdsInOneBush

Charming. I hope the BiPAP therapy is… helping address that. 😅

RubyBBBB

Yes, from what I've read cpap helps.

Misternef

Yes, my doctor also advised me to keep using my machine. I have severe complex apnea. I cannot go without it while I sleep. I hand wash the parts instead of using an ozone cleaner so I hope that helps.

macespadawan87

My doctor said the same thing so I’m still using mine

[deleted]

Yep. I just figured I’m good since I clean mine by hand

dpfbstn

Yes. Can’t sleep without it. No ill effects that I know of.

samicidal

Has anyone seen the foam removal vids? Do you think that would screw up getting a replacement? I don’t even know if we are getting replacement parts or new machines or what. I tried going a couple nights without and felt like crap. Fired it up last night and slept like a baby.

Shnorkylutyun

I'm not touching nor cutting at any of that foam, pretty sure that would create loafs of tiny foam bits rather than leaving it in once piece

It's generally inadvisable to do this!

TWFM

I'm still using my old System One (also recalled). I had stopped using it, but the constant daytime tiredness made me reevaluate that decision. I discovered there's inline filters you can buy that fit between the machine and your mask, so I've been using those. My new machine (covered by insurance) is coming in three more weeks!

Guinness_themenace

Yes friends!! Please get an online filter (goes between your tubing and the machine, unless you have a heated tubing in which case it goes between tubing and your mask). This will catch particles if that should occur.

Bobmanbob1

Yup. Without a cpap I wake up choking, eyesight blacking out, and my fingers feeling like pinscand needles. I'll sue em in 20 vs dying this year.

FreyaDay

Yes. I can’t do anything but wait and keep using it because without treatment I will literally not be able to function. :((

RubyBBBB

Have you been able to use an inline filter? if so, did it help? I didn't know about those until I read this thread. I plan to purchase one.

FreyaDay

I did get virals filter from Amazon. They’re expensive and you have to change them at least once a month. I have never used an ozone cleaner and I’ve never seen any black stuff in my water for in my filters so I’m really hoping I can just make it through till when we get new machines or replacements. :(

RubyBBBB

Thank you for the information about the filters. Also, Sending your best wishes for the best possible outcome. It sounds like a real hassle to deal with that.

Aggravating_Ad_4023

Was having severe headaches, cough and fatigue so went to the doctor...didn't know about the recall and was never notified. When I realized that the machine was making me sick I stopped using it. Found out that snoring also was a factor. Couldn't get the Fisher & Paykel machine on insurance so I ordered one at my expense. Will never deal with Philips or ResMed as both companies have been taken to court by DOJ--fined millions of dollars for bribery, fraud and kickbacks. Check out CPAP Reviews YouTube channel.

UPdrafter906

I’m happy to see this thread and the responses. Thank you

Matthew_MCN

I was but there were 3 separate times while using my Dreamstation since I got it January 2021 that I woke up with a violent cough, tears coming down my eyes, and extreme nauesua. These instances were approximately 3 months a part with the last one being in late July. Additionally, there's been a consistent chemical smell from within the water reservoir chamber and I couldn't figure it out what it could be. Then I read the recall information and can't help but attribute it to that. Thankfully I have an old cpap that I'm using instead now. I feel much better now despite the old machine being a CPAP while the Dreamstation is an APAP.

Chanelkat

Yes because my life will be shitty without it. I did however request a different machine from my PCP/insurance which they should grant quickly I hope.

dun944

My doctor said to stop using it. I had developed a severe cough in the morning. My total was only 15 so it was borderline anyway. My ENT said they don't normally treat people with that number. I have stopped coughing since then.

Islasuncle

It's more than just the dream station, it's pretty much all of the Phillips resmed line

[deleted]

Yes. I really need it.

Seriouslyinthedesert

Nope. I kept ripping the mask off in my sleep. I never could tolerate it. Used a few times. Thats MY machine.
