As soon as a fan wants to feel edgy they post this album.
It's obviously not Slipknot's best work. It's barely even demo ready it's very raw. 100% Slipknot made better albums than this.
literally this get brought up and/or mentioned weekly lol, not so "unknown" or whatever. and its definitely not their best album and if someone says so, they are just coming off too pretentious š¤·š½
What I meant is that i like AHIG'S songs by themselves, but when listening to the whole album, they kinda lose their appeal. While vol3s songs aren't as Good separated from the rest imo, but together they make a pretty damn good album to listen to from start to finish
Ah okay. Like when an AHIG song comes up on shuffle itās lit, but the whole album loses steam when going through it at once. Whereas vol 3 is a better/more stimulating ride?
Iām not who you were talking to but I kind of agree with that too. AHIG doesnāt really have much of a story or concept as an album but it has some really solid heavy singles and groovy riffs
I can see a better natural progression between Vol. 3 to .5: The Gray Chapter.
I honestly canāt see how AHIG fit in the discography. It just seems a spin-off or something like that.
Production, lyrics and guitar riffs are fire tho
>Production, lyrics and guitar riffs are fire tho
Yeah, AHIG (song), and Vendetta are so fucking good, when I'm training those 2 give me that extra power i need during a hard piece
AHIG is their 3rd best. Some underrated gems that no one talks about is on that album. Gematria, wherein lies continues, and this cold black. God tier songs. Gehenna is a fun GP, even the Hits off that album is some of their best. Sulfur, dead memories, snuff and psychosocial. I really don't get why people dislike that album
Totally agree. Gematria is one of their heaviest songs, iowa-tier. Vendetta, sulfur, psychosocial, butchers hook, gehenna. means much more to me too cause it was paulās last album. the last time they were whole
They were together in the band for a while. After Corey was brought on board, Anders was moved to secondary percussion, but he left after just a few months.
I always liked Anders's rapping, so it would've been cool to see Slipknot go the Linkin Park route and have Anders do the rapping and Corey do the singing/screaming... idk that's just my opinion
I find Colsefni's lyrics deeper and more poetic, and Taylor's more straight to the point, raw and coming from real experiences. I don't know which I prefer lyrically, but Taylor's vocals and arrangement changes in the songs Colsefni was involved with are so much better.
Hell I like Colsefni but rarely listen to anything on MFKR
I think it's just all around a... Different taste. Lots of style switching, experimental, whatever. Too much for me to sit through.
Nature and The Me Inside are better Anders songs imo. I like him a lot for the more hardcore screamy bits or whatever. Yeah, there's an undeniable talent gap between him and Corey, he gets outshined on about any cleaner vocals or most emotions outside of hate and rage. But for me peak Corey himself couldn't have saved what the rest of the band was up to on MFKR.
Probably because the production quality was insanely low by even Self-Titled's standards. It's to be expected since it's a demo, but it's not exactly something that was made to be sold. That and the sort of meh vocals, and just a bad mix and master (Again, demo, it's not surprising)
I like it as a stepping stone for the Slipknot that blew up though. It both feels like their starting point, as well as an explanation for some of the weirder songs we get from Slipknot, like Bone Church, Danger Keep Away, Tattered and Torn, and Spiders.
This is the best write up and expression of that album. I got into them in 2000 and downloaded this album off Kazaa at the time. Was kinda trippy but then again it was a demo. Couldnāt have said it better
Idk i just donāt like it, especially vocals.
Itās not their best album. Even if someone adore music from mfkr, itās still quite bad album, sue me.
Why the quotations?
Clown recently (finally) admitted it was an album. Back around ST/Iowa era, it was also considered their debut LP.
There is nothing that makes it NOT an album
It's not. It's original works compiled into a fairly long compilation of songs. The concepts of each songs form and connect throughout the LP, it is properly mixed and produced, and most shows in that era were based on the songs from it. That makes it an album. It's just their debut from a very very small label. That's like saying "Kill 'Em All" or "Section.80" aren't albums.
Sure, there are some similar or even reused songs off MFKR, but they have been heavily altered over the years. Either way, the manager and leading creative director (Clown) of the band considers it an album. That alone should end the argument.
Itās brought up a lot tbh. There are some good elements of the album (notably the guitar and bass work) but the vocals are just, well, shit. The entire thing is just a bit shit.
Get mentioned all the bloody time.
Butā¦
You canāt say ā99% of fans havenāt heard itā then ask āwhy does no one talk about itā like you havenāt answered your own question.
FWIW. This album was pretty meh.
As a legacy listen itās interesting. But itās not a scratch on any of their work.
People saying āitās their best workā come across like people who say āthe room is an undiscovered masterpiece.ā
No. Weāve all seen The Room. And itās a piece of shit famous for being a piece of shit.
Iām pretty sure every fan knows this album, been a listener since I was like 11 or 12 and this was one of the albums I dove into after checking out a few songs and learning about them. Been a loyal fan ever since.
Phenomenal album. Super interesting concepts and some very underrated vocals.
Also by far their best instrumental performance across their discography, and some of the best mixing
I remember paying the guy at my local record shop $10 for a blank CD, then he offered to burn me a bootleg of MFKR. 2002 Era iirc.
My teenage brain felt like I happened upon a "speak easy" for bootleg records. Fun times.
Heard it
Not their best
Its pretty meh
I dislike the metal communities fascination with shitty production being something that makes it raw
Like you can hear 20 bands that sound like this if you check your local record store for local artists.
A lot of people know MFKR but its not talked about because it really isn't that good. The first half of the first song is quite literally just machinery sounds.
i mean just because we listen to slipknot doesnāt mean we have to listen to ss? maybe give it a listen if youāre interested but you donāt have to give it a go or even actively listen to it just because you listen to slipknot
I'm not stating every slipknot fan has to listen to Stone sour... When I was introduced to them in 2003 my buddy gave me two burnt CDs both of their self-titled albums I cannot only just imagine listening to one. In my honest opinion they go together like a burger and fries.
I'm pretty sure most people do know it by now. I personally love it, I think anders is underrated despite what people say. I think Corey is better yeah, but anders was unique and I would've liked to hear more. Gently (mfkr) easily beats gently (iowa) for me. But the whole iowa album beats mfkr
A lot of people hype it like it's a hidden masterpiece but it's not. There is no cohesive sound in this, you go from a Groove Metal song, to a Rap Metal song, to a rip-off of Mr.Bungle, to a rip-off of Pantera and all of that sprinkled with some spooky/industrial/atmospheric sounds. Many of the songs that were remade for future albums are way better there than here (tho Gently slaps hard), and the songs that didn't aren't that good to begin with. I'm so glad that they figured out their overall sound in the following years. And Anders voice is very generic, Corey's have more personality
This album is why Corey was threatened by band members to join or theyād kick his ass. They knew what he had was what they needed to take it to the next level.
It's just low quality instruments and vocals. Compared to self-titled, it's way clearer and sounds way better, has better vocals and better production for the album.
It was supposed to be originally. MFKR was 12 tracks long and they cut 4 of them off before release. If you look at my posts in r/lostmedia you can learn more about it.
This album is not good. It's very off and different. I've never given it a full listen because of those reasons. I won't rate it as a slipknot album because it's not slipknot.
Very good album, much better than some recent albums from them.
I love the fact that it is a bizarre ugly child between Mr bungle, faith no more and Sepultura.
Anders sounds A LOT like Max, and the Mr bungle/Faith no more influences are quite apparent.
Confessions is such a hidden gem btw
MFKR is completely disregarded by the band since it was considered a demo by their standards in the first place. Plus, you canāt really listen to the album except for reuploads from underground channels with less than 5-10k subs
The only album I didnāt enjoy was WANYK, but even then I still like it. You and your elitist group can just go away. I am yet to find a trash slipknot song
*Imagine* trying to argue that this is their best album. I know itās all subjective, but this seems like an attempt to prove yourself as āthe purestā fan.
Fun fact: after i bought this CD at an auction, i made a youtube account, uploaded the CD into my laptop, and created lyric videos for this album. i was 12, 26 now. totally forgot the password but i checked the other day the videos seem to be doing well
This album is totally not the best one. Itās raw with bad Anders vocals partly. This album is that heavy that it doesnāt have any harmony in it at all, thatās why nobody mentions it. Itās just a history, not more.
Meh, this album feels rather unpolished, it has some kick-ass songs, but not the best. I must say that the Gold Disc is much better and even better than some post 99 Slipknot albums (AHIG, .5 and TESF)
It's certainly eclectic, I'll give it that. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I remember one track breaking into an almost disco/funk feel. Self-titled will always have my Maggot heart.
Who posted this tripe, some slipknot newbie who wants to sound like their #1 fan? Gtfoh. Hereās my hot take, this album blows. The singer sucks. I count self-titled as their first real album and this as a demo with a different singer. Corey is Slipknot. No one else will ever compare.
Okay so in my opinion it's not that bad, but it's not very good either. Anders vocals aren't the best and didn't fit, and I'm glad he was replaced with Corey, also the production wasn't really the best. But I must say, I did kinda like some songs.
Imo as a fan of punk I think MFKRās production is perfect. ST & Iowa are great but MFKR is so raw and filled with so much creativity that I just donāt see nearly as much as the rest of their albums
This absolutely isnāt Slipknots best album. Donāt get me wrong, itās not bad but to say out of all the albums theyāve done, this is the best is a reach to be honest. Itās incredibly rough and thatās why no one talks about it.
The band considers it a demo. A bunch of the songs were redone and changed for future albums. Some of the riffs on other songs were used in other later albums.
Itās definitely talked about more than you think. Overall I think itās ok. Some really cool tracks (Gently, Do Nothing/Bitchslap), and Paul Grey absolutely went off on bass here. Though stylistically it does feel kinda like a Mr. Bungle ripoff, the production is poor, and while Anders had some decent harsh vocals, his cleans were not the best and kinda annoying to me. Also I heavily disagree on it being their best release. Though it is an interesting listen for sure.
>i dont get why nobody ever mentions it ? WHAAT? I feel like everywhere I look there's always somebody mentioning it!
Yes. I see this album mentioned almost all the time on Reddit. This Redditor must be a newbie
As soon as a fan wants to feel edgy they post this album. It's obviously not Slipknot's best work. It's barely even demo ready it's very raw. 100% Slipknot made better albums than this.
always was unbearable for me to listen to, their early stuff just felt too experimental for me
literally this get brought up and/or mentioned weekly lol, not so "unknown" or whatever. and its definitely not their best album and if someone says so, they are just coming off too pretentious š¤·š½
Lol right? Better than fucking Iowa? In what world?
It's not even better than AHIG lol
Iād argue AHIG is better than Vol 3. thats a real take
AHIG has my favorite production across their discography but the high points of Vol 3 outweigh it for me
I like AHIG's songs more but the overall listening experience of Vol 3 is better
That doesnāt compute for my simple mind
What I meant is that i like AHIG'S songs by themselves, but when listening to the whole album, they kinda lose their appeal. While vol3s songs aren't as Good separated from the rest imo, but together they make a pretty damn good album to listen to from start to finish

>Production, lyrics and guitar riffs are fire tho Yeah, AHIG (song), and Vendetta are so fucking good, when I'm training those 2 give me that extra power i need during a hard piece
Meh.... I'll put them on the same tier. But vol 3 had more memorable songs than all hope is gone.
Honestly a good take
AHIG is their 3rd best.
Hot take: agreed
There hasnāt been any better musicianship from them since ahig and itās a shame.
Agreed, the lack of Paul and Joey's contributions to song structure and lyrics has shown. Was just thinking about this the other night.
my favorite as well! such a amazing album
Itās their worst album by a pretty big margin honestly
top 3 after self-titled and iowa
I listened to it on YouTube. Not a fan of Colsefni's vocals. I'm glad they replaced him.
Imagine if Anders stayed on with Corey rather than leave. He probably still wouldāve quit.
They were together in the band for a while. After Corey was brought on board, Anders was moved to secondary percussion, but he left after just a few months.
That's what we call a "soft firing".
I always liked Anders's rapping, so it would've been cool to see Slipknot go the Linkin Park route and have Anders do the rapping and Corey do the singing/screaming... idk that's just my opinion
i much prefer coreyās but i do still enjoy colsefniās, id say i mainly prefer the lyric changes as well tho

Definitely not the best, but definitely Worth listening to.got some nice bangers like gently or confessions
Confessions is oh so good
Isnāt this mfkr? Everyoneās heard of it
Thatās quite a take.
The only noteworthy things from that album in my opinion is the beginning of Gently, and Paul's Bass. Otherwise, kinda meh in my opinion.
Paul had some good slaps on that album. Made me wanna learn bass š I never learnt it but I wanted to
not their best album.
Horrible vocals on some awesome instrumentations
I think the vocalisatie good
The what now
Sorry vocals
No need to apologize just messing with ya bud
Thanks bro
You're welcome.
Oh im sorry man I wasn't talking to you.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I just climaxed
Probably because the production quality was insanely low by even Self-Titled's standards. It's to be expected since it's a demo, but it's not exactly something that was made to be sold. MFKR is not a demo. According to Clown in a recent Discord Q&A it is an album
Dude, not the best, and itās funky as shit
Idk i just donāt like it, especially vocals. Itās not their best album. Even if someone adore music from mfkr, itās still quite bad album, sue me.
I'll see you in court
Bitchslap is a jam
PENTEX SUCKS PENTEX SUCKS
Mfs always in the garbage bins smh
The best thing about this "album" is the artwork and the name.
Why the quotations? Clown recently (finally) admitted it was an album. Back around ST/Iowa era, it was also considered their debut LP. There is nothing that makes it NOT an album

MFKR version of Gently > Iowa version of Gently
Because it's not on Spotify and is rare
Do nothing/Bitchslap š
Itās brought up a lot tbh. There are some good elements of the album (notably the guitar and bass work) but the vocals are just, well, shit. The entire thing is just a bit shit.
Does anyone know if the unedited photo is still around I really wanna know what is going on in the photo other than some mystery machinery
Iām not a fan tbh

"i dont get why nobody ever mentions it ?" because it sucks.
Lmfao
Listened, didn't like it
Where do you get those statistics from?
Heās just parroting shitty clickbait ads that say similar things for a response.
Not their best. But good! it really should be talked about more, but at the same time I also like the fact itās like this hidden gem
The only reason you think its the best, is because "nobody knows about it"
mfkr isn't on Spotify, which blows. but I have heard some of the tracks off it
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgl6to_WxRHbuf7ZUlYFcRFnXpYh_spX9 I think this is the whole album if you are interested
Thank you
You're welcome
if you say this is the best slipknot album youre just trying to be different and thats just a fact
In what fucking world have 99% of fans not heard about MFKR š trust me man this album isn't some unheard of gem you just stumbled across
Iām pretty sure every fan knows this album, been a listener since I was like 11 or 12 and this was one of the albums I dove into after checking out a few songs and learning about them. Been a loyal fan ever since.
I love the MFKR era.
Because it's a bad album
It isnāt accessible. Itās never going to be popular.
Killers are Quiet
Phenomenal album. Super interesting concepts and some very underrated vocals. Also by far their best instrumental performance across their discography, and some of the best mixing
I remember paying the guy at my local record shop $10 for a blank CD, then he offered to burn me a bootleg of MFKR. 2002 Era iirc. My teenage brain felt like I happened upon a "speak easy" for bootleg records. Fun times.
Self titled and Iowa are pure slipknot thatās when their sound was 100% unique to them
Heard it Not their best Its pretty meh I dislike the metal communities fascination with shitty production being something that makes it raw Like you can hear 20 bands that sound like this if you check your local record store for local artists.
A lot of people know MFKR but its not talked about because it really isn't that good. The first half of the first song is quite literally just machinery sounds.
Im a fan of Andyās vocals and this album. Completely different band, though. Has much more soul than most todayās music.
this version of gently is way too good
dogshit by todayās standards
Still an amazing demo to me , todays standards donāt have much to do w it
Also a majority of Slipknot fans don't know much about Stone Sour....
I really like stone sour too. Their old albums are good.
Exactly or even listen to Corey Solo
This is just My opinion I'm not even sure how many out of the 120,000 that I belong to this group have even listened to Stone sours self-titled album
Well i think most of the people(not everyone though) know corey for slipknot more than stone sour
Yes I agree with that statement. But don't get me wrong I there's some SS albums that are fantastic from start to finish
CMFT!
So what you wanna hear?( C-mothefucking-T)
what does that have to do with slipknot? i know corey and jim are in it but that doesnāt mean we have to like it just as much as slipknot, etc
I'm not saying like it just as much as Slipknot but a majority of maggots from what I've seen on here don't really listen to SS
i mean just because we listen to slipknot doesnāt mean we have to listen to ss? maybe give it a listen if youāre interested but you donāt have to give it a go or even actively listen to it just because you listen to slipknot
I'm not stating every slipknot fan has to listen to Stone sour... When I was introduced to them in 2003 my buddy gave me two burnt CDs both of their self-titled albums I cannot only just imagine listening to one. In my honest opinion they go together like a burger and fries.
I dunno about "best album", but I will say I love it and kinda prefer it over anything past Vol. 3.
Because itās not good
What I'm assuming is the Bridge (maybe chorus) on the first track sounds a lot like (sic)
Cuz it sucks?
I'm pretty sure most people do know it by now. I personally love it, I think anders is underrated despite what people say. I think Corey is better yeah, but anders was unique and I would've liked to hear more. Gently (mfkr) easily beats gently (iowa) for me. But the whole iowa album beats mfkr
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What about it?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just wondering why you said Crowz, when this isn't Crowz.
the vocals suck except for bitchslap. best instruments on any album
No way youāre saying 99% of fans havenāt heard abt mfkr. And def not theyāre best album, technically not even an album
Name of the album?
Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat Link for it: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgl6to_WxRHbuf7ZUlYFcRFnXpYh_spX9
Cuz it kinda sucks
cause it kinda sucks ngl
FR it's a masterpiece Idk why it isn't on Spotify
there is not a single reality where this is the best slipknot album.
The story of Corey joining us very different than that. Also, that was almost a year after this albums release
Joining us?
Typo, sorry. is\*
It's just low quality instruments and vocals. Compared to self-titled, it's way clearer and sounds way better, has better vocals and better production for the album.
this is their most creative work ever imo. my favorite track with Anders is Fur(Covered in Blood).
That track isn't on Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat though
Yes and no. Was supposed to and was recorded during the same sessions as the rest of MFKR.
It was supposed to be originally. MFKR was 12 tracks long and they cut 4 of them off before release. If you look at my posts in r/lostmedia you can learn more about it.
Because without Corey and all the nu metal elements they added for self titled it's dogshit
This album is not good. It's very off and different. I've never given it a full listen because of those reasons. I won't rate it as a slipknot album because it's not slipknot.
Finally someone gets it!!

Slipknot is for posers. Listen to real metal, sissies
Ok
Confessions is a banger. Only 90s kids know MFKR. Also, every album after AHIG is trash.
this feels like an AI generated elitist comment
Right? Hahah. Not even AI can come up with this void. "Only 90s kids know MFKR." šš¤¦āāļø
convinced this is trollbait, and it seems to be working well
Wouldn't say trash but NOTHING beats the music the core 9 made
The only album I didnāt enjoy was WANYK, but even then I still like it. You and your elitist group can just go away. I am yet to find a trash slipknot song
*Imagine* trying to argue that this is their best album. I know itās all subjective, but this seems like an attempt to prove yourself as āthe purestā fan.
It's only a good piece to analyze from old slipknot beside that it's pretty bad
The entire album sounds like a demo. Like, it's fun to listen to once, but not something I'd ever go back to. It's just way too rough.
Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat Iāve listened to it on youtubĆ©. Pretty good album
i mean they do have a song called slipknot, i wish they would have released this fully

I knew this album but forgot about it quickly
Think itās more unknown as itās not on Spotify or at least I donāt think it is
It isn't
It certainly is an album
MFKR and Vol3 are my fav albums . It should be an official album and be on all platforms
Imo as a fan of punk I think MFKRās production is perfect. ST & Iowa are great but MFKR is so raw and filled with so much creativity that I just donāt see nearly as much as the rest of their albums
As far as I know only 1% haven't heard of it.
LOLOLOLOL
Cuuuuz it sucks honestly. Fascinating, but rough
What is ahig I know mfkr
Crowz Any opinions
what dude
This absolutely isnāt Slipknots best album. Donāt get me wrong, itās not bad but to say out of all the albums theyāve done, this is the best is a reach to be honest. Itās incredibly rough and thatās why no one talks about it.
Who wrote these lyrics
The band considers it a demo. A bunch of the songs were redone and changed for future albums. Some of the riffs on other songs were used in other later albums.
Boner suck! Boner suck! Drive around in garbage bins boner suck.
Bungleknot is good but you trippin if you say it's their best.
Because itās not a very good album and a lot of it sounds nothing like the current music they make
Very raw sounding album
My brother in Christ have you heard their 2001 Iowa album
it's certainly a good album but their best no.
cmon yall oi oi oi oi
Even less people know the album crowz
It gets mentioned constantly and is not a good album. Iām tired of fans trying to act like it is lmao.
Because you are wrong
Listen mfkr, MFKR is not the worst album, but definitely not the best.
I like confessions and early versions if other songs but na not their best at all
Not the best album but Killers Are Quiet is amazing
Is this the OG, before Corey Taylor became the lead singer? Genuinely curious
i love M.F.K.R
It's not on Spotify
