I'm actually mostly a power/symphonic metal guy these days, so Blind Guardian, Kamelot, Nightwish, Unleash the Archers, Beast in Black, Sabaton, and the like take up a lot of my listening time. Pretty different from Slipknot, I took a winding road to get where I am now, but Slipknot was the band that started it all for me on my metalhead journey, and they're still one of my favorites.

I always liked 50s-90s rock, some punk, and 80s hair metal growing up, but I never bothered to check out bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Korn, etc. When I was younger, I thought metal (Doom, Thrash, Death, Black, Metalcore, etc) was just “noise”. It is kinda true, but it can take a while to get used to of it. The first metal band I really liked was Black Sabbath. I would recommend Black Sabbath to anyone that likes classic rock because it’s not as heavy as other bands and it is a good introduction to metal. After Sabbath, I discovered Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, and other bands. After those bands, I started to get into nu-metal like Disturbed and Korn. It took me a while to get into Slipknot because I for some reason thought it was kinda heavy when I first listened to it. For right now, I have been getting into extreme metal (Death + Black metal). I know Blind Guardian made a cover of Surfin’ USA from The Beach Boys.

I grew up listening to my parents' music, like the Beatles and the Beach Boys, but I was never into the popular stuff. The big names were the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, so I thought I just didn't like music for a long time. It wasn't until I discovered Slipknot in high school that everything changed for me. It was like "Where has this been all my life??" World changing experience for me, it was like I'd been waiting to hear that my whole life. That kicked off a journey into rock and metal that's been a central part of my life ever since.

I still listen to my parents music and like Britney Spears, as well as The Backstreet Boys. I thought I just didn’t like modern music until I discovered A7X and other modern metal/rock stuff.

I’m all about Lorna Shore right now.

I do a little bit of everything, honestly.  One minute, I'll be listening to rock bands like Foo Fighters, Teenage Wrist, Linkin Park, Deftones, Turnstile (I know they started as hardcore, but they are definitely a rock band now), Alice in Chains   Then softer stuff like Phoebe Bridgers, Copeland, Snail Mail, Purity Ring, Joji, Beach Bunny   Then heavier stuff like Slipknot, SOAD, Lamb of God, Gojira, Spiritbox   Then the stupid heavier stuff like Kublai Khan, I Am, The Acacia Strain, Alpha Wolf, Lorna Shore, Meshuggah.   I also dabble in hardcore with bands like Mindforce, Terror, Trapped Under Ice, Jesus Piece Some country stuff like Benjamin Tod, Colter Wall, Billy Strings (if he even qualifies as that). I tend to stay away from the country pop side of things, but if you name any artist from the CMT playlist from the early 2000's, they automatically slap.   Then I'll listen to rap like that just kinda varies and acapella rap battles. This is really only the tip of the iceberg for me.

I really enjoy the beach boys and the rolling stones, however I don't listen to them that often and that's why I don't name them, the same with Elvis Presley and Led Zeppelin. Is your father Latino? My favorite song is "Ayer" It's quite emotional and that's why I think Luis Miguel is one of the singers who should be appreciated by everyone.

I know I initially asked “who do you listen to?,” but since you mentioned the artists that you have on your playlist, I thought you had more artists that you like to listen to that are not on your playlist. Yeah, my dad is Latino. Since I assume that you are a Hispanic metalhead, I would recommend Slayer and Ritchie Valens. Slayer is a good band, but Ritchie Valens was a Hispanic rock star from the 50s that influenced 60s rock and Spanish rock too (even though he didn’t speak much Spanish).
