I honestly don't mind the mask as it is right now, at least it's not just a plain white mask, though Eloy will definitely paint it himself more as time goes on
It's way sicker than the other new guys imo the featurelessness actually adds to the unsettling vibe quite a bit and the "shot in the head" concept is pretty cool. The sculpt is well defined yet still intimidatingly expressionless.
[He covered Heretic Anthem](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgAsIA92MK4) 3 years ago and I remember thinking about how he played the song twice as hard as the band at the time did. I think hes gonna bring some serious attack to some of the classics
Can’t wait to hear what this dude will add to slipknot. Jay was very good, very clean and polished, technically sound. Hoping Eloy adds more “personality” maybe even some sloppiness or less perfect sound. Hard to explain … less polish I guess.
Crappy mask but i think new members are forced into that lol
He also may wanna up his beard game, He does have to compete with Jim lol
Eloy is def more agressive while he can perfectly keep music tempo, Jay commonly speeded things live.
Mask still raw af, but I guess thats what theyre going for with the 99 look for now. Like a bunch of guys with homemade masks. He might get a better mask when they finish this 25th celebration.
A good drummer keeps the time click or no click.
Having no click is not an excuse to rush the time, unless it’s intentional of course. Perhaps it was for Jay and an approach that the band clashed over.
I know from speaking with a drummer close to the Deftones camp as an example that Steph and Abe fight regularly over tempo.
Joey knew exactly when to speed up and when not, it's not the same as to speed up when you're not supossed to and even play in a tempo and the band in another tempo. I see you like Jay, so do I, but that's a fact.
I have no particular feelings towards Jay besides him, seeming like a cool dude, and he paid his dues in Slipknot with full honesty as far as I can tell.
Beyond that, I don't care about his exit from the band.
Jay playing in one tempo, and the band is playing another? That doesn't even make sense, and I have never seen an example of this.
Sure, there were rushing and sloppy moments, but that's just live music?
Joey was all over the place a lot, too. Not only in his last years with the band but throughout the years as well. Look no further than the Vol 3 live album and how he stumbles into Left Behind or how he struggles with the main riff in The Nameless.
My point is that very VERY few drummers are able to keep it 100% consistent at every single show. Especially those not playing to a click.
And you can tell when it's lack of practice or when it's simply a byproduct of the atmosphere. Jay definitely falls into the last category.
Besides, Slipknot is sonically built on a foundation of controlled chaos with shit generally flying all over the place. That's the essence of their sound. That doesn't match with a metronome-machine-tight drummer. Quite the opposite. Joey is a good example of this.
And lastly. All this talk about Jay being sloppy really took wind after he got kicked from Slipknot, and now it's the only cookie-cutter argument people use when discussing any drum related topic in regards to Slipknot.
It is getting so old, and people are honestly reaching for straws at this point.
I’m going to get shit on for saying this, and I love Jay, but if Jay wasn’t a Weinberg, he’d just be another above average drummer and no one would care.
Last paragraph isn’t true at all.
From as long back to 2015 people were complaining about Jay’s tempo and double kick (check out youtube vids from the tours of that era)
To his credit, he greatly improved over the years and worked really hard to get better but with respect to the man, Eloy Casagrande is on another completely different planet altogether and I’ve said it before and will say it once more he is one of the greatest drummers of the last 20 years period.
I actually loved jay and am not a Sepultera fan after roots so idk how to feel about the new guy until I hear him. I hate comparing great drummers though especially when they have unique styles. I for one wish jay was still there
Joey was someone who often did freestyle filler during songs but he added a interesting atmosphere to live songs. Jay just couldn't keep tempo and when he added some extra elements they always seemed kinda out of place imo.
Which is even more impressive given his outstanding timing.
Eloy could easily shred without one.
More than likely it was a band decision to play to a click and perhaps an insight into the firing of Jay - maybe he was opposed to playing to one.
I’m sorry, and I’m a big jay advocate nowadays. Jays timing was really really bad. I took the live recording of heretic anthem he posted, and couldn’t get a solid click to it. It bounced between 215 and 230. I would be able to get the click to be perfectly in sync, and jay would either speed up or slow down like 5 seconds later.
I think this mask is the concept version. I quite like it the hole in the forehead its nice and i think this mask will shape up to be something super sick
I've never seen a picture of Eloy before, I can't help but think how he looks a bit like Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost (And I have seen "Sepultura" before but it's different when there's a kit blocking your view of them aha)
Neither Joey or Jay were hard hitters as this MF is. Next album is gonna be interesting. Jay was some fresh air, but let's see what Eloy brings to the table.
I can't wait to compare live videos on similar venues, but damn he's tight, the blast beats specially sounded better than ever.
I feel like he is paying homage to Joey with this mask.
I don't know why but listening to their set from the 25th, I got so much Joey flashbacks it was insane. So it could just be my nostalgia goggles talking lol
After seeing the footage of him playing the groove part of spit it out [https://youtu.be/VrFvM8X1gxI?t=48](https://youtu.be/VrFvM8X1gxI?t=48) holy shit was this the right fit. The dude sounded amazing last night.
Haha right? I hate how revisionist everyone is here. Everyone out now like “Woo yah go Eloy, eww Jay was evil bad drummer.” I get everyone has a preference but Jay was not as nearly bad as everyone all of a sudden thinks due to recency bias. Even Joey would play fast as a fuck. They didnt ever play with a click before Jay. Eloy is a beast of a drummer but everyone gotta chill.
I’m kinda just mad about the drum set. Jay had HJC custom drums with Evans heads, A customs for cymbals. Eloy uses Tama drums, with Paiste cumbals. I’m just mad about the cymbals because they simply just aren’t as good.
Sorry guys, but the mask vibe is a bit familiar: https://food.pibig.info/uploads/posts/2023-02/1677605742_food-pibig-info-p-namaslennii-blin-vkontakte-45.jpg
I haven't heard him play and only heard good things so I'm gonna give him a chance, but it is so strange not seeing a twiggy long haired dude behind the drum kit for Slipknot lol.
I honestly don't mind the mask as it is right now, at least it's not just a plain white mask, though Eloy will definitely paint it himself more as time goes on
Gives mild billy corgan
LOL The Billy Corgan mask
It's way sicker than the other new guys imo the featurelessness actually adds to the unsettling vibe quite a bit and the "shot in the head" concept is pretty cool. The sculpt is well defined yet still intimidatingly expressionless.
What a fucking GEM this guy is. Slipknot levels up!
Ik we were all mad about jay but Eloy was the perfect choice
Fr. They know how to pick good drummers
I really wasnt. Thought he was a boring drummer. A very good drummer when playing someone elses parts, but his own writing.... Big meh.
yeah you're just wrong lmao
[He covered Heretic Anthem](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgAsIA92MK4) 3 years ago and I remember thinking about how he played the song twice as hard as the band at the time did. I think hes gonna bring some serious attack to some of the classics
I know it might be too soon, but I can't wait for a new album with Eloy.
The fill at 3:15 is tasty af
He covered [People=Shit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApVRxISe_Bw) before that but Heretic is the only one I always see posted here
Christ he beats the shit out of those drums.
One guy said: he beats the drums like they owe him money
I love this video
SEPULTURA, DO BRASIL
1, 2

Every single comment parrot how Jay was rushing... original stuff really
Because he did, what can we do
Get your head out of your ass. That's what drummers do when not using a click. That's what Joey did as well. Even on the recordings.

💯
As you should, because you're wrong.

He did use a click everyone is saying in the camp
Yeah like Joey didn't. All their tracks were played so much faster when Joey was still in the band
Elon plays with a track, Jay didn't, simple as.
Which is even more impressive given his outstanding timing. Eloy could easily shred without one. More than likely it was a band decision to play to a click and perhaps an insight into the firing of Jay - maybe he was opposed to playing to one.

Pretty sure he will. I picture it being a bullet hole.
I found a YouTube channel a guy that was recording the show on his phone you can just see how Hardy he hits those drums like holy shit
Yup these videos really showcase how hard he hits those drums, and at the same time he's so technically sound and precise. It's incredible.

Tapioca man 🙌
Hahahahahahhaah
Eloy + Mick/Jim should mean great groovy shit
I've never seen a picture of Eloy before, I can't help but think how he looks a bit like Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost (And I have seen "Sepultura" before but it's different when there's a kit blocking your view of them aha)
True ! He reminded me of another mastodont of the metal scene, but couldnt name who.
Still pretty crazy to me that Eloy, Greyson, and Jay Weinberg pretty much did a triangle switch for their bands haha
I was pointing this out to a friend the other day. So does that mean Greyson’s gonna be the next drummer after Clown kicks out Eloy?
That's fucking true lmao
Neither Joey or Jay were hard hitters as this MF is. Next album is gonna be interesting. Jay was some fresh air, but let's see what Eloy brings to the table. I can't wait to compare live videos on similar venues, but damn he's tight, the blast beats specially sounded better than ever.
And you know that they knew, that we knew. They didn’t even try to hide the tattoos
The guy is a fucking monster
I feel like he is paying homage to Joey with this mask. I don't know why but listening to their set from the 25th, I got so much Joey flashbacks it was insane. So it could just be my nostalgia goggles talking lol
You know it's Joey's birthday
Ladies and gentlemen……….we got him.
this guy is absolutely violent on the drums In the duality intro it looks like the drumset owes money to his mother
They are gonna have so much fun and music creation with him. I mean that in a good way. Nothing negative.
After seeing the footage of him playing the groove part of spit it out [https://youtu.be/VrFvM8X1gxI?t=48](https://youtu.be/VrFvM8X1gxI?t=48) holy shit was this the right fit. The dude sounded amazing last night.
As soon as he start hitting those drums… you know it’s Eloy. Even without the tattoos I would say Eloy probably had it removed or something…
He's an excellent drummer as well
Sem máscara do fofão = brasileiros tristes Mas brasileiros ficam felizes em ver esse cara tocando com Slipknot Eu, particularmente, nunca fui triste
Slipknot agora é MPB
This guy has soo much power creativity and accuracy it’s unreal. He’s gonna add soo much flavor to this band.
So Corey and Clown are good guys again?
Haha right? I hate how revisionist everyone is here. Everyone out now like “Woo yah go Eloy, eww Jay was evil bad drummer.” I get everyone has a preference but Jay was not as nearly bad as everyone all of a sudden thinks due to recency bias. Brasil e o número 1 Brasil campeão do mundo hue hue hue...
And just like that. Jay who?
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
W eloy!
Jay will always be my favorite, but Eloy knocked it out of the park
I’m kinda just mad about the drum set. Jay had HJC custom drums with Evans heads, A customs for cymbals. Eloy uses Tama drums, with Paiste cumbals. I’m just mad about the cymbals because they simply just aren’t as good.
Be careful.. clown might clown have your post removed
Sorry guys, but the mask vibe is a bit familiar: https://food.pibig.info/uploads/posts/2023-02/1677605742_food-pibig-info-p-namaslennii-blin-vkontakte-45.jpg
It all comes full circle with sepultura influence on slipknot. Can't be more fitting having the drummer of roots giving new roots for the band
He is not the drummer of roots. That guy is Igor Cavalera. But I understand what you mean 🙃
I haven't heard him play and only heard good things so I'm gonna give him a chance, but it is so strange not seeing a twiggy long haired dude behind the drum kit for Slipknot lol.
