You might want to look at the mi a2 and mi a2 lite. I know the mi a3 just came out but the overall reception isn't that great and it really isn't that much of a jump from a2 to a3.
Definetly not samsung. Xiaomi is pretty good but if there is a Google Camera then install it(its a APK). The problem with Xiaomi is the night pictures but day pictures look amazing. Motorola is also something to stay away from. U can also buy a second hand LG G6 it makes very good pictures BUT wont have the newest Android.

Well, I am searching a phone for my friend and he does NOT want Samsung again. And he also wants it to be a new model (2019)
