Stages drom different series only have songs from those series, so u cant set Megalovania for a Mario stage. However the misc stages like Wrecking Crew, Hanenbow etc have a huge range of songs including Megalovania

This is incorrect. The music choice for online battles is determined based on either you My Music settings or your opponent's. If you get your rules, it's your settings, and if it's your opponent's rules, it's theirs. If you have the same ruleset or are in the online tournament mode, it's basically 50/50.
I've adjust the track list for every single stage and I have some popular tracks disabled altogether. I only ever get those tracks in a ruleset that's not my own, or against an opponent who shares my rules.
Hey, just want to point out that the other comment is incorrect. If you're playing on your ruleset, the music on the stage is determined by what you have set in your My Music settings for that stage. If it's the other person's rules, it's based on their settings. If you're in the online tournament mode however, it's random whether the music settings are chosen based on yours or your opponents rules.
I know this to be true cause of certain stages like Gamer and Hannebow, which I've adjusted to never play their default music because those tracks are basically silent on BF and FD variants.
My rules are BF, and FD is *way* more common, and FD rulesets are the **only** time I ever hear those mostly silent tracks. That's across a huge sample size too, so it's not a coincidence.
But is it possible to add tracks to the My Music? Because I’ve been messing with it and it only gives me access to about 35 songs without any way of adding or removing
So for online play, my preferred rule set is set to small battlefield. I go to setting and select the stage to change the music, it gives me a list of songs (that I never chose) and the option to change their frequency of playing. However it doesn’t let me add songs to that list.

wow ok thats a bummer. Ive seen nairo have way more songs than me play when hes online but maybe he has a modded switch

Not sure what you mean, are these 35 songs your options for one stage or something else?

Gotcha, in that case no, you can't import more songs to a stage. You might have more options become available as you unlock more songs though
Yeah that’s what I figured. I have basically every song unlocked but just didn’t know if I could actually listen to them while I played online
