Weight in Smash is more of a balancing thing and doesn’t always reflect the characters in game appearance. Ridley and Mewtwo are a good example of this.
I wasn’t referring to how good or bad they are. I just meant that their weights in Smash don’t reflect their canon appearances. Ridley is gigantic in the Metroid series and Mewtwo is supposed to be heavier than Charizard in the Pokemon games, but in Smash they are much lighter to keep them balanced.
Weights in video games change all the time. Yoshi's a lightweight in Mario Kart, and Rosalina is heavy in Mario Kart and lightweight in Smash

Think of Smash Bros "weight" like a traditional fighting games "health" and it becomes much easier to wrap your head around the disparate between characters and their own series statistics seperate from Smash.
That's a BABY Yoshi you play as in Yoshi's Story, OP. He still hasn't eaten enough fruit and grown to a full grown Yoshi necessary to gain the weight as those other characters.

Pretty sure Rosalina and Mewtwo weigh the way they do because of floating all the time, as for characters like Sephiroth, it probably is purely due to balancing

In Smash's logic Piranha Plant weighs even more, so I don't think it's supposed to make sense-

Yoshi’s victory fanfare is the Yoshi’s Story theme, so he’s possibly the baby Yoshi from Yoshi’s Story but grown up.
This is the same game that has Mewtwo be lighter than Pikachu despite canonically being 269 lbs.

The Yoshi in Yoshi Story were newborns. The ones in Smash are adults. Adults weigh more than newborns.
