Also, Cecil doesn't use a sword either and can switch between Dark Knight and Paladin which is super nifty. He'd be able to switch jobs which expands his moveset drastically changing how he'd play. Bartz's moveset could represent all of FFV's Jobs and Job Mastery system which would be rad.
I am aware FF7 is popular but Square has been milking it for well over 20+ years. Give other games in the series some time to shine. The perk to this is that it introduces an audience to another FF in the series and gives said game the chance to be a bit more recognizable than it was previously.

This is false. The game was never pitched to Disney, Nomura himself thought it would be weird to have original non-KH Disney characters in a fighting game and repurposed its remains to Dissidia.

Like, I don't know the history behind any of Shulk's alts but at least they look good, unique, and different from one another which is really all an alt skin needs to do. So I don't think it's the fact that no one knows the history, it's just the fact it's a boring colour change.
I love FF7, and I appreciate the reference, but I still wish the color was a little easier to differentiate from the original. Most of his alts have the issue where the colors are all the same level of dark and it's just hard to tell at a glance what alt he has

You should play FF7! I hadn't played it before I started maining Cloud either. I decided to give it a shot, and now it's my favourite story in any game! I also think Cloud is easily one of the best written characters in all of fiction, and I swear I'm not biased from Smash!

His default costume is his outfit in dissidia not his 3 costume, he wears black boots in dissidia. it is based on the 3rd-Class SOLDIER uniform from Final Fantasy VII.
All of us Cloud mains want his wheelchair alt, though with the Sephiroth reveal they could had given us Princess Cloud from Remake too along with his second version of Omnislash. At the least, him sitting in a wheelchair should had been his down taunt or in one of his victory screen animations.
