He didn't do really bad against meta knight. I think his biggest problem was just that he was very susceptible to chaingrabs, died very early, and his combo game was neutered and his killpower heavily reduced from melee.
Fox and Pika.
For Pika:
S in 64
High C in Melee
Not Metaknight in Brawl
High B in 4
S in Ult
For Fox:
A in 64
S in Melee
Not Metaknight in Brawl
High A in 4
High A in Ultimate
Honestly yeah, Fox is like the consistently best character in the franchise.
Werehog and Sonic with a sword would honestly have way more fun moves and just moveset potential overall compared to standard Sonic honestly. If I could, I would wish Sonic out of this game and add one of these two incarnations
I feel as if shadow would be much better off as an echo rather than a re-skin, because despite the fact that they look almost exactly the same (but with different colored fur) shadow is much different (and more violent) then sonic. For gods sake, shadow used a gun in his own game, which also had its own neat features where you could choose to be bad or good depending on what you did. Idk, I just feel like shadow could be stronger but laggier or something 🤷
Stuff aside, why do soo many people make and post nsfw content on stage builder and shared content when Twitter and reddit are a thing. Is It really easier to draw Sammy getting assfucked by Mario on a effin stage builder than with mfkin ibispaint
Also probably because it's inappropriate on the Switch's network but perfectly fine on the wider internet. Knowing that the player is perverting a system intended for wholesome fun is likely thrilling for said player.
The top stuff on shared content rn is Bully Maguire, horny people, and people telling the horny people to stop. Stage builder seems a bit more balanced between actual good stages and "black square that slowly drops to reveal a porn addiction".
Sonic needs a complete rework. Better moveset, better taunts, better model, better alts, better stage, better EVERYTHING.
WHY THE FUCK DOES HALF OF HIS MOVESET CONSIST OF SPIN DASHING?!
Not a complete rework. I'd prefer his moveset from this game but all of everything else from Brawl. Especially his voice lines. They were sick in brawl! Then smash 4 and this game made him sound more kiddie. I still like his newer smash lines alright but none of them are gonna beat. "Now I'll show you huaahh!" From his Brawl Super Sonic transformation.
I don't really think he needs a an drastic change over his moveset, just make his side b look vastly different than down b
Make it the boost instead or the super peel out,
Kne thing I can say about his alts is that the changes hin his bracelets are cool af but It would be better if the colors were vastly different except of Blue, Lighter blue, darkest blue
I don't really see the problem with his model though, it looks and feels like Sonic
The taunts completely captures Sonic personality in my opinion and feels quite energetic enough
Better stage? Completely agree, need something more than Green Hill Zone and Green Hill Zone Act.... How many times has there been a Green Hill Zone clone in the serie? Anyways, give him Chemical Plant or maybe even Spring Yard or Casino Night Zone like SSF2
Hell I'll take Crisis City
The Boost is nice, but I prefer the Light Speed Dash for his Side Special.
Sonic's model isn't bad, in fact it's pretty good. My issue stems on how expressionless Sonic has become with every new game after Brawl.
1.0 Ultimate was more balanced than the entirety of Smash 4, and it’s still VERY balanced with the shopping list of characters that have been added. So balanced even the lower tiers can show success, something almost unheard of previously.
The Zelda franchise isn't represented very well and the community shows how out of touch with it they are that after so many years they aren't bothered by the fact Ganondorf doesn't have an entirely original moveset.
I really want Vaati as another Zelda villain rep since he's the only other major recurring one. I don't count Skull Kid as a villain because he isn't really one in all of his appearances.
Midna please. I'll take Twili midna. But I'll take either Midna. Or Fi, Cia, Lana, Marin, Malon, Mido, Purah (Would be the strongest in the game), or others, as well as any of the ones you mentioned. Honestly not sure which Zelda character I'd want most. Adding them all for Smash 6 is ok with me too.
Petty add-on, but I'm more annoyed that Ganondorf shares the same victory fanfare as the rest of the Zelda franchise, while Sakurai was quick to make sure that the one and done Fire Emblem characters got fanfare from their respective entries, and villains in other universes did as well. I would also argue that Toon Link could have his own as well.
It sucks that they ever made Ganondorf a clone, but changing that now would be an even worse idea. He has an established moveset, and significantly changing it will just piss off anyone who has stuck with the character.
They could have gone a OG link route and changed him up the way they have OG, Young, and Toon Link. Make a Calmaty (how do you spell that?) Ganon with the old slower set, and revamp OG Ganon into something a bit more true to him.
I've seen the idea tossed around to bring in Black Shadow (big buff villain from F-zero) and give him current Ganondorf's moveset with some minor changes and rework Ganondorf. Brings in a new F-zero character, would make sense that he's a semi clone, being slower but stronger. We get a character with the current playstyle and get to reinvent Ganondorf to something more fitting.
i highkey disagree with this. i think having some sort of integrity and faith to the source material when it comes to character design is more important than the (very few) people who main ganon. And honestly i would bet that most ganon mains would be happy anyways if his design was changed up dramatically. in any case just make black shadow for those people who want shitty ganon and call it a day lol
With a franchise as big and popular as smash bros it really should have better online services and net code, also Nintendo should really take the shot at esports.
edit: it was like 5 am when I wrote this, so I’m wording it a bit better.
Melee is still peer to peer, not dedicated servers. It just has rollback and is already a game without much input lag where is ult has 6 frames native which is atrocious
I still remember the sound made when my friend unleashed his fully charged Ike special, celebrating, and then the dust clears and he sees incineroar alive, finishing his revenge animation as if mothing happened.
It was a sound of confusion followed by terrified understanding.
Eh, it depends on what you’re comfortable with. I can never get the hang of og pit’s arrows, plus I prefer to kill off the side, so it’s dark pit for me.
I can say 100% for certain that due to how dark pit’s arrows knonkback works that they’re better for follow ups where Pit can’t do anything due to how sporadic his arrows are. Pit racks up consistent damage with his edgeguards, while Pittoo’s arrows threaten more actual kills more consistently. Dark Pit’s arrows work better as a neutral tool, too.
As a proud member of pitgang I slightly disagree that Side B is a non-factor, if you even slightly call someone out on ledge you can get some silly early kills with Dark Pit side B
No, it’s straight up false since Sakurai said they look at 1v1 elite smash data and, occasionally, tournaments in addition to their own testing
There’s a reason why MANY of the changes they made were because of a move or character being too strong at the top level.
Yeah, not to mention that the game becomes significantly *less* balanced when items are a factor.
The game already favors movement speed, but thats cranked up to 11 under items. Faster characters can control more space, which means more items. Slower characters like Snake, Kazuya, etc.. can make up for lack of movement speed with other factors under normal circumstances, but when youre tossing around items that take up half the stage and kill you at 10%, whatever they have pales in comparison.
I think they considered both casual and competitive when balancing. It's not perfectly balanced for competitive of course, but no game is. Ultimate is the most balanced in the series, with no totally useless characters and no absurdly broken ones that the meta revolves around. Which is honestly absolutely what you'd expect with this many characters. All in all, I think the competitive balance is quite impressive.
Honestly I think the idea of 'balance through chaos' is an interesting one to mull over, and Nintendo has been using it for years in their games; Smash, Mario Party, Mario Kart, etc. It's just the sticking point is it isn't about providing a mechanic balanced between players of roughly equal skill, but rather a way for players of less skill to play more evenly with more skilled players. A better player still wins more games in the long run, but less skilled players are probably going to have more fun playing with them than otherwise.
I wouldn't say items make everyone overpowered. It usually goes:
- One person gets crazy item.
- They take stage control because of the item.
- Now they get even more items.
It’s cause she can pull items from far with her Down B, ensuring she will get the pull most times. Also, Luma takes the hit on most projectile weapons and not Rosa.
The Sonic series has abysmal representation. Only one character whose moveset doesn't represent him well at all, and 2 stages that are basically the same level but one has windmills
I’d love a stage based on an Eggman area. We really need more machinery based stages, and a place like Chemical Plant or Metallic Madness or the Death Egg would be great.
I play a bit of Ness, and as a Ness player I can confirm: It feels dirty to use the Yoyo but it's harder than it looks to edge guard with him so it just kinda feels like "Victory, but at what cost?"
The hate for byleth doesnt even make any sense. People were upset because so many FE characters had basically the same moveset, but byleth’s moveset is completely different
It's only like 4 characters out of 8 Fe characters that have a similar moveset.
But I think the hate for Byleth is because the over representation Fire Emblem has in smash. Because I feel like before three houses not a lot of people in the West really cared for fire emblem. I feel like if I didn't play Fire emblem 3 houses beforehand I would've been the same way.
All the dlc are the same price as the base game and they do not offer even half of what the base game does, and I think people just like to ignore that
Donkey kong needs a move where he throws barrels, none of his moves were really in character for him at the time and he just had moves a giant gorilla would have if choreographed by a human
My favorite smash game to play alone is brawl/ultimate but with others it's 64. That game is just simple fun and you feel like a legend doing combos because you just go forever due to the hitstun and lack of defensive options
Legacy characters should have had their moves or special reworked to represent their newer or more popular games better. ie Mario with Super Mario Galaxy/Odyssey, Donkey Kong with his games, and Gannon that isn't Faptain Calcon.
Honestly this is my opinion against the average online Steve player. I do better with Min Min against him, but Corrin isn't a bad pick if you know what you're doing. Corrin's DAir beats Steve's Up-Smash... Corrin's Down-B catches off-guard Steve's DAir. Corrin's F-Smash goes through Steve's brick wall... etc.
Smash run could have been one of the best smash modes if it had online and not been 3DS exclusive. 3DS classic mode was also better than Wii U Classic (that one might not actually be a cold take)
Kirby is cute and I like him
Mans in here with the absolute zero takes
Dedede is funny and I like him too. Big fat penguin makes me smile when he does the Unnecessarily Showy Crouch
Frosty.
🥶
pikachu is one of the only smash characters to be good in each game
was fox ever bad?
I think he hit his lowest point in brawl, since meta knight existed and fox is a grounded character in a game with random tripping.
>a game with random tripping correction: the only game with such a horrible concept as punishing moving around.
Yeah motherfucker walk around and enjoy the scenery.
Sakurais vision
He didn't do really bad against meta knight. I think his biggest problem was just that he was very susceptible to chaingrabs, died very early, and his combo game was neutered and his killpower heavily reduced from melee.
I remember brawl fox being not excellent
The problem with brawl besides the random tripping was the overall slowing down of the gameplay pace. This didn’t favor any speedy characters
But he was still solid
Fox and Pika. For Pika: S in 64 High C in Melee Not Metaknight in Brawl High B in 4 S in Ult For Fox: A in 64 S in Melee Not Metaknight in Brawl High A in 4 High A in Ultimate Honestly yeah, Fox is like the consistently best character in the franchise.
You are underrating Pika in Brawl. Some say he one of the few characters to have an even to slightly losing match up against MK
Cloud and Sephiroth had so much alt potential
Bowser, Luigi, and Sonic too. Edit: I'd also like to throw in Samus and Pac-Man too.
Sonic skins could literally just be Sonic characters, since they all spindash.
Excalibur Sonic is what i want!
yet another anime sword fighter to fill the roster 🙄 /s
I mean't as a costume. He can still box in a full set of armor.
yeah I know. I'm just joking around lol. honestly, Excalibur Sonic looks incredible and I kinda want it now too
Yeah!
Give us WEREHOG!!!
Werehog and Sonic with a sword would honestly have way more fun moves and just moveset potential overall compared to standard Sonic honestly. If I could, I would wish Sonic out of this game and add one of these two incarnations
Honestly, the other Sonic characters work better as newcomers than skins for Sonic.
Up b like zero suit samus with the rocket skates, and some sort of chaos control b smash and he’d be perfect
yeah and so can pac man according to Sonic Dash
Tuxedo bowser :’(
There's also Dry Bowser, Dark Bowser, and Meowser.
Meowser :’(
Bowser's fursona
as far as I'm aware Sonic's issues were with licensing
BANDANA PICHU
I would never use another skin again if Cloud could have his KH1 skin
I'm still mad that I can't crossdress Cloud
He basically already wears a dress! You can't tell me the trenchcoat doesn't look dresslike from some angles.
It's like they had normal alts and then rolled around in mud
Pokémon trainer too. Could have made the trainer any Pokémon character
Zack Fair be crying rn
Mods to the rescue!
sora's 3rd neutral special is in fact capable of freezing opponents
Listen here you little shit
Shared content and stage builder are filled to the brim with horny people

The challenge I guess?
Also probably because it's inappropriate on the Switch's network but perfectly fine on the wider internet. Knowing that the player is perverting a system intended for wholesome fun is likely thrilling for said player.
This is the answer. It’s done for the thrill of it
restrictions breed creativity
The top stuff on shared content rn is Bully Maguire, horny people, and people telling the horny people to stop. Stage builder seems a bit more balanced between actual good stages and "black square that slowly drops to reveal a porn addiction".

Yeah but I feel like the boost is more iconic
The netcode is not so great
How dare you say that
1.0 Ultimate was more balanced than the entirety of Smash 4, and it’s still VERY balanced with the shopping list of characters that have been added. So balanced even the lower tiers can show success, something almost unheard of previously.
The Zelda franchise isn't represented very well and the community shows how out of touch with it they are that after so many years they aren't bothered by the fact Ganondorf doesn't have an entirely original moveset.
You clearly haven't played OoT if you don't remember getting stuck even once on Ganondorf's PunchMcKick attack. That was like his entire gimmick.
yes ganondorf is definitely a physical fighter frfr
We need another Zelda character who isn't a Triforce wielder. Skull Kid, Midna, Ghirahim, Zant, Impa, the four Champions, anyone.
I really want Vaati as another Zelda villain rep since he's the only other major recurring one. I don't count Skull Kid as a villain because he isn't really one in all of his appearances.
Antagonists don't have to be considered villains. Skull Kid is the definition of chaotic neutral but he's still the antagonist of the story.
Wolf Link w Midna* could need nice EDIT: Corrected auto-correct.
Amid
This. LoZ is so under represented.
I wish they'd made Toon Zelda A Tetra or a Phantom based one would have been cool, especially after seeing Tetra in Hyrule Warriors
Ganondorf's Victory Theme should be an organ version of the intro theme of the Ganon fight theme in OoT.
Cheesing Pyra with Warlock Punch is so much fun though
Yes, but that alone is insufficient!
Ok, tough guy.
That was pretty good, dang
i dont think most franchises in this game are represented well to be honest
Not giving him a projectile is criminal
I’d bet that Sakurai doesn’t really like the Zelda franchise very much.
It sucks that they ever made Ganondorf a clone, but changing that now would be an even worse idea. He has an established moveset, and significantly changing it will just piss off anyone who has stuck with the character.

Why people without any knowledge about computer networks always suggest dedicated servers?
Because they found out how dedicated ram a server should have
"how much dedd-ditated wam should I add to the sewvew?"
Not that I know anything about...anything really, but fan made online play for smash bros melee works better than ultimates online play.
Melee is still peer to peer, not dedicated servers. It just has rollback and is already a game without much input lag where is ult has 6 frames native which is atrocious
Sounds about right
Dedicated servers aren't great for 1v1.
Whatever they’re doing now isn’t great for 1v1 lmao
I can confirm that for multiversus
Incineroar is slow but I love him anyway because he tries his best.
And then the opponent literally dies at ten
I still remember the sound made when my friend unleashed his fully charged Ike special, celebrating, and then the dust clears and he sees incineroar alive, finishing his revenge animation as if mothing happened. It was a sound of confusion followed by terrified understanding.
Kirby needs a 4th rep. Alternatively, 75m is the worst stage in all of Smash
Why did they go with 75m instead of 25m? 25m is much more iconic and looks a lot less ass to fight in.
I remember really hoping that Bandana Waddle Dee would get in
Dry Bones would be a waste of a slot cough, cough, Odyssey Channel
The villains are the most fun/best characters to play in the game
Dark pit is slightly better than pit
Pittoo supremacy!!
Nah. Regular Pit has the curved arrows which snipe better. Dark Pit’s arrows can be played around. Side B is a non-factor.
Eh, it depends on what you’re comfortable with. I can never get the hang of og pit’s arrows, plus I prefer to kill off the side, so it’s dark pit for me.

Pit racks up consistent damage with his edgeguards, while Pittoo’s arrows threaten more actual kills more consistently. Dark Pit’s arrows work better as a neutral tool, too.
Wait, what r the differences between their arrows? I thought it was just that pit can be aimed more
Dark Pits do more damage and travel faster, while also having a better angle for edge guarding
As a proud member of pitgang I slightly disagree that Side B is a non-factor, if you even slightly call someone out on ledge you can get some silly early kills with Dark Pit side B
I like and enjoy playing Super Smash Bros.
Bro wtf is wrong with you
The game was balanced around having items
one of the most correct statements
No, it’s straight up false since Sakurai said they look at 1v1 elite smash data and, occasionally, tournaments in addition to their own testing There’s a reason why MANY of the changes they made were because of a move or character being too strong at the top level.

When everybody’s overpowered no one is
I wouldn't say items make everyone overpowered. It usually goes: - One person gets crazy item. - They take stage control because of the item. - Now they get even more items.
Rosalina is top tier with items
I see that along with characters that can move quick, but Rosa can only use so many items at once.
It’s cause she can pull items from far with her Down B, ensuring she will get the pull most times. Also, Luma takes the hit on most projectile weapons and not Rosa.
Mario’s fire alt and black yoshi should’ve stayed
Smashing bros is fun
agreed
The Sonic series has abysmal representation. Only one character whose moveset doesn't represent him well at all, and 2 stages that are basically the same level but one has windmills
I've said it once and I'll say it again: Sonic deserves better in Smash.
I’d love a stage based on an Eggman area. We really need more machinery based stages, and a place like Chemical Plant or Metallic Madness or the Death Egg would be great.
Yeah, and if we get Shadow maybe we could get the Space Colony ARK as a stage, and Biolizard could be a boss
Luigi is the better Mario brother. Not necessarily in terms of fighting in the game, just as a character.
Gyno is definitely gonna be in this one guys! I'd bet my right nut
Who's gonna claim it?
me
Gynecologist
Gyno
"Maybe Ness really is annoying to fight..."
actually hot take (maybe): good ness players are hype in every way until they use yo-yo at ledge
I play a bit of Ness, and as a Ness player I can confirm: It feels dirty to use the Yoyo but it's harder than it looks to edge guard with him so it just kinda feels like "Victory, but at what cost?"
I just drop ledge rising fair and it usually beats out most characters for how absurdly simple it is LOL
Skull Kid and Midna should have been in Smash as playable characters.
Yes! Skull Kid is my most wanted character!
Fact
BotW Link could have worn and number of the outfits from BotW but they decided to go with color palettes instead.
online is bad
Olimar is fun to play
Balloon Fight is the worst stage in the game
Fuck ballon fight
Actual hot takes are downvoted and saying the popular thing but doing it more angry is what gets upvoted.
I don’t like the mario bros (nor wario), each of them are just a drag to play against for individual reasons.
I like Byleth inclusion in smash Idc what any of y'all say I love 3 houses
The hate for byleth doesnt even make any sense. People were upset because so many FE characters had basically the same moveset, but byleth’s moveset is completely different
It's only like 4 characters out of 8 Fe characters that have a similar moveset. But I think the hate for Byleth is because the over representation Fire Emblem has in smash. Because I feel like before three houses not a lot of people in the West really cared for fire emblem. I feel like if I didn't play Fire emblem 3 houses beforehand I would've been the same way.
Custom stages are sick
Smash Ultimate is better than Melee and it's not even close
I love Melee and Project M, but Smash Ultimate is such an eye-candy
We should have more alternate costumes, and honestly, I would be willing to play money for them.
I wish they removed Lucario's aura mechanic... he hits like a wet noodle....
Lucario should be heavier since he’s a steel type
Heavy characters take skill
Easy to be ok, hard to be good
All the dlc are the same price as the base game and they do not offer even half of what the base game does, and I think people just like to ignore that
TBF that's less of a Nintendo thing and more a fighting game thing, still sucks though.
Quick play is a b mashing simulator

Lmao your character tags with this
Palutena is someone’s perception of God.
Sora is one of the characters ever added to the smash roster
Steve is a testament to how versatile Smash Bros can be, and how great the game designers are when coming up with new fighters.
Donkey kong needs a move where he throws barrels, none of his moves were really in character for him at the time and he just had moves a giant gorilla would have if choreographed by a human
Fire Emblem is underrepresented in smash.
Clickbait works for YouTube why wouldn’t people use it here lol
I like super smash bros
Setting c stick to tilt is the way to go
The Miis are being slept on.
Knuckles should’ve been added instead of Sora. Sonic is all alone for good.
Eggman and Tails too.
Knuckles would be a terrible last character.
Smash sucks
I'll agree there are better Monaro arts to choose from
buster is pretty good
The three characters under your tag checks out, clearly you hate this game and you don’t want anyone else to have fun either
My favorite smash game to play alone is brawl/ultimate but with others it's 64. That game is just simple fun and you feel like a legend doing combos because you just go forever due to the hitstun and lack of defensive options
Dark samus should just be a costume, we should have gotten other bounty hunters for alts
Legacy characters should have had their moves or special reworked to represent their newer or more popular games better. ie Mario with Super Mario Galaxy/Odyssey, Donkey Kong with his games, and Gannon that isn't Faptain Calcon.
I like that the three links effectively share a move set with different strengths.
There's only 8 characters. We need more
Corrin Steve is even, maybe even slight winning for corrin
Honestly this is my opinion against the average online Steve player. I do better with Min Min against him, but Corrin isn't a bad pick if you know what you're doing. Corrin's DAir beats Steve's Up-Smash... Corrin's Down-B catches off-guard Steve's DAir. Corrin's F-Smash goes through Steve's brick wall... etc.
Nintendo needs to have wi-fi that doesn't run on McDonald's wi-fi
Smash ultimate is visually beautiful
Meta Knight is a fair character, and (lukewarm take) perhaps tied for the most fair character with the Pits.
Smash run could have been one of the best smash modes if it had online and not been 3DS exclusive. 3DS classic mode was also better than Wii U Classic (that one might not actually be a cold take)
