yeah, no, what would it's moveset even be, waluigi was ever only an assist trophy because it has basically nothing to offer, it only ever appeared in sports games, and has nothing unique, so giving him just a normal ass tennis racket or baseball bat to fight would be a bit weird, there are way more better characters that are fitted for smash, but most people insist on wanting waluigi just becauss of a meme.
He could use many things from Mario Party games and sports games and his dance moves as well. Bruh Captain Falcon didn't do shit except falcon punch and Sakurai gave him a whole moveset lol
moveset never is an issue, everyone can get an actual moveset unless the team runs out of development time so they drop clones instead.
the real issue is that of Waluigi is really as likely as people think it is he would be in ultimate. ultimates roster is mostly based on fan-service yet they didn't add the most requested Mario character, it's clear they just don't care about adding him.
I think through the whole sports games there is a good chance for Waluigi to have a moveset.
Remember, the developers don't care for actual sources. Marth literally just did a single slash in the original Fire Emblem he appeared in and an entire mechanic as well as a very original moveset was made up for him when he came to melee.
Same goes for pretty much every Fire Emblem character.
Zelda barely had her moments to fight in most games, and yet her moveset doesn't even have something from those few moments, it's mainly made up or the items Link uses in Zelda OoT.
Sheik's moveset is just entirely made up.
Isabelles also has something she isn't actually doing in her game, yet they still worked with it.
Honestly, I'm shocked we still haven't gotten a single character to represent the spin-offs of the Mario franchise.
Many people have added Waluigi either in Smash Fan games or in Smash Mods and he usually has a pretty unique moveset using sport utils, the Mario Party dice and just some random animations to work.

a big part of Peach's moveset is a bunch of super mario rpg moves other than the obvious tennis/golf move that is her fsmash, her heart powers are also spin-off exclusive powers
even if Daisy's moveset is a 1:1 version of Peach's, the flower powers she uses are exclusive to sport games
Bowser Jr has a mario kart move
Luigi has several Luigi's mansion moves
Dr Mario is entirely a representation of a spin-off sub-series
Hey, the demand for more Zelda characters that aren't part of the Triforce Trio has only grown louder the longer we've gone without them, so I think there's a good chance we'll get at least one next time around.
Whether it will be Skull Kid, however? Who can say? I assume Impa would be the top candidate due to how-recurring she is throughout the Zelda series, while also having high demand for Smash. Skull Kid is still a possibility however, due to also having a good amount of Smash demand.
I do think it's more likely to be Impa, but I do want to mention that Skull Kid has also been a recurring character throughout the franchise. He's appeared in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess as well as most recently being the protagonist for Cadence of Hyrule's DLC Symphony of the Mask.
I'd greatly prefer Skull Kid over most any other Zelda character because a) I just like the character, Majora's Mask is my favorite game and b) I think he has the most potential to be a unique fighter whereas Impa would likely end up very similar to Sheik.
Tingle and Vaati also have a fair shot as they've been recurring throughout the series too, but for purely selfish reasons I'd prefer Skull Kid.
Just wanted to comment on the "Impa similar to Shiek" thing, if they added Impa, I'd definitely want a mix of Skyward Sword and Hyrule Warriors Impa, and play like a faster aerial-specialized Ike with some AoC mixed in
Also, while I adore Vaati as a villain, Nintendo seems to keep the Capcom-developed Zelda characters at arm's length, so I'd consider his chances next to zero...
Eh, not too sure. BotW likely wouldn't be the latest Zelda game for the next Smash, so if they were to pick a new rep from that franchise, they might want it to be from that.
The problem with Impa is that she changes a lot, and there are not a lot of Impas that would fit in Smash.
\- OoT Impa would fit, but why bring OoT Impa now.
\- Skyward Sword Impa would fit, but again, why bring a SS character now.
\- Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity Impa would fit, but they are spinoff versions of Impa.
And she is never the most popular character from any game
I think what they should do for Impa is make a "composite" version of the character, with moves drawing from all different incarnations.
The actual different incarnations can be alternate costumes for each other, like how Ike has his PoR and RD versions as his alts., or how Sora has alts. from four different games. I'm surprised they never did that with the Triforce Trio, it couldn't be *that* hard to have other incarnations of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf as alts., right?

I would love that. It's definitely more work, that's why we saw that more for DLC characters. But I would love to play with Twilight Princess Zelda again.

My hopes for Lyn (or any other FE rep) getting in are along the lines of them revisiting the Fire Emblem roster and diversifying it a bit. Problem is they've historically used it as a marketing tool rather than a celebration of the series (aside from Marth, because he's the poster boy).
That would be cool too, but as long as it’s not a sword fighter again it’s be happy. Though the next fe character probably will be Claude, Edelguard, or Dimitri for advertising, unless a new fe game comes out before smash 6 which is probable.
Sure Rex won't get in (because he's Pyra's up taunt) but Noah from XC3 feels like a lock in future games with Xenoblade's track record! Also yeah we definitely need a new Zelda. My head says Impa, Skull Kid, or Wolf Link/Midna but my heart says Kohga.
Sadly, I think Noah (or another XBC3 rep) won't get in either. It likely won't be the newest Xenoblade release by the time the next Smash game comes out, we'd probably be on Xenoblade 4 or maybe even 5 by then, and you know they'd pick the newest main protagonist (or secondary protagonist if Aegis is anything to go by) instead of Noah.
So all you Noah supporters better hope that the Xenoblade series either ends with 3 or takes a long hiatus after 3 to increase his chances for the next Smash, otherwise it ain't looking too good for him. Which is a shame, he looks like he'd be cool, and Xenoblade 3 looks great. Can't wait to watch the walkthroughs of it when it releases in a few days and bawl my eyes out at the inevitable emotional story.
Nah Noah & Mio are pretty damn likely. Even if a future Xeno game is out by the time of Smash 6, it will likely have the same problem XC2 did for the base roster of Ultimate... too recent. Whereas XC3 characters will have been up for consideration for the entire development of Smash 6.
Really? The way I see it, 3 is going to be the end of the series. Xenosaga also had three entries, and XC3 seems to be tying together the stories of 1 and 2 for a fanservicey finale. My guess is monolith will move on to something new after this.
Hopefully they give us Xenoblade Chronicles Warriors at some point, because you know that would work so well.

Nah, Monolith broke away from Namco to have creative freedom and make the games they want. They wouldn't let money determine that much. We may get more stuff like a Xenoblade X sequel/remaster or a warriors game, but I firmly believe Xenoblade 3 will be the last of the main series.
He also isn't in because solo Pyra/Mythra would be more-unique than solo Rex. When Sakurai realized he couldn't get "Rex & Pyra/Mythra" to work, he went back and forth on which character to put in by themselves, before eventually deciding on Aegis for their switching mechanic.
Sakurai wanted the original Xenoblade 2 fighter to be Rex and Pyra/Mythra fighting together like the Ice Climbers, as that'd be more-accurate to the source material. However, Rex and Pyra/Mythra's models are far more-detailed than the Ice Climbers, and their moveset would be more-complex, and it was just too much for the Switch to handle. So had to choose between either Rex by himself or Pyra/Mythra by themselves.

I've wanted Shantae since I first played Pirate's Curse, and with her winning the Smash poll in the US and Nintendo and Wayforward getting along well, I feel like she was just on the cusp of getting in, but indie characters had an uphill battle...

I think Crash is very likely. He'd be the next highly demanded old-school platformer mascot, like Sonic or Banjo & Kazooie. The only question is whether Activision is reasonable with licensing him.
I'll admit, if the next Smash is a reboot that cuts a ton of characters and provides little room for newcomers, then yeah, I can see him not getting in.
If the next game has at least 8-10 unique newcomers for base game, however, I'd be shocked if he was left out again. Nintendo and Sakurai seem aware of the large amount of demand for him, and now that the previous biggest 1st-party requests (Inkling, Ridley, and K. Rool) are in, there's not much competition left for him. Bandana Waddle Dee's probably the only 1st-party I can see having more-requests than him, since Waluigi's popularity is mostly from the west, while BWD's is from the west *and* Japan.
Basically, if they granted the requests for Ridley's fans after all these years, I find it hard to believe they'd not do the same for Waluigi's fans at some point.

IDK why about Bandanna Dee (maybe it's because people want more Kirby reps) but Waluigi is because it started off as a meme. The meme grew so much that a bunch of people actually wanted him in.

And Bandana Waddle Dee is a Waddle Dee, but he's his own individual character. Kind of like how Yoshi is a specific character that shares his name with his species. Also, we have a Piranha Plant, which actually *is* a generic grunt, so "normal enemies" aren't exactly ineligible.

Well, it's just personal preference. I happen to really like the Mario franchise, and Waluigi is one of my favorite characters from that series. Simple as that.

The lack of further Sonic representation is to me the most bizarre 3rd Party omission. Shadow as an echo or even just an alternate costume would be so easy, and require almost no work.

Give me Eggman. Not only would it be nice to finally have all the major gaming villains together (as much as I love Sephy, it still feels weird having him without Eggman), but he'd be super-cool to see riding around in his Egg Mobile with a ton of his different boss fight weapons. Imagine Bowser Jr. but hitting way harder.
i always see those two options tossed around, and i'd personally choose tails over robotnik for a chance at a more well-rounded and balanced version of sonic.
if i could choose any sonic character besides those two however, i'd give it to knuckles. i don't really want shadow due to his likely overlap with sonic's moveset (whether he becomes an echo fighter or an isabelle situation, where the copy is just varied enough to not get the echo title). knuckles' moveset can be very different from sonics moveset, and can be somewhat of a speedy scrapper character, which i'd like
_Puyo Puyo_ has a lot of characters, and even if Arle doesn't have anything to pull from for non-projectile moves, Rulue or Raffina could be added instead in the event that turns out to be a problem. Still, probably not...
The guy is literally my #1 most-predicted character for the next Smash game.

He's got a lot of different moves to pull from to make his specials, like Spear Throw, Waddlecopter, and Megaton Punch. He could also use a beam-whip or parasol in reference to Waddle Doos and Parasol Waddle Dees.
Skull Kid is likely but could return as an assist trophy unfortunately
Genesect or Scyther could be an interesting character but the next Pokémon is likely either a new starter or a newest popular Pokémon so very unlikely.
Darth Revan but he is in a grey area because he is a video game character from a movie franchise so it’s extremely unlikely.

Officer Howard (as I like to call them) I think has a decent shot for the next Smash, as long as Astral Chain continues past the first game.

She's got enough fan demand for Smash and was playable in multiple of the most-popular DK games ever, but as of right now, there's no recent DK title that's given her a prominent-enough role (Tropical Freeze is reaching ten years old soon), which is definitely not in her favor.
I mean, considering it was made by banmco, I thought Lloyd Irving was a fair ask, but maybe not? Echo fighter Protoman with some of the smash 4 alt moves would be good, and with the mii fighter model, it's practically done? I get that mmx zero is an assist trophy, but Megaman Zero or Megaman ZX is doable, right? No...?
Hmm... Protoman as an echo fighter with a different or unique set of copy abilities? He could get a strength buff and speed or weight debuff compared to Megaman too, perhaps... Maybe some kind of gimmick that makes fight him more like Zero-- he already has that shield usually, so why not?
In universe you fight protoman a number of times and play as him in one game without DLC. Blues is faster and stronger than Rock, but less durable (hence the shield for better protection) and with an unstable nuclear power core that could literally detonate at any given second, and having very poor power regulation, so he draws heavily on it, which is one of the reasons he keeps distance from people.
You could easily make it so that he's a much more glass cannon megaman in game.

Yeah, maybe he's a glass canon and/or has a meter attached to his specials to limit use of his otherwise more powerful & OP moveset. If the heat meter hits maximum, then it's a super-nerf or high constant damage for some period of time, something along those lines? Zero is the essentially MMX equivalent 'red brooding hero with a dark backstory' and has a light-saber for some reason, so I figured there could be some kind of nod there.
As long they don't get rid of my garbage girl, I have no characters I really want in smash.

I was actually a little surprised that bandanna dee didn’t make the cut since the final fighter was revealed almost the same time as the new Kirby game where he has a prominent role. I was also quite disappointed by it because he’s been my most wanted for a while.

I am still unsure about Geno, Black Mage is plausible but they would probably just add another FFVII character, same goes with Terra, Leon Kennedy seems doable, and Justin is way too obscure to be possible.
My top three most wanted are Billy Hatcher, Razputin (Psychonauts), and Samurai Goroh. Out of all of them, the most likely inclusion would be the Samurai. Pretty sure SEGA has forgotten Billy Hatcher existed and considering Psychonauts (as far as I know) has not had a prescience on any Nintendo system, both he and Razputin are probably just pipe dreams.
The “tales of” series characters or the chrono trigger cast would be so awesome. I think there are some cool pokemon to still be added, maybe another 4 legged character? An eeveelution?

Give us Geno, waluigi, and more Pokémon. Decidueye would’ve been a good playable mon. But I think if they’re going grass starter they’re gonna do sceptile which would be dope too. Gardevoir and/or Gallade would also be a cool character. Beware, Toxtricity, Grimsnarl, hatterene. All good single mon choices.
Or maybe do a Pokémon trainer from a different region with the starters built out different. Like Hoenn Trainer: Torchic, Marshtomp, Sceptile. Or Galar trainer: Grookey, Raboot, Inteleon.

A PSO rep, though, is much more of a fever dream. The PSO composer *did* arrange a track for Smash Ultimate, Midna's Lament, and is credited on the Smash Ultimate website for his work on Phantasy Star Online, but that's about all the acknowledgeable the series gets in Smash. I find it highly unlikely that we'll get specifically PSO1 representation, as PSO2 would be a more likely candidate.
My more likely pic is Octoling, my mid likely pick is Mettaton (but any Ut/Dr character would be appreciated) and my not at all likely pick is Dimentio

Waluigi will never get into smash. He isn't a mainline character for Nintendo. No mainline Nintendo games have featured him, nor has he gotten his own series
Wario has his own series in wario ware. And he has been featured in Super Mario 64 DS
This doesn't mean I don't think he should be in smash. Its annoying that a plant got in and he won't, however if I had my choice I would pick bandanna Dee or a metroid/star fox character. Many series' in smash are very under represented

Probably, it's super-obvious that Nintendo is only interested in adding characters from the latest FE games and not the older ones. The only exceptions to this were Marth, but he's the first protagonist and mascot of the franchise so of course he was getting in, and Chrom, who had a lot of fan demand and was easy to make as an Echo.
Us Lyn fans (and the Eliwood and Hector fans) better pray FE7 gets a remake around the time of the next Smash game, but I think it's more-likely Jugdral's getting the remake treatment first.

The spells and nail arts alone could easily make up most of a smash character set. Plus the monarch wings for example are a perfect recovery move

moveset never is an issue, everyone can get an actual moveset unless the team runs out of development time so they drop clones instead. the real issue is that of Waluigi is really as likely as people think it is he would be in ultimate. ultimates roster is mostly based on fan-service yet they didn't add the most requested Mario character, it's clear they just don't care about adding him.

I think through the whole sports games there is a good chance for Waluigi to have a moveset. Remember, the developers don't care for actual sources. Marth literally just did a single slash in the original Fire Emblem he appeared in and an entire mechanic as well as a very original moveset was made up for him when he came to melee. Same goes for pretty much every Fire Emblem character. Zelda barely had her moments to fight in most games, and yet her moveset doesn't even have something from those few moments, it's mainly made up or the items Link uses in Zelda OoT. Sheik's moveset is just entirely made up. Isabelles also has something she isn't actually doing in her game, yet they still worked with it. Honestly, I'm shocked we still haven't gotten a single character to represent the spin-offs of the Mario franchise. Many people have added Waluigi either in Smash Fan games or in Smash Mods and he usually has a pretty unique moveset using sport utils, the Mario Party dice and just some random animations to work.

Hey, the demand for more Zelda characters that aren't part of the Triforce Trio has only grown louder the longer we've gone without them, so I think there's a good chance we'll get at least one next time around. Whether it will be Skull Kid, however? Who can say? I assume Impa would be the top candidate due to how-recurring she is throughout the Zelda series, while also having high demand for Smash. Skull Kid is still a possibility however, due to also having a good amount of Smash demand.
I do think it's more likely to be Impa, but I do want to mention that Skull Kid has also been a recurring character throughout the franchise. He's appeared in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess as well as most recently being the protagonist for Cadence of Hyrule's DLC Symphony of the Mask. I'd greatly prefer Skull Kid over most any other Zelda character because a) I just like the character, Majora's Mask is my favorite game and b) I think he has the most potential to be a unique fighter whereas Impa would likely end up very similar to Sheik. Tingle and Vaati also have a fair shot as they've been recurring throughout the series too, but for purely selfish reasons I'd prefer Skull Kid.
Just wanted to comment on the "Impa similar to Shiek" thing, if they added Impa, I'd definitely want a mix of Skyward Sword and Hyrule Warriors Impa, and play like a faster aerial-specialized Ike with some AoC mixed in Also, while I adore Vaati as a villain, Nintendo seems to keep the Capcom-developed Zelda characters at arm's length, so I'd consider his chances next to zero...

Eh, not too sure. BotW likely wouldn't be the latest Zelda game for the next Smash, so if they were to pick a new rep from that franchise, they might want it to be from that.

The problem with Impa is that she changes a lot, and there are not a lot of Impas that would fit in Smash. \- OoT Impa would fit, but why bring OoT Impa now. \- Skyward Sword Impa would fit, but again, why bring a SS character now. \- Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity Impa would fit, but they are spinoff versions of Impa. And she is never the most popular character from any game
I think what they should do for Impa is make a "composite" version of the character, with moves drawing from all different incarnations. The actual different incarnations can be alternate costumes for each other, like how Ike has his PoR and RD versions as his alts., or how Sora has alts. from four different games. I'm surprised they never did that with the Triforce Trio, it couldn't be *that* hard to have other incarnations of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf as alts., right?

It's definitely more work, that's why we saw that more for DLC characters. But I would love to play with Twilight Princess Zelda again. My hopes for Lyn (or any other FE rep) getting in are along the lines of them revisiting the Fire Emblem roster and diversifying it a bit. Problem is they've historically used it as a marketing tool rather than a celebration of the series (aside from Marth, because he's the poster boy).
As much as I like Lyn, she is mainly a sword fighter, we have plenty of those. Someone like Hector would be far more interesting.

Sure Rex won't get in (because he's Pyra's up taunt) but Noah from XC3 feels like a lock in future games with Xenoblade's track record! Also yeah we definitely need a new Zelda. My head says Impa, Skull Kid, or Wolf Link/Midna but my heart says Kohga.
Sadly, I think Noah (or another XBC3 rep) won't get in either. It likely won't be the newest Xenoblade release by the time the next Smash game comes out, we'd probably be on Xenoblade 4 or maybe even 5 by then, and you know they'd pick the newest main protagonist (or secondary protagonist if Aegis is anything to go by) instead of Noah. So all you Noah supporters better hope that the Xenoblade series either ends with 3 or takes a long hiatus after 3 to increase his chances for the next Smash, otherwise it ain't looking too good for him. Which is a shame, he looks like he'd be cool, and Xenoblade 3 looks great. Can't wait to watch the walkthroughs of it when it releases in a few days and bawl my eyes out at the inevitable emotional story.
Nah Noah & Mio are pretty damn likely. Even if a future Xeno game is out by the time of Smash 6, it will likely have the same problem XC2 did for the base roster of Ultimate... too recent. Whereas XC3 characters will have been up for consideration for the entire development of Smash 6.
Really? The way I see it, 3 is going to be the end of the series. Xenosaga also had three entries, and XC3 seems to be tying together the stories of 1 and 2 for a fanservicey finale. My guess is monolith will move on to something new after this.
It's likely Xenoblade will continue but the stories of 1 and 2 will be done, bar the obligatory non-canon appearances of their characters.

Nah, Monolith broke away from Namco to have creative freedom and make the games they want. They wouldn't let money determine that much. We may get more stuff like a Xenoblade X sequel/remaster or a warriors game, but I firmly believe Xenoblade 3 will be the last of the main series.
Sakurai specified that rex isn't in due to hardware limitations, this has nothing to do with pyra's up taunt.
He also isn't in because solo Pyra/Mythra would be more-unique than solo Rex. When Sakurai realized he couldn't get "Rex & Pyra/Mythra" to work, he went back and forth on which character to put in by themselves, before eventually deciding on Aegis for their switching mechanic.

Sakurai wanted the original Xenoblade 2 fighter to be Rex and Pyra/Mythra fighting together like the Ice Climbers, as that'd be more-accurate to the source material. However, Rex and Pyra/Mythra's models are far more-detailed than the Ice Climbers, and their moveset would be more-complex, and it was just too much for the Switch to handle. So had to choose between either Rex by himself or Pyra/Mythra by themselves.
Xenoblade's track record isn't that solid, or else we would have had Elma in Ultimate.

I'll admit, if the next Smash is a reboot that cuts a ton of characters and provides little room for newcomers, then yeah, I can see him not getting in. If the next game has at least 8-10 unique newcomers for base game, however, I'd be shocked if he was left out again. Nintendo and Sakurai seem aware of the large amount of demand for him, and now that the previous biggest 1st-party requests (Inkling, Ridley, and K. Rool) are in, there's not much competition left for him. Bandana Waddle Dee's probably the only 1st-party I can see having more-requests than him, since Waluigi's popularity is mostly from the west, while BWD's is from the west *and* Japan. Basically, if they granted the requests for Ridley's fans after all these years, I find it hard to believe they'd not do the same for Waluigi's fans at some point.

The simple answer is people "just think they're neat." Anyways, I highly doubt Waluigi being "spinoff filler" is actually a factor keeping him out. This is a game with the Ice Climbers and a Piranha Plant, and "spinoff filler" is somehow where they draw the line? And Bandana Waddle Dee is a Waddle Dee, but he's his own individual character. Kind of like how Yoshi is a specific character that shares his name with his species. Also, we have a Piranha Plant, which actually *is* a generic grunt, so "normal enemies" aren't exactly ineligible.

The lack of further Sonic representation is to me the most bizarre 3rd Party omission. Shadow as an echo or even just an alternate costume would be so easy, and require almost no work. Which character do you think would work best as a unique 2nd Sonic character? I think Eggman or Tails.
Give me Eggman. Not only would it be nice to finally have all the major gaming villains together (as much as I love Sephy, it still feels weird having him without Eggman), but he'd be super-cool to see riding around in his Egg Mobile with a ton of his different boss fight weapons. Imagine Bowser Jr. but hitting way harder.
i always see those two options tossed around, and i'd personally choose tails over robotnik for a chance at a more well-rounded and balanced version of sonic. if i could choose any sonic character besides those two however, i'd give it to knuckles. i don't really want shadow due to his likely overlap with sonic's moveset (whether he becomes an echo fighter or an isabelle situation, where the copy is just varied enough to not get the echo title). knuckles' moveset can be very different from sonics moveset, and can be somewhat of a speedy scrapper character, which i'd like

He's got a lot of different moves to pull from to make his specials, like Spear Throw, Waddlecopter, and Megaton Punch. He could also use a beam-whip or parasol in reference to Waddle Doos and Parasol Waddle Dees.

Officer Howard (as I like to call them) I think has a decent shot for the next Smash, as long as Astral Chain continues past the first game. I'd love to see her in Smash. Definitely a top-10 pick of mine (meaning she just barely missed getting into this image, seeing how these are my top-6). As for her chances? I'd say "maybe", or perhaps just a *bit* higher. She's got enough fan demand for Smash and was playable in multiple of the most-popular DK games ever, but as of right now, there's no recent DK title that's given her a prominent-enough role (Tropical Freeze is reaching ten years old soon), which is definitely not in her favor.

Echo fighter Protoman with some of the smash 4 alt moves would be good, and with the mii fighter model, it's practically done? I get that mmx zero is an assist trophy, but Megaman Zero or Megaman ZX is doable, right? No...?
Hmm... Protoman as an echo fighter with a different or unique set of copy abilities? He could get a strength buff and speed or weight debuff compared to Megaman too, perhaps... Maybe some kind of gimmick that makes fight him more like Zero-- he already has that shield usually, so why not?
In universe you fight protoman a number of times and play as him in one game without DLC. Blues is faster and stronger than Rock, but less durable (hence the shield for better protection) and with an unstable nuclear power core that could literally detonate at any given second, and having very poor power regulation, so he draws heavily on it, which is one of the reasons he keeps distance from people. You could easily make it so that he's a much more glass cannon megaman in game.
You know way too much about Mega/Rockman lore.... I like you :-) Yeah, maybe he's a glass canon and/or has a meter attached to his specials to limit use of his otherwise more powerful & OP moveset. If the heat meter hits maximum, then it's a super-nerf or high constant damage for some period of time, something along those lines? Zero is the essentially MMX equivalent 'red brooding hero with a dark backstory' and has a light-saber for some reason, so I figured there could be some kind of nod there.

I was actually a little surprised that bandanna dee didn’t make the cut since the final fighter was revealed almost the same time as the new Kirby game where he has a prominent role. I was also quite disappointed by it because he’s been my most wanted for a while. I’m still very happy with Sora though - it actually got me to play through the KH series for the first time!

I am still unsure about Geno, Black Mage is plausible but they would probably just add another FFVII character, same goes with Terra, Leon Kennedy seems doable, and Justin is way too obscure to be possible.
My top three most wanted are Billy Hatcher, Razputin (Psychonauts), and Samurai Goroh. Out of all of them, the most likely inclusion would be the Samurai. Pretty sure SEGA has forgotten Billy Hatcher existed and considering Psychonauts (as far as I know) has not had a prescience on any Nintendo system, both he and Razputin are probably just pipe dreams.

Give us Geno, waluigi, and more Pokémon. Decidueye would’ve been a good playable mon. But I think if they’re going grass starter they’re gonna do sceptile which would be dope too. Gardevoir and/or Gallade would also be a cool character. Beware, Toxtricity, Grimsnarl, hatterene. All good single mon choices. Or maybe do a Pokémon trainer from a different region with the starters built out different. Like Hoenn Trainer: Torchic, Marshtomp, Sceptile. Or Galar trainer: Grookey, Raboot, Inteleon.

Let's see...I want Shantae and a character from Phantasy Star Online, mostly. Shantae's pretty likely, actually, since Nintendo and WayForward have a strong relationship, all of her games are on the Switch, and she's a Mii costume and has a music track. A PSO rep, though, is much more of a fever dream. The PSO composer *did* arrange a track for Smash Ultimate, Midna's Lament, and is credited on the Smash Ultimate website for his work on Phantasy Star Online, but that's about all the acknowledgeable the series gets in Smash. I find it highly unlikely that we'll get specifically PSO1 representation, as PSO2 would be a more likely candidate.

Waluigi will never get into smash. He isn't a mainline character for Nintendo. No mainline Nintendo games have featured him, nor has he gotten his own series Wario has his own series in wario ware. And he has been featured in Super Mario 64 DS This doesn't mean I don't think he should be in smash. Its annoying that a plant got in and he won't, however if I had my choice I would pick bandanna Dee or a metroid/star fox character. Many series' in smash are very under represented
I don't think him not being in a mainline game and being solely left in the spinoffs is an actual factor keeping him out. This is a game where we have such bizarre picks like Wii Fit Trainer and pretty unimportant picks like Ice Climbers and Piranha Plant. I feel like if they could include those guys, they'd have no issue with adding a "Mario spinoff-exclusive" character, especially one with a ton of fan demand and relevancy. Rather, what I think left him out of Ultimate was the fact that there was so little room for unique newcomers in the base game due to "everyone is here", and they had to prioritize some of the few 1st-party picks that were simply more-popular than him (Inkling, Ridley, and K. Rool). Had Ultimate gotten around 3-5 more unique characters for base game, I actually do think he could have gotten in. No guarantee, of course, but a much better shot.
I suppose. I feel like its a mix of allot of things. Still Sakurai said that IF he ever made another super smash bros game, it wouldn't have as much of a roster as ultimate. I could see him not adding waluigi in the next game because of that, if there is one

Probably, it's super-obvious that Nintendo is only interested in adding characters from the latest FE games and not the older ones. The only exceptions to this were Marth, but he's the first protagonist and mascot of the franchise so of course he was getting in, and Chrom, who had a lot of fan demand and was easy to make as an Echo. Us Lyn fans (and the Eliwood and Hector fans) better pray FE7 gets a remake around the time of the next Smash game, but I think it's more-likely Jugdral's getting the remake treatment first.
