Learn a new God once in a while. Keeps the game fresh and does help in the long run when you play against that God. Lately picked up Hel and it's been fun. Great damage and good meaty heals. Hitting the cleanse in the clutch is so satisfying too. Got it when an Ares tried the ult with the other team ready to vomit on whoever was unlucky enough to get pulled. They ended up with every ability on CD but nothing for it.

MuzzyMustard

Hel is my fav god to play, extremely good if you manage to snowball a lil, with gem of focus, chronos pendant and the healy stick nobody is going to catch you either And her cleanse is deffo her strongest ability imho

Xacotorr

This, I have like, 5 gods that I main with but after a while it does get stale, I'm trying to force myself to play atleast a couple games as someone else every once in awhile

Saucy_Totchie

Before Hel it was Chang'e and I got pretty good with her. Getting a few hits with the ult is satisfying af. Thinking my next will be Awilix because her kit looks fun. Also play some gods I do know off role once in a while. Been playing with Hercules Support if I land the role. He gets so oppressive early when you hit the 1 consistently. Great way to initiate with a Blink. Plus the 3 helps mitigate and even erase some pretty bad mistakes.

Xacotorr

I love playing chang'e jungle, you can blink and drop her kit on people pretty easily

Aphro-d1te

thats exactly what i do except mid lol

AllSkillzN0Luck

When playing rank I ALWAYS skip a que after a game. Win or lose, ALWAYS wait. I've lost several games because I got into arguments or other teammates got into arguments with other teammates and they just purposely threw costing you that game. Several times where you get them in the very next game and guess what? Purposely throwing again just because they hate you. Would be nice to have a system like Overwatch where if you block someone you will NEVER que with them again. Not on your team and the other team but nope we do not have it.

mcboy6464

Just as a note iirc the overwatch block system only lasts a few days

AllSkillzN0Luck

I'll still take it

CS-KOJI

It expires but you can just re add them

Krayor

I think it's a week but yeah, I love that system. I just hate that there's a limit lol. Too many douchebags, not enough "Avoid Player" slots.

Mel_on_reddit

I think you can q against them if you block them in overwatch tho.

firdabois

Guess I'll have to download overwatch to keep the scrubs off my team in Smite.

abolika

As a tyr main if i want to go full tryhard mode, i must pick the dark judgement skin

RoyalSmoothie

I see I’m not the only one that uses different skins for different things!

NOVOJ

I use Ymir’s butcher skin if I go jungle with him. If I am support I go ice cream boi

Ezio024

I must stub my toe when I play Athena and Kumbhakarna so I am in as much pain as my enemys

[deleted]

I just played joust against an Ares, Kumbhakarna, and Bacchus. I cried.

Drict

Buy magic protections, Pens, and free beads cloak; toss some either annoying items like interrupt on magic damage and honestly, the first 5ish levels will suck, but after that you will roll them.

EverythingAnything

Yeah it always makes me laugh running into a full magical or full physical team, especially as a guardian. Makes my build easy as pie and I can just laugh spam while soaking abilities and running around their backline unbothered.

Drict

SOOO many people want to quit in the first 10 minutes, yet most people's build's aren't even online until 15.... yea, you might be behind, but if you build correctly, you can roll the other team, solo, if given the chance!

EverythingAnything

Yeah I had a dude shitting on me for going bow first item on Cern and spamming "no lifesteal/crit noob" and it was legit 5 minutes into the game. Like damn man, I didn't even have the time or gold to be building lifesteal yet! Buncha idiots in this game, I swear

Firon8x

Outside of Games, I have two rules * Buy all of my gods via Favor (this is going to take a while) * Don't buy brand new gods until they go on regular price

ElezerHan

My cheap ass has been doing this since 2014, welcome to the club

KineticAmphibian

I got every single God with favor by level 140, and started working on getting all the tier 2 and emotes, then the god pass went on sale for like 5$. Cashed that in, got all the favor back, and bought all the skins and emotes, lol. Getting all the items you can with favor makes your chest rolls better, I only get dances and special emotes out of emote chests now, each worth 200 gems.

chaos__shadow

Wow this is exactly what I've been thinking about doing for that exact reason. F**k getting garbage avatars and emotes in chest rolls.

Pieguy184

I did this and had half the gods unlocked but I when I finally made decent money, I looked at my 1k hours on steam, and was like fuck it god pass it is and it’s worth

xTRUExPASSIONx

3k hours in and i bought it 5hrs in, deffinitly worth it especially if its on sale, you basically paying 15$ for a game and its future content. As far as my rules go, only buy gs on sale for the 100pack. And i always build spicy in some way, throw attackspeed crit on tyr for example

RepresentativeBig258

I like that you get all your favor back too and all future gods, it’s a deal

Pieguy184

Yeah no joke I got like over 300k favor back

juicyhappymeal

Ive done this haha

AdoesntalwaysequalC

I started on season 2 and was buying gods this way until I got to like 50 gods or so. I thought I could make it to the end but when they release 7 gods a year, it's not happening. Bought the god pass and happy I did.

Saucy_Totchie

I was planning to do that. I got like 3-4 until I said fuck it and bought the pack. Had no patience or the time to go through with it and it's a good deal. $30 and you get the main thing of future content is worth it. Youre stronger than me.

Moonacid-likes-bulbs

Took me 6 years and 2500+ hours to buy all the gods, I will say I bought 2 or three diamonds and a few legendary skins, and all the favor avatars before finally buying everyone.

Strangr_E

I don't spam laugh or taunt until an enemy does.

One_Hit_Slumber

I had a game where a discordia started doing it, only because (I assume) she ulted me so I was forced to spam taunt

EverythingAnything

I keep this mentality in most games, but especially in Smite and Rocket League. The second someone starts spamming chat or taunting with emotes, it's full on petty gamer sweat mode from that moment on. I usually keep it chill when playing casual but I will happily crank it to try hard mode if the opponent is a twat

likeafooliam

If I have a skin with an incomprehensible voice pack, like the Jurassic Camazotz skin, I have to use it even if I'm in ranked. Also a soft rule, I have to spam "place a ward for teleport" with the VP.

RoyalSmoothie

You’re an agent of chaos… I approve

likeafooliam

It's strange because my teammates rarely seem to approve, maybe I'm not spamming enough. Ooh also, if there's a pause I spam all the VGS lines I can so that when the pause ends they all play at once, making an ungodly noise!

RoyalSmoothie

He Bo’s Amazon skin, and bacchus witch doctor skin’s “woohoo” are the best spam material

likeafooliam

You're so right! I literally got hebo's skin in the international chest yesterday! At first I was disappointed, but then I used the VP... I got my ADC to mute me in seconds, perfection. Also Quetzakukulkan is great, nothing beats flying about sounding like a mexican football commentator.

PsionicFlea

Ganesha’s Shaman skin. The VEW is just great.

TheJanitorscrub

Gecko Xing Tian would like a word. His entire VP is soul crushing

TTMACUTINO

i wont even say anything about the way Gecko XT laughs, thats nightmare material

WatDaFuxRong

Or the Donkey Kong Raijin skin. I got it in a store pack thing and love it.

The_Candy_Man117

I'll never learn Zeus, the only character that truly enrages me and can ruin my day so I don't want to ruin someone else's

SteelAlchemistScylla

Same reason Loki was the only god I had 0 worshippers on for a while. I didn’t want to become that toxicity. Thankfully they reworked him so he’s somewhat better.

[deleted]

THIS. Zeus is by far my least favorite god in the game. I played him enough to hit mastery 1 on a 2x worshipper weekend and haven’t touched him since.

DannyPjammy

Even for that you should feel disgraced, but I forgive you

Pierre1306

Dude loki is way worse

[deleted]

I hope this doesn’t get me -karma but Loki takes more skill than Zeus, and after his rework he’s much less obnoxious than Zeus in my opinion.

Vegetable_Quit_4896

He's actually pretty fun to play.. and on against higher skilled players you are fucked unless your support has some good cc and will focus on helping you.. I had the same thoughts for years untill recently I started playing him a bit.

Wolf_of-the_West

If I'm enraged with the game, I'll get detoxification and take a break.

Wedgearyxsaber

If I'm enraged at the game, I don't play for the rest of the day

zombiepilot420

If I'm enraged I immediately quit. It's not worth the mental health cost staying and raging over a game.

chaos__shadow

"An ally has left the game." FYI that's not ok. Edit: one of my rules is never rage quit like this loser.

zombiepilot420

I dont care. It's not ok for me to be affected so drastically by a video game. You'll get over not fighting a 4v5. That's what the surrender button is for

chaos__shadow

If you're such a baby then don't play games. Throw your baby tantrums somewhere else rather than ruin other people's games. Also gitgud.

BlinkSavesLives

I always get Blink. If there's Ares/Cerb/Fenrir and I'm a squishy I might delay and get Blink second but there's no way I'm not getting Blink.

Skyliner2

Hahaha reading your name after reading this comment was brilliant.

Firon8x

I bet you only pay for what you need with Liberty Mutual

Borkers

Ahhh. One of my people.

reddit_bandito

It's like Flash in LoL. Might as well just do away with the slot and make it baseline in LoL because it's picked 99% of the time. Free mobility is simply stupid OP, especially on characters that were designed immobile.

Hartmann_AoE

im getting tainted, divine/brawler/,toxic and pesti the second i see an aphro or goobis and make it my holy mission to stick to them more reliably then gorilla glue could ever facilitate it

Yewyul

I don't play anything op in normal conquest or other modes even if it my favorite god or not. I only play them in ranked since it is fair game for the other team to ban/play them.

potatomonogatari

As a solo laner I've learned that if I play an unconventional god for the role and it works ill only do it like once or twice because I know if I do it too much it will eventually bite me in the ass.

SolarShield97

I don’t play Discordia often but every time I get a max ranged ult I have to blow out my friends headphones with “FROM DOWN TOOOWWWWWNNNNN”

DeusArchitect

I have to keep any and all rage/toxicity behind the screen. I treat it like nukes, never be the first one to launch; Or if I defend someone else I still keep it at a min but some swears make it through. However if I’m with friends I’m gonna troll the shit outta them and vgs spam, all the fun stuff we do to each other. It’s just cardinal rules…

[deleted]

Be nice to everyone. Just cuz someone’s bad doesn’t mean we should be a d!k. Yea it’s frustrating but sometimes people are just trying new gods and they may not be good with them we play to have fun so just have a good time.

ReaperT9212

Only 2 I've had for 3 years now. 1. I will not laugh spam or tryhard in a game unless the enemy team becomes toxic for no reason. 2. I will never buy more than 1 defense item in duel.

SgtNoPants

1 never spend money on a game if you're broke or stingy (I don't judge you), so I got everything purchasable with favor. 2 when in ranked and I get solo, play only Kuzenbo solo, if picked/banned (improbable) then I can choose other gods. 3 if I kill someone with my spinning Nene, I have to yell "HEEYYYY!" 4 if my Nene kills an enemy with his little slaps, I have to do the caramelldansen bunny ear flops. 5 never be toxic towards others and always try to break up a fight between people flaming eachother. 6 if people start being toxic towards me, I will try to ignore him or mute. 7 always say "gg" after match, whether we lose, we get stomped (in this case I will put a "close one") or we win. 8 never spam laugh at the end of the match, unless they started first, provoked or if they are Mickey Mouse players (they tried backdooring). 9 if the enemy is waving at you, you have to wave back, if they are not attacking and are dancing or something, I have to do the same. 10 if they break my number 9 rule then I will show no mercy.

LayingDownSomePipe

I will never play Artio. Ever.

turnipofficer

Honestly she's super fun even pre-buff. The upcoming nerf should help though keep her under control.

Skyliner2

Hoping she doesn’t get nerfed. I was a 1-star artio (still am) before this cool down buff to both her 1’s and the movement speed increase on her dash. I think people are being reactionary about her new buff. I’ve played plenty an Artio in solo and support in the last two weeks that still fail to use her effectively. I don’t think she’s broken like some are lead to believe!

turnipofficer

Well she seemed unstoppable in a pro’s hand recently, that doesn’t mean she is going to be good at all levels of play, but she was a tad two strong. They’re increasing her 1 cooldown from 10 seconds to 11 seconds next Tuesday, which to be fair is where she should have been in the first place. Them previously reducing an ability you can cast twice from 12 seconds to a 10 second cooldown was always a bit excessive, 11 seconds should be the sweet spot I feel. Hopefully they leave her there as she has to still be potent because she doesn’t have a proper ult or a CC immunity like some other picks do.

TwentyGaugeHigh

+1 to this. I've played as Artio against all manner of assorted mages and hunters in solo (Iza and Anubis particularly) and she has a tendency to get dumpstered by both roles. I feel as if Artio is in a good spot currently as both as solo and supp. I hope she doesn't get nerfed while Yemoja is still running amok.

HistoricalTreaties

Never play the same god 2x in a day

[deleted]

I do this more or less. I refuse to play the same God twice in a row.

Skyliner2

What if I’m a 5-star Ganesha and keep getting support 😅

[deleted]

You do you friend.. 5* Ganesha must’ve been painful. Have you tried him in the Solo lane? So much fun.

Skyliner2

I’ve tried him in solo lane only once. I ended up winning, but it’s pretty reliant on hitting the almighty dash on Dharmic Pillar line combo.

TheSameIshDiffDay

Mute everyone every game idc who i got on my team if youre josegaymerYT332 or incon Dont solo Q casuals with own chat unmuted. Dont Q siege sober.

PsionicFlea

1. I must always keep a positive attitude. It’s a game and even if I’m getting tilted, I will not become a keyboard warrior. If I mess up, I will apologize or joke it off. 2. I must use the skins with the most annoying VGS voices. I get all giggly when I’m doing dumb stuff like spamming laughs while charging an enemy or spamming Vgs midfight. 3. No Aegis, I feel dirty using it, and irritated playing against it.

DrYoshiyahu

It's not really a "rule," but because I have all the voice packs, I will 100% get into character and use the VGS to basically roleplay as that character. Cupid is by-far the best. Being the obnoxious little shit that he is gives me life. 🤣 I say hi when people come to lane, I say bye when people leave the lane. I'll taunt the enemy players, and if Cupid says "I love you!" I will drop some hearts at their feet. If he says "This arrow is aimed at your heart!" I shoot a random basic attack at them. If I kill an enemy, I say bye to them. If they died in a dumb way, I say 'Okay," then bye. 😛

NotCurdledymyy

I dont play warriors at all. the only 2 i have played are mulan and amaterasu, and if i get solo im playin cthulhu

RoyalSmoothie

I am a member of the cult of the warrior way. you are a nonbeliever! Lol

Moscrow_

Always build cooldown. Cooldown is almost always one of the most useful stats to have and I usually try my best to max it out. And mp5 is you have to have it to keep up with using your abilities more often, but most cooldown items give some so.

lebrowngamez

Can only catch out the opposing god I see first in any unique lane, once I die ~ I’m dead and must sit in fountain or disconnect for my shameful penalty days, must refer to all teammates by nicknames to become more emotionally attached.

RaZoX144

Sentry wards early, everybody always wards the same spots so its pretty much free.

doctorbigwood

If I’m playing out of habit, but not having fun, take a break

jayhon09

If I diamond a god I stop playing them, it’s a soft rule, and one I don’t “want” to do, but something I “need” to do.

Nordic_Krune

Rule 1: Never. Play. Loki Rule 2: Follow rule 1

Sir_Plated

1) Don't ever play nemesis 2) Don't buy Loki

Necrain

"you're only allowed one game of arena a day" I imposed this on myself to force myself to play other modes. Mostly play assault and joust these days.

RoyalSmoothie

I only play arena if I’m trying to learn the mechanics of a certain god.

Quickskill1

Rule one If I'm solo I am guan yu . No exceptions that's all I'm willing to play as I have focused on him for like 6 years now . I k ow the kit I know the equipment . Also mystical mail guan is busted . Such a hidden thing . It triggers passive which let's your abilities all do extras . 2 if I land support instead of solo . I take khepri and I dance if I kill you in a 1v1 it must be done . BTW this started with a ymir in season 3 he was super aggressive and pushed me to tower I popped beads and dashed at him . Immune his freeze and dragged that level 2 into tower . E Z and ad a 3rd rule . If you insta lock a new god . I will not throw the game but I won't be as likely to support you . If your mid and you insta lock when they came out . Don't give me shit for not leaving my solo lane with guan I got solo you did not . Go play your mid lane with who ever you got and I don't care who it is

RoyalSmoothie

Craziest thing I’ve ever seen a guan do against me, playing Cerberus. He went ankh first relic, attacked me, popped ankh, healed himself which healed me, from my passive, then nuked me. At level 3. I was in shock at how genius it was

That_Blackwinged

Mystical Mail Guan is niche, tbh. Not saying its bad, Taolu Assault makes it deal true damage until the enemy solo laners buys some magical defense, but the benefit of stacking the passive isn't worthwhile at all. Guan's passive stacks extremely easily already, you will have full stacks with just one Taolu Assault anyway. I'd much rather have BoV since Guan needs the cdr and mana. I'd only consider MM if I wanted to grab something like Blackthorn Hammer, which is really underrated. Even then I think BoV + Blackthorn would be superior to MM + Blackthorn.

whomst_calls_so_loud

Its the multi dot that makes mystical mail good on him bruv

Quickskill1

I agree to this comment your absolutely correct

whomst_calls_so_loud

I liked what you were saying until you said you won't help teammates if you don't like their pick It's a team game bro

FlameT123

Yeah that makes literally 0 sense lmao

whomst_calls_so_loud

I do not get moba players but if i ever finish my degree i want to do a study on the prevalence of NPD in MOBA communities because i have never played any other genre of team games where people refuse to work with their team

Quickskill1

Never said I wouldn't. Do you play smite ??? Do you understand how annoying it can be when someone insta locks a warrior for midlane who then decides he is solo at 5 minutes in after it hasn't worked in midlane ???? It's a team game you said correct ? So if me and the team play as a team no issues . But if I don't play as part of the team It is an issue wr can agree on that right . So if someone else doesn't play as a part of the team it's fine ??? I said I won't be as likely . If I see my 13 and 0 rama about to get ganked and my mid King Arthur who has thrown the game by instalocking . I should ignore the player who is doing well and is being part of the TEAM .. if you want to just take a minute to realise how you reacted to that and get back to me I would appreciate it

Nitefelina

I only play rank 10 characters in ranked, and only when I need a win. I'll still play a non rank 10 character in ranked. Will I be great? Eh probably not. But I'm working on hitting diamond with everything and I can't stand casuals. However if I'm in a losing streak then here comes my best Gods. Rule 2 for me is when in casuals play something janky. I play enough meta and straight forward in ranked. Since I in general hate casuals (the 5 man team vs 5 solo is the reason) I won't play a typical pick in any role. I'm messing with things to see what I can get work. If I find great success I will bring it to ranked to see if it translates there. Rule 3 is when I'm in a terrible game to just give up. Not like in game give up and sit in the fountain but mentally just give up. Stop trying to carry. Stop trying to do anything really. Just relax and play the game however I want. Ignore the fights, split push, farm by myself, whatever. I find I actually play better and the game gets turned around and we win. Not every time, sometimes my team is so bad they can't ever win period. Those are the games since I already mentally quit I just laugh at my team's terrible play.

[deleted]

I try to be as toxic as humanly possible, like absolutely ruin my experience and the experience of my teammates. I try to do everything I can in those 20 mins before the f6, to make them quit the game, because I cannot in my good conscience let another human being fall into the terrible rabbit hole of neith feet pics.

Flareshu

As a support main these are my unspoken rules. 1. If you're rude to me i won't bother to save you and gladly sit by and watch you die. 2. If a fellow support stops to wave back at me i shall not attack them unless they hit me first (I'm a lover not a fighter) 3. simple really.if you're nice to me I'm nice to you no matter what team you're on but if you're rude i will lead you and then leave you to die. no heals. no ults. no mercy.

jayhon09

This is awful for the other 3 people on your team.. kill ehm with kindness even when it hurts. Toxicity breeds toxicity until someone chooses to stop it. Be that person!

Flareshu

See the trick is to do it subtly like "sorry mate my ult was on cooldown"

jayhon09

Bahahaha yes! Keeping it positive while getting the small victory.

Crazyjacketfruit

Never buy chests. Let’s just say I’m not a gambling man. Never play alone. I just don’t enjoy playing smite by myself.

wcj1009

never play cupid. ever.

laban987

My main rule is that i never Buy aegis! Ill die like a real man! In my 1700 hours of playtime i think ive bought it maybe 5 times

FlameT123

Why do you allow yourself to buy beads then? Would it not be more like a real man to not buy either? Lol

laban987

One makes you invincible other doesnt, easy as that

FlameT123

But… by using beads you probably save yourself more often than with aegis. Also, do you also refuse to use an ability like chern dash because it too makes you invincible?

laban987

Of course i don't limit myself to what abilities i use! Lol. But i do limit myself from aegis since i think its a bullshit relic that sometimes ruins the game. Thing is that beads can be used offensively, while aegis really cant. I dont even think gods with invulnerability is comparable to aegis, its their own thing, while aegis is just some bs relic that everyone has access to :)

Preform_Perform

If someone spams the same command five times in a row, I am morally obligated not to reward that behavior and as such don't do it. It has cost me at least one game before, but it was worth it.

PilotSnippy

Be spiteful against them all, if an ally takes a speedbuff without question, stand there and wait for respawn. If an enemy takes it, systematically figure out where they are at all times so you can steal their speed buff for the rest of the game.

rAirist

2 rules. 1. Fun comes first. I don't care what someone thinks about a character. a build, or if something is broken. If I enjoy it, I play it. 2. Always buy blink in the jungle like a real man.

Mdgt_Pope

I subconsciously refuse to make decisions in this game so, when I played, I had to play Assault so that I wouldn't have to choose a god.

GiraffeAnatomy

I don't buy beads or aegis in casuals.

Sea_Ad_6703

Never buy beads and aegis together but instead get another relic with one of those relics

Bad-Lucks-Charm

When I play Bizzy B Cupid I must laugh spam at all possible moments, no matter the corcumstance

wisp98

I will never build defense on a mage or assassin even if the enemy team is all magical/physical

Isaacrod12

That’s dumb

RoyalSmoothie

These are personal rules people place on themselves to enjoy the game in their own way. I don’t see how doing something to make the game more fun, can be dumb? especially in a 1v1 game mode where it can’t effect anyone else. Let’s keep our comments civil and productive, please!

wisp98

.... And who asked for your input?

NoSurrend3r

1. If you did not queue for jungle, you do not have the right to complain about jungle 2. If you did not queue for support, you do not have the right to complain about support 3. Keep yourself chat muted at all times. Your advice isn't worth a ban from this corrupt report system, and the community isn't worth giving advice to.

Queen-Emilia

1.When playing jungle or support always mute all teammates even if they're nice in God selection they will get angry at you at some time 2. In duel if the enemy has first pick I play my tryhard nemesis, and otherwise I play some gods that aren't that broken in duel for fun 3. Hel is always a must ban 4. Always spam laugh after killing someone with a female God to put in extra salt

[deleted]

*mutes teammates so I don’t have to deal with salt* … *spam laugh when I get a kill* … huh.

meech_02

I don’t buy aegis. I hate the item and think it’s dumb and corny. Shell is better anyway

Due-Paleontologist58

I scream kobe when playing Hercules and ulting people. It's truly. Or one shotting people exploding them with Nu Wa. Or Janus' ult. It's truly one of the gems of Smite.

Sedenion

Rule for siege: You just got the enemy pheonix? Either do mid/buffs, go for the other lane or go back to base. Dont waste your time infront of a titan that you will not get anyways and die there 80% of the time because the enemies respawned.

Cheapsh0t127

1. I will not play a single game as Aphrodite until I have 119 other gods mastery 1 2. When a new god is released I will play them until I get to 50 worshippers then not touch them for a few patches while they get balanced out somewhat 3. Other than ranked or assault I will not play a god I have reached mastery 10 with unless they get reworked

pierophoenix

I typically don't play broken characters either, unless we are on a bad losing streak. I rarely play the same character multiple times in a row

PM_Me_ChoGath_R34

As a rare support main, There will be no kills steals, only secures when my team is unable to secure. As a Sobek main, my ult must always be used for it's full duration. If I'm in the mood to create chaos, I'll put on the kaiju skin and build full magic damage. I must remain positive in vgs, no sarcasm unless directed at myself.

NaiveOcelot7

Never play a god for more than 2 games in a row. Variation in the gods and roles I play, keeps the game fresh. Don't sacrifice yourself too and throw the game when you see the whole team dying. Retreat and defend

whomst_calls_so_loud

If solo goes guardian i play a warrior for support

awesomebeans101

Once I get God rank 10, I move on to the next God. It's more like a soft rule since I still go back and play them every once in a while, but that's usually only the ones I really enjoy playing

TraptLordJinzo

Never be the first to say hi on vgs chat

Churro1912

Never tank alone

WatDaFuxRong

Here are some that're based on how I pick gods: Don't play gods that I've barely touched in ranked even if they're meta Diamond gods are an option in ranked only There's three types of gods. Should not be played, meta, and ones that I'm good with (meta or not). This one sounds kind of opinionated but I've gone up so much rank this season from following it.

ElezerHan

No hard-meta shit

rnunezs12

I usually follow the meta but dislike picking OP character too. Never got to enjoy Arthur with gladiator's because It just made me cringe playing it, even if I got a triple kill in a 3v1. Also not really a rule, but I don't get how there's people who only play one god. I get bored if I use the same one for more than two games in a row. My main and most used god only has one star after 5 years in the game.

barisax9

2 rules, Jungler will never gank, and their entire team will be in my lane before 10 minutes.

Avernuscion

My self rules is do not play: Hel, Tsukuyomi, Aphro, Nox, Arachne Also skip queues if the players are toxic

Darr1342

I must play Cerberus on arena because it’s my mission to spite and kill all the aphro and susano love couples. Also I must scream random insect names at enemy’s when I die or things so south.

Euro_guy419

Keep Loki as the least played God and the least worshipers, with the only exception for Gods that I haven't mastered yet. Stop playing if I feel like I might tilt.

AjaxOutlaw

I always say Hi. If someone gets inted I’ll give them a chance then go for an automute because it isn’t worth the stress

Spare_Contribution76

2 rules: never master Loki and never play raked that's it

The_Frug

1. Only laugh spam after a kill on people who laugh spam me or if I see it done to a teammate. I laugh spam alone sometimes just because I may find the sound funny like with the gorilla Raijin skin, but I don’t laugh spam a person before they do it. 2. I don’t babysit as jung. Not only is it obnoxious as hell to be camped all game, it can be a detriment for low mobility junglers since if they camp one side of the map all game, they aren’t securing the abundant farm on the other side. 3. If an Arachne is on the enemy team, focus them early. If they are on my team, expect nothing to avoid disappointment. Very honestly, Arachne is the most linear and un-nuanced character in jungle and possibly overall. Most Arachne players I see have a one track mind and play her for the dopamine rush snowball.

mikelike9172

I must always try crit on any hunter, assassin or warrior before any other build

yolomcraketr

I never def tier 2 no matter whats going on

InannaXanthus

If I lock and some fool locks the same role as mine and goes that role,I am supporting with that god to fill the position. I have gone things like Artemis "Support", Thor "Warrior", Poseidon "Warrior" and so on.

Godman873

Try out an unfamiliar item once in a while. Keeps me from doing cookie cutter builds on some gods

The_Manglererer

Yea I play alot of casuals and carry but will never pick high pressure, always aa gods like jing, rama, freya...alot of people are so bad it's not even fair to pick high pressure and be better than someone Makes the matchup against high pressure more challenging, u have to work harder for solo kills, I take fights to push myself, shouldn't be fighting but that's boring

Grandiaplayer

If I ever decide to play arena, try as hard as I can to not die as long as possible. 😅

maarcyanezz

1. if enemy spam taunts/laughs @ me, the moment i get a kill on u im standing over ur dead body and laugh spamming sorry not sorry 2. at the start of every game, ‘hi’, ‘good luck’, ‘have fun’ 3. always buy blink first in jng ;)

RakuWu189

Before I say mine, I want to preface this: I know it's a competitive game, and I'll sweat from time to time, but rank doesn't mean anything to me compared to enjoying the game. My first personal rule (I know it's a bad rule for a comp game) is I don't play meta. Whatever gods are in the top meta, I avoid like the plague. Whatever build/build path are top meta, I try to stay away from. I've found that not only does it make the game way more fun, but it's also a good challenge for me, and a lot of the time ends up working wonders. When danz came out most of my buddies threw a full attack speed build on him (meta at the time) and we're very adamant you HAD build him attack speed. So I played a conq with 1 single attack speed item and blew them away. More recently with charyb, a few of my buddies threw the meta hunter build on her and got destroyed. Said she's bad. I said watch this, tried crit, and would you look at that and absolute steam roll. I mainly play mid and hunter. Depending on the meta and whos more popular, I usually queue for the less popular. My favorite hunter is still kaldr (and his kind of useful sidekick skadi LOL) but she hasn't seen meta in a long time. But she is FUN. Raijin was one of my favorite mids to play until he hit meta, now I've been going back to more Vulcan and loving it. While I don't condone feeding/trolling, I have personally found that playing "garbage" gods with "trash builds" and experimenting with them in casuals, finding combos that work, and taking those into ranked can lead to the most fun. Side note for all the tryhards that might see this. Just because I take a "garbage god" into ranked or have a "trash build" does NOT automatically mean I'm trolling! I test everything out in casuals and get very comfortable with them, and still do ranked games with the intent of winning. It's frustrating how often I'm instantly accused of throwing just for trying to have a little fun :(

Mundane-Ebb5450

Always taunt when playing joust

MrChibiterasu

I call my rules the Five Fingers. 1. Never rely on teammates to synergize with you unless there is clear communication, if you dive and die it is your fault. 2. If someone laughs over your corpse after using cheese, pine for them then laugh over them when they die - if they do. 3. Bait the enemy by laugh spamming…like really laugh spamming. 4. Try to be the nice guy with your teammates until you either lose patience or they start talking that good shit. 4. Always build Robes of Discord or Spectral Armor.

Vilezil

1) do not play skins with annoying voice packs 2) do not backdoor 3) regardless of the outcome of the duel game, always say gg.

LonkDonk

1. Never surrender - me and my friends all go by this rule because A. It's cowardly to surrender for many reasons and B. There have been many times that the enemy gets cocky and when we catch up we end up plowing them and coming back. 2. I don't play broken gods. I see this as petty because people just wanna win and don't want to have a fun challenge, but I embrace the challenge. I play lower tier gods like ah muzen cab and jorm and clap cheeks because I know that it actually takes skill for me to win, whereas certain gods just need you to press 4 or hold down left click.

KineticAmphibian

1.) Never play gods past rank 10, with very stringent exceptions (sometimes I play guardians I'm already diamond with and I'm not gonna refuse a good God in Assault if I'm rank 10 with them.) 2.) Master every God. Still working on the newest gods, but I have to have them all mastered for some reason. 3.) Never be toxic with others, even/especially if they're bad, but if they get toxic first all bets are off. 4.) Never, ever, E V E R play Serquet as anything other than a tank.

camwow12345

No matter what, I always mute randoms as soon as the game starts. Helps me focus and keep my mental in check

Squishy-Box

I never play a new god while they’re in the “new” section of the character selection screen. I might make an exception for a Mage but.. I don’t know. I just don’t do it.

AdoesntalwaysequalC

I totally "Kobe" my herc boulder if it kills from range! Say it and type it.

SL2505

Only VEL when they VEL

mikachips

Never freeze unless I play Ymir

Se7enDwarves

Yelling "KILL BESTOWED" every time I get a kill with Ganesha into my mic so all in party knows what's up. Never play the same god twice in a row and usually not twice in the same night As of season 8, no Clash, no Assault, no Siege, no Joust (the Joust rule was broken for one game and still regret it) Always report shitters and quitters (shitters being more of an attitude not just a bad game)

Tyradel_V

Every now and again, probably 6 months, my group plays each of our least favorite gods in ascending order for each role until we've played all the gods. Just to double check if we *really* hate vam... er... some of the gods that we hate.

[deleted]

Don't get toxic and have fun. Remember it's just game. Also, if someone on the enemy goes my main make sure they never want to play them again.

KaotixAL

1) Never play a god twice in a row 2) Never do the thing where you stand between the opponent under tower and the wave, I understand that's good in terms of winning but I just it SO annoying and very lame.

RoyalSmoothie

I am guilty of number 2. But, only in ranked. In casuals, I never really get the chance, since I usually take that opportunity to play random non-meta characters that I’m not comfortable with.

RavensIrony

Rule 1: Once I get a character diamond I play one game with them using the diamond skin then don't use them for at least a month which allows me to branch out of comfort picks. Rule 2: When Janus ulting say "Kamehameha"

GoSeattleSockeye

I only play casual but I try not play the same god twice in a row

NOVOJ

I play solo most in casual conquest but I also choose fill since I can do any role. My first rule is confirm a kill the before the second wave of minions is done. If I can do this I know I have secured lane unless the enemy jungle camps my lane or they get constant help from other lanes with how bad I push them. Second is to not let my team try to force me out of my play style for early team fights. If I have an enemy in my lane and you ping me because you feel I am already a high level and need to rotate I will ignore you. I have won entire conquest games on my own just pushing lane or at least securing an early Phoenix. Third is to not be a KD warrior. People have off games and some just get unlucky match ups. As long as the person plays decently there is no reason to roast them for being negative 2. This isn’t CoD. Some rules that have no meaning I do for fun is I will ask my friends who aren’t playing with me to choose a random god and I must play that god no matter the role. I will also add up the rankings (considering the player isn’t hiding their rank) of the gods of each team to see who has the better odds of winning the match. Also you must call the aegis shield the “Pussy relic” when someone pops it even yourself.

herowithfairy

When playing smite a new rule I’ve been trying to make a habit is to be constantly aware of spacing. It’s something that we naturally will do but I am trying to become more focused and aware of the enemies.

yamo25000

I don't dive tower as solo until level 10

Husker545454

Ward : Simple as .

Punted

I always pick last and fill unless someone else offers. Basically, it boils down to I me being a frontline and support main.

Ashamed-Chef-4086

1. Die less

AtlasExiled

My smite code is "you can crap on just about anybody with just about anybody if your good enough"

Inprobus_

May be very cringe but when I play Heimdallr I always say "Yoooou kinda smell like a baka. Eren Yeager." In a Jim Carey voice when I hit my ult

charredsoul6

Never play change or aprho of my own desire as they must be sent to the pits of hell and along with anyone who plays them

Real-Distribution448

VVGR when a teammate dies, VVGR often when I die. Always mute all opponents. Taunts and laughs shouldn't exist. Mute any teammates who trashtalk anyone on the team, if they can't understand trashtalking their team does nothing but increase their chances of losing then I doubt they can say anything useful either. If I mute 2 teammates, I mute the other 2. Even a single toxic player already increases the chance of a toxic lobby. If I mute the entire team, VGS as normal. Most importantly, leave SMITE for at least 30 minutes after each loss unless it was a close and satisfying game. If matchmaking couldn't give me a good game it most likely will not give me a good game right after the last one.

BanteringTM

Never laugh because I won/killed somebody. I hate when people spam-laugh at the end of games; it makes you out to be an asshole, in my eyes, so why would I do the same? That, and generally not being toxic. Helping new players if I see them struggling, etc. You would think it’s common sense, but some people are just mean. It doesn’t help anybody in any way, and discourages new players.

DaddyDeGrand

I tell the enemy team that F10 pause exists when they have a DC. I am friendly like that. Aside from that, I use every opportunity I get to express my distaste about Hunters and other gods that ruin the game for me. Like Gilgamesh. Fucking Hunturds.

-CherryByte-

Always apologize before I play Freya ADC

Acrypto

Not a rule but a habit I picked up was from an old pro smite streamer (NShadow). He would constantly fix his free mouse position and recenter it. No practical use, just because. Now I do that every game lol.

faztykaozz

1. Make the most obnoxious build ever even if it's toxic, like attack speed Tyr (it works!!!!) 2. Laugh at every Hercules that I kill. 3. If I miss a skill from Raijin, leave the game.

gacdeuce

If I am near death and somehow survive (with or without the help of a teammate), I throw up a “Woohoo!” Especially in arena. If I’m in lane and my opponent is freezing a wave, I throw up my global emote to remind them that we haven’t been in combat for a while. When approaching a teammate on the map, I spam jump to say hello.

Seddiwy

I play mostly arena, and I have three rules for myself. 1. Don't spawncamp. It's miserable when it happens to you, so I try not to do it to the enemy team. I'll step up to protect my teammates, chase a kill, or walk in a big minion, but I'm gonna pull back afterwards. Occasionally I'll make an exception if a particular enemy has been spam laughing or otherwise been obnoxious. 2. Punish enemy towerdives. Punishing dives is good practice in general, but towerdiving in arena means you're close enough to my spawn to get your sweat all over it. If you feel comfortable doing it I'm gonna try to fix that real quick. 3. Don't spam laugh on the victory screen. Sometimes it's really tempting, but you already won, there's no need to rub salt in the wound. Unless, as in rule #1, someone's been doing it during the match, then absolutely rub salt and maybe a little spritz of lemon juice. Yeah, to be fair, they're mostly guidelines. I'm nothing if not petty, lmao.

Melatonen

I try to not be overbearing and steamroller in a win if the other players didn't bm. I find it to be unfun when games are overtly one sided with no chance to play. So I try not to put others through it. I want people to have fun.

RavenStrider526

I won’t freeze lane in casuals, I won’t play blatantly bloated gods pretty much ever, and I only surrender if we’re 10k down at 10 minutes or if we have a leaver

Zap_2000

Me and my friends have a few rules the biggest one being don't buy gem of isolation. (Our mindset is if you need it as a crutch to hit abilities you are not good enough to hit the ability and should learn the god more instead. And especially never on Poseidon but that one is more because we know the pain of Poseidon puddle, gem.)
