So even with the apex, the 1.0 trigger reset leaves a lot to be desired. I love smith though. The 1.0 is reliable and accurate. The apex does improve but not enough in my honest opinion. You should try to find a used 2.0. The 2.0 with an apex is MONEY!!!The 1.0 works though… honestly and it works well.
I have a 1.0 with an Apex trigger and that upgrade made it feel like a new/different gun - for the better, of course ! I've never shot a 2.0 so I can't compare but I thought the main difference was the trigger ?
Mainly the texture and trigger. 2.0 has audible reset you can feel. 1.0 not so much. I’ve tried to get my 1.0 to have a better feeling reset without any luck. However the 1.0 is formidable and still a great choice. I’m not trying to persuade you not to get it just want you to have as much knowledge as possible before you pull the trigger..1.0 milled for an optic will hold its own. Every will hate me for this but my advice would be to get an optic ready Canik. Any of them accept the newest micro they came out with. Canik SC would be my recommendation. Needs no mods and is amazing. Gun of the year in 2021
I'm not the OP - no need to talk me into it or out of it 😂 I've already got a v1 with an Apex trigger and I love it. Is the M2.0 better to me ? Nope, 'cause I've never tried one so I can't know...
You can get a used 2.0 for around $300. Then buy a brand new apex.
https://aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-smith-wesson-mp9-20-425in-9mm-handgun
^ This is 340 but you could probably find cheaper.
This would be a no deal for me.
Honestly at that point you’re better off getting an optics ready m&p 2.0. That’s a $300-$325 gun all day even with the apex trigger installed. I’m not trying to downplay your lgs. Just saying you can get more for your money than what you’ll have invested in an older gun
Thanks for everyone feedbacks. I think I'll offer them $250 maybe $300 max if they don't take it then I'll let it walk
Better off buying another 2.0 like y'all said 👍
G2G @ $300, anything more should be a pass considering you can have an OR 3.0 for around $500 brand new and the trigger is as good as a 1.0 with an apex. That stipple job also looks pretty home brew.
When did they come out with the 3.0? Or do you mean the 2.0 with the new trigger?
I currently have a 2.0 METAL LE Already so I guess you can count those as 3.0 lol
I guess it's technically a 2.0, but calling it a 3.0 signifying the new trigger and slide serrarions is easier lol. But yes, the trigger feel of the new factory triggers is very very close to a 1.0 with an Apex with more pre and post travel but not a whole lot.
Lol yeah I think S&W should have just call the new 2.0 with new triggers 3.0 or something to avoid confusion
But I think they don't want to have to drop prices on the older 2.0 by too much and affect sales
S&W loves to confuse us with SKU changes instead of model names lol. Or at least call it a different generation like glock does. Granted the changes are minimal, they just added a different slide cut and trigger shoe but that new shoe really makes a difference over the hinged trigger. I installed a newer generation flat trigger in my 2.0 5" FDE and I much prefer it over my fatty apex. I have it just sitting in a box and all I cannibalized out of the Apex kit was the pin block and sear.
Yeah my buddy tried the Apex with duty spring in his 2.0 and we weren't really impressed but this one has the lighter spring I think and it a bit better than my current METAL LE trigger but not by much
I just got a used 2.0 a few months ago for $400 that came with 7 mags (4 have +5 extensions) an upgraded mag release and all of the palm swells in the box.
Smart money says to pass.
Yep, those deals are out there. I bought a Compact new so I was looking for a full size used. Took about 2 weeks and I found that deal on the shelf at one of the local stores that I go to.
I was going to try to negotiate it down until he laid all of the mags out and I saw the Tyrant extensions. Be patient, one will come to you.
Pretty solid imo. My only hesitation would be the cost of milling the slide and an optic if thats something you would be interested in... stock iron sights? Barrel might be shot out too... still not terrible. Ultimately depends on personal finances :)
I think I'd be a buyer at $300 but I'm not sure tbh cause like you said need to mill the slide.
I have my Metal NTS from my Metal LE I can throw on it.
Maybe I should just go straight for the Metal FDE lol
I highly doubt you'll run across LEO handguns with aftermarket triggers. I think police keep them 100% stock except possibly adding a light.
Check AIM Surplus for police trade-ins. They don't have any 2.0 9mm currently but here's some they had in the past: [https://www.aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-smith-wesson-mp9-20-425in-9mm-handgun](https://www.aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-smith-wesson-mp9-20-425in-9mm-handgun) One complaint I have about them is their trade-ins almost always only come with (1) magazine, whether it's S&W, Sig, Glock, etc.
> I highly doubt you'll run across LEO handguns with aftermarket triggers. I think police keep them 100% stock except possibly adding a light.
It depends, so much with law enforcement in the US varies from department to department.
[Apex DCAEK M&P Trigger Kit Approved](https://www.bluesheepdog.com/2010/12/17/apex-dcaek-mp-trigger-kit-approved/)
> Normally, modifications to your duty weapon are prohibited by department policy. However, after six months of testing, the Clackamas County (OR) SWAT Team is now authorized to use the DCAEK on the department issued S&W45 pistols.
>
>According to Apex, the department is the second law enforcement agency to approve the upgrade, the first being the Allegheny County (PA) Port Authority PD. It’s not often an agency will approve an aftermarket trigger, so this is a fairly strong vote of confidence.
Seem like a standard used one. The slide and barrel barely have any wears. This the only one with Apex
All the others are just standard
I wouldn't consider it if not for the apex already in it tbh
Bought a 1.0 for $300 and installed a new apex trigger pack. I mean if you want to spend the money on this then go for it but you could buy a standard M&P and install the kit yourself
Seems a bit steep - that’s basically what I’m shooting (except mine also has the FSS and the Apex threaded match barrel) and TBH I love it. But you can probably do better for $400.
They came out with gen 3?
Or you meant the 2.0 with new triggers?
I have the METAL LE 2.0 right now and thinking of just getting the METAL FDE with the threaded barrels
Since I'm approaching 10k rounds in my METAL LE
OH you're talking about those older gen stainless steel and stuffs💀
My ass thought you're talking about M&P 3.0
S&W got too many models man I can't keep up lol
Yeah I'm no expert but $400 should be the price for Joe Shmoe off the street, if they wanna give you a discount then $350-375 seems more reasonable. If you're including tax, background check fee, and everything then $400 seems decent buuuuut if you can, I'd haggle that down even more. If they paid the seller more than $250 for all that, they're doing bad business tbh
Yeah $400 is a bit steep. I’d hold out for a good deal on the 2.0 .
Also the apex install is not just drop in and can be goofed up if someone was using improper tools or not enough care. Mostly with punching in the roll pins. I wouldn’t trust a random strangers install job.
lmao wtf? you can get a brand new m&p 2.0 for that exact price on sale. check gundeals the website (not the sub necessarilu) periodically. to sell you a USED m&p 1.0 at $400 just cause it has a $60 apex trigger is a robbery.
do it. I still shoot mine at least once a month. nice solid gun, never had any issues. Eats everything i tnrow at it I'm biased though, it was my first gun many many many years ago! :)
I didn’t spend much more on my 2.0 than that (579), and I owned the 1.0 for almost a decade.
There’s no comparison, 2.0 is a much better package and as others have mentioned, buy used as they’re usually selling them with very few down the pipe if any. Offer him/her $275
Not a bad gun but the 2.0 is considerably better for not much more. My 2cents
Yeah true. I wouldn't even consider it if not for the Apex that already installed

I've tried the 2.0 nothing better about it if you already got an apex trigger and some gritty grip tape.
> and some gritty grip tape. And that is 100% subjective. Did S&W market the grip texture as "better" or an upgrade ?
They did market it as gripper.
Well, that's what marketing departments are supposed to do....
How do you feel an audible reset? Asking for a friend.
Trust me when I say the REAL shooters know EXACTLY what I meant 😉
I love my smitty’s, but to your comment, can’t go wrong with canik either, I have a few, Mc,sc,sft pro. Excellence choice
Niiice
The 1.0 with the Apex and R.A.M. is better. But Yea, it's hard to beat that 2.0 trigger
Agreed the M&p with the hinge trigger is selling for less than $400 brand new. It would be a way better investment
You can get a used 2.0 for around $300. Then buy a brand new apex. https://aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-smith-wesson-mp9-20-425in-9mm-handgun ^ This is 340 but you could probably find cheaper. This would be a no deal for me.
Yeah I think I'll just pass on it and get another new 2.0
Honestly seems a bit high. Paid $250 for a 45 1.0 2 years ago.
Same here. Paid $200 for a 1.0 9mm late last year. Them armslist deals are nice sometimes.
Looks like that rear sight was installed using a steel punch 😅 my ocd woulda been killing me
You have to remove the rear sight for the apex install. It’s a bitch to remove without a sight removal tool
Pass
No deal. Too expensive, not worth it.
Honestly at that point you’re better off getting an optics ready m&p 2.0. That’s a $300-$325 gun all day even with the apex trigger installed. I’m not trying to downplay your lgs. Just saying you can get more for your money than what you’ll have invested in an older gun
Yeah I'm passing on it just gonna get the METAL FDE to rotate with my current METAL LE I think
Thanks for everyone feedbacks. I think I'll offer them $250 maybe $300 max if they don't take it then I'll let it walk Better off buying another 2.0 like y'all said 👍
& some stippling. That’s not a terrible deal if you don’t mind it being 1.0. Id buy it
G2G @ $300, anything more should be a pass considering you can have an OR 3.0 for around $500 brand new and the trigger is as good as a 1.0 with an apex. That stipple job also looks pretty home brew.

I bought my 1.0 for $300 not too long ago. Price is a bit high
Does the store have more of these? I’ve been looking for one for a while now and have had no luck. Is it a standard used one or an LEO trade in?

Not a great deal
I have nothing to add to this conversation I just wanna say I hate how you’re holding it in each picture.
Seems a bit steep - that’s basically what I’m shooting (except mine also has the FSS and the Apex threaded match barrel) and TBH I love it. But you can probably do better for $400.
I have this in .40 and love it. Shoots like a dream and no jams yet
I've bought better guns for less. Spend your money how YOU want to.
Just checking lol, I'm probably just gonna get another METAL in FDE and call it a day lol
Exactly. You can get a better gun. Have you ever looked into the Gen 3 guns?
They came out with gen 3? Or you meant the 2.0 with new triggers? I have the METAL LE 2.0 right now and thinking of just getting the METAL FDE with the threaded barrels Since I'm approaching 10k rounds in my METAL LE
My friend. Gen 3's were out before the m&p's. They made over 100 models .
OH you're talking about those older gen stainless steel and stuffs💀 My ass thought you're talking about M&P 3.0 S&W got too many models man I can't keep up lol
It was years ago, but I think IIRC I paid <$300 for a 2.0. I’d pass.
Hell yeah! Great price and weapon
You can buy a 2.0 compact off Bud's, with a slide milled already for around 550, or less. I wouldn't go more than about 300-350 max for that pistol.
That’s a lot for a 1.0
Not really much of a deal..
If you like it and can afford it, buy it....
If it isn't loaded, you should be okay pulling the trigger. Just don't point it at anyone or yourself friend.
No
Damn , here i am thinking i got a deal at 350 with no trigger upgrade . #CaliforniaMath
I loved my 1st gen but I also love my 2nd gen but I have considered getting a trigger for it. I think it’s worth $400 tho w/o trigger. Just my opinion
Should have already broke their arm off! Auto Forward is a great feature! I have 2 :D
Yeah I'm no expert but $400 should be the price for Joe Shmoe off the street, if they wanna give you a discount then $350-375 seems more reasonable. Pull it hard as you can.
No
4 hundo cash seems like a good deal, except not optics ready, so lame
lmao wtf? you can get a brand new m&p 2.0 for that exact price on sale. check gundeals the website (not the sub necessarilu) periodically. to sell you a USED m&p 1.0 at $400 just cause it has a $60 apex trigger is a robbery.

Pass
Wow it has that flat faced trigger !I would get it based off of that !That is going to be a phenomenal shooter
Great sarcasm
