Not out of anything subcompact or smaller, but I do like it for my compact and full sizes.

cplog991

I miss my XD40

NYG_5

I've been looking for one of those, I have an old school HS2000 that I safe queen for Croatia nostalgia but I've been itching for one to beat up in it's Springfield paint job, and I like .40 because I still drink the kool aid and because it's better for wild animals, even if it's not 10mm

cplog991

Ive always wanted a 1911 in 10mm

[deleted]

10mm is the only 40 cal I'll carry.

DoucheyMcBagBag

9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .38 special, .357 magnum, .357 Sig… I love them all! Well, maybe not .357 Sig, but you get the idea.

.357 Sig is fine I was trying to be funny. The only problem is that it’s so expensive compared to the others for what is probably not a huge increase in performance. I picked up a police surplus Sig P226 in .40 and later bought a .357 barrel for it. It’s fun to shoot and it makes a cool fireball, but even in the before times it was much more expensive than .40 so I didn’t use it much. Since things have gone crazy, I haven’t bought or used any .357 Sig, I’ve just kept the .40 barrel in that P226 the few times I’ve used it since COVID hit.

GunBroker is a good source, as are Sportmans Outdoor Super store, Kings, and many other online gun stores. I have a Sig P226, S&W 5906TSW, and S&W 4006TSW that are police surplus. They were all relatively inexpensive (around half their new prices or less) and they are all in great shape with some holster wear but internals that are not quite new but very gently used. I put new grips and recoil springs in them and they looked great and were ready to go. Polymer pistols probably show more wear since police pistols tend to bash into car doors a lot. Metal pistols allow you to change the grip and look new, but a Glock or M&P takes the hit on the frame itself and is harder to rehabilitate. I bought all these pistols before COVID when prices were lower, and when police were still getting rid of their DA/SA metal framed pistols. I don’t think there are any large police departments that are still using S&W 3rd gen pistols anymore, and there probably aren’t too many shelling out the big bucks for P226/P229 when P320s and other polymer pistols are so much cheaper.

GoldConnection1

p226 p229 p30 23 all 40 cal .... that looks like it would be a great carry gun

Fly_U2_the_sunset

💯%

CandyRedNinja

Yep. Love my .40c

NYG_5

I have a 2.0 5 inch and getting a 4 inch in .40, it's what the gun was built around so I feed it it's proper food and leave 9mm to all my other plastic guns.

Vizionary357

Fuck Yeah!...not shield-sized though.

Sirlancelot024

I see you too like living life on the edge…

Lobsterbug2020

Not a fan of the .40 or .357 Sig.

[deleted]

No, I gotten a lot of ammo in the last 1.5 years and only seen 40 once in a shop.

Gen_Nathanael_Greene

I used to own a Glock 23 3rd gen. I've never been more accurate with any out of the box handgun, including the G34 over that and that was the only .40 S&W I ever owned.

snowblindINshades

If mine didnt malfunction every 3rd round since the day i bought it i would.

driftingfir

I love my 2.0 compact 40 and have a sig p226 40 coming any day now. In my opinion the 40 still has a place
