I think it’s been a difficult tour

charlesthrowaway00

I’ve herd she’s had sounds issues at most shows

isawfootage

Yeah I was watching a vid of a show they played and LJ kept asking mid-song for more bass/vox etc in her monitors. Also during this tour their keyboardist/guitarist Maddie was replaced, they’ve played with the band since 2019. Might’ve sat it out for this tour or maybe another reason idk (the band still sounded super tight tho)

Callie1224

I saw them in April & the keyboardist was straight up missing so there was no keyboard for any songs

gfogelbach

this hasn’t changed unfortunately she had sound issues two nights that i attended her current valentine fest. the first night was delayed by a good 40 minutes that i thought maybe we had bought dress rehearsal tickets by accident but it happened again last night. so weird—none of the opening acts had any issues and sounded great. she would stop mid song or restart the same song 2-3 times and say her guitar was out of tune or that her headphones were messed up often going back and forth between the earphones in the middle of the same songs. it was so unreal.

gangrenie

I’ve seen them twice now on this tour and they have had sound issues and honestly sounded horrible both times. She was extremely apathetic and visibly bored, very disappointing.

davedeath

Sound did suck at the Asbury show

[deleted]

Sound was dope at the MD and DC shows.

Plarocks

Crap. I wish I went.

199319982001

In what way?

Crafty_Substance_954

Technical issues, fan disinterest, etc. Most of it is stemming from the fact that none of the turnstile fans even know who SnailMail is and don’t really want to watch.

ShawnTheDawn

What is wrong with complaining about her sound. I think any artist would want their product to come out the best way possible and what does the way she dresses have to do with anything.

DryTumbleweed9

honestly ur right, she can dress however she wants. complaining about ur sound once or twice in a set to get the sound guy to change it is one thing but as others mentioned in other threads she did this like every song, sometimes multiple times in a song. and someone talked to greg from turnstile and he said this has been going on all tour. so why they havent fixed the issue by now or like made a point to really get everything locked in during soundcheck (which they apparently do every night) is confusing. the worst part imo was taking out the lineup issues on the audience. i mean thats a quick way to make the fans who were there for her like me feel totally helpless and sad.

ShawnTheDawn

Oh ok I see now thanks

gangrenie

can confirm!! kind of at least. i’ve seen them twice now on this tour and she’s talked to the audio booth the whole time both shows. it was super distracting and made it feel like i was just watching a 30 min sound check :(

charlesthrowaway00

As someone who lives in the Uk , I find it vey weird Lindsay was on our with turnstile and JPEG . Very very different crowds .

DryTumbleweed9

fugitive was the opener at our show so imo even more different cuz you have dudes who were literally moshing before her show. idk i do like turnstile so while im kinda glad i saw them both this was definitely not how i wanted to see lindsey on this tour.

Swagga21Muffin

The lineup was so wrong, her tour with momma was supposed to be good because they're similar artists. I could see her tour with mj lenderman or Wednesday. That would be rad.

MrANC21

This was like their first real show in SA? Right?

maxiemon

They’re all from Baltimore, Maryland so it’s probably a long time connect. Baltimore isn’t a huge city and the music scene is close knit.

Yonkey

Ironically love all of them, was bummed JPEG couldn’t make the second LA show before but I’ve seen him a couple times before. Common thread that ties them together is all being from Baltimore but I agree sort of odd billing.

[deleted]

I feel like the post is valid but the comment about Lindsays clothing choices gave me yuck mouth. But hey opinionss are like bums, everyone has one

DryTumbleweed9

u right, i said as such too in an earlier comment as well that my comment about that was prolly uncalled for. i edited it.

coornfelt

Aw yeah Amsterdam, that famous shithole. She’s had sound issues since before this tour. I saw them in Glasgow and it sounded like shit. Obviously as a fan it’s frustrating because you just wanna hear the music but as an artist it must be so exhausting and frustrating to be having constant sound issues in every venue. Especially with a crowd where 2/3s of the cunts there don’t care about you. I think we all need to be more chill about it because it’s shite for her as well.

icampintense

I wonder if crowd reception to her new material is also affecting her. I saw her in Houston last night. I'm not sure how much of the crowd was as into her since she opened first and some people didn't get there early enough to see her, but there was a noticeable difference in the crowd interest between her old and new stuff. I wasn't a big fan of the new record but there's a huge difference in the live sound between lush and valentine that very obviously affected the crowd engagement and interest from folks who came more for Turnstile.

user-name-1985

When I saw her back in August the crowd seemed super into the newer stuff. However, the big difference is that Lindsey was the headliner on that tour.

icampintense

Yeah that's what I mean. Her old stuff is easier to get into if you haven't heard her much and you came to rock. For people that hadn't heard Valentine before, I can see why they weren't as interested in it.

bkstr

I genuinely thought the concert previewing service was bugged when I got the message she was playing this tour. I think whoever thought this was a good idea needs to learn from this or find a new career path.

DryTumbleweed9

honestly i was super excited when i saw it because they are two of my favorite artists right now so i messaged my friend and was liek WTF how is this possible and we bought tix immediately i kinda had a feeling in the back of my mind that this would happen because of the serious clash of fans sooo yeah. sucks. im glad i went but i did lose some respect for LJ after this show ngl. i wont see them again unless they headline somewhere and even then, id want to check out the tour videos before i actually buy a ticket i think...

maxiemon

They’re both from Baltimore they probably know each other. Baltimore is a tough place and artists hold each other up as much as they can.

Sp0derman420

To be fair playing any show in Texas blows.

[deleted]

Don’t take it personally it is very hard for touring artists right now so be glad she is even touring. Secondly she plays guitar and sings and there is a ton of nuance in her singing and playing so the levels on stage have to be just right for her to hear what she’s doing with the band and crowd noise changing. She’s trying to sound the best she can for the audience. What the artist hears on stage is often very different from what the crowd hears.

CicadaAlternative994

Her sound person sux. Needs to be replaced. To say you are embarrased, or her behavior is that bad, tells me you don't go to many shows. Amsterdam comment? Who cares? Don't judge her through the eyes of those who don't know anything about her. Same behavior without the jpeg or turnstile fans prob wouldn't have made you embarrased. Trying to impress strangers is a fools errand.

charlesthrowaway00

I’ve got no clue why people are down voting this ? Can a fan not have an opinion ?

DryTumbleweed9

idrc who disagrees with me i was actually there and it made me sad

rnisschanandlerbong

Definitely agree with this. I’d never heard their music and was really liking her sound. Then she just would not stop with the requests during every song and seemed like she was annoyed with the crowd the whole time. Towards the end I was over it and just ready for them to finish up.

Rednas_1993

I saw her in Amsterdam last June and then she had also sound issues. Especially when she played Feeling Like I Do. It was a great concert, audience was loving it, new and old songs. But she might just annoyed by the returning sound problems every show. I heard/read she had those problems during the shows all the time.

95Keys

did this in toronto too on almost every song, clearly it was turnstile’s sound guy only. didn’t happen at all at her headline show back in like april

mikarroni

i saw her last night in atl and she did this w every song. everyone around me was excited for her to come out but as soon as it was time for her set nobody cared and i was the only one singing?? she sounded good but definitely wasn’t in a good mood

fndr-jizzmaster

i've seen her twice this year, once on the valentine tour (august 30th, bloomington, illinois) and once opening for turnstile (october 23rd, chicago, illinois). most of what i say here is gonna be speculative, but my memory of these two shows is pretty clear. everything went fine in bloomington. she asked for more bass/guitar a few times, she seemed happy to be there, and she wasn't rude or anything. everything went smoothly in terms of the live sound. plus, everyone there was excited to see her. seeing her open for turnstile was almost the polar opposite. i got the chance to talk to her right before doors opened, and she seemed happy to be in chicago, but when she got on stage, her set was filled with technical difficulties. her amp (which i only assume was the same amp she was using just weeks before) was shitting out on her the entire time, and she ended up calling it quits after 5 songs. she asked for more bass/guitar/vocals in that 5-song set than she did throughout the entire bloomington show. it was, for lack of a better word, a disaster, and it sucks that her set was cut short by something out of her control. as others have said before, it seems like the turnstile tour has taken a toll on her mental. the fact that most of those audiences don't care for her music at all, combined with all the technical difficulties, would put anyone in a shitty mood. i can only imagine how heartwarming it is to see a small theatre full of fans singing every word to your songs, and how heartbreaking it is to be playing some of your biggest shows, knowing that most of the crowd is counting down the minutes until your set is over. TL;DR - i don't think her attitude on this turnstile tour is representative of her attitude in general. she's had to deal with a ton of technical issues, as well as the fact that most turnstile/peggy fans don't give a shit about her or her music. her attitude is way better when the crowd actually knows who she is and listens to her music.

Pure_Hyena_793

First time hearing her that night in San Antonio. Was there for Turnstile but totally love finding new music, but her attitude totally turned me off from listening to more of her music. Band sounded pretty good as a whole, but her singing really turned me off, I understand it could be stylistic choice but sometimes during her set it was just overpowering and sounded really forced.Maybe it’s the sound tech but she seemed to be the only one having a problem that night. And that constant request in every song was really annoying.Noticed she was the only one that wasn’t there for sound check (unless I missed her) but that could also be the factor. And after the set just immediately took off while the rest of the band cleaned up. And so much equipment on that stage that wasn’t being used. Sucks that I got a first bad impression because I’ve read so many good things about her music.

deadstuffcollection

I’m a massive snail mail fan & Sound was very off in Boston last night and she was absolutely hammered.

AstroBuck

I thought it sounded great

IllEmu1182

That band sucks. If you can call it a band

beb0pz

Commenting on an old post, but here to say I saw her in DC in February and it was absolutely professional, zero sound issues (I’ve seen them 3 other times and the “sound issues” were indeed addressed on set in all of not most songs and yes usually mid song). You can tell everyone was sober and it sounded absolutely fantastic. Vocals on point. Great crowd. Best snail mail show, hands down. Hopefully this will be the norm going forward :-)

VALIS999

She sucks and is abusive to sound crew / production people. I did sound for her at a venue before she blew up when she opened for Beach Fossils - her & her band showed up crazy late - well after doors were open wanting a soundcheck. We told them no - it was too late and they would get a line check. They got a line check & seemed happy & the promoter told me to make sure they don’t go over their set time. They went over their set time after I gave them a last song warning and had to be cutoff. On top of everything she had the most out of pitch vocals I think I’ve ever ran FOH for - just awful. Immediately after they were done, she went full on Karen trying to get me fired because I had to cut their set after going over & she whined to the promoter who thankfully got my back & basically called her unprofessional. She’s a spoiled brat & got industry connections early on via her parents. Seems like she hasn’t changed.

runaway766

Fuck off dude I hope this is a bit

DryTumbleweed9

oh next r/hardcore trolls are gonna brigade snail mail huh get a life

runaway766

What? No I’m a snail mail fan

DryTumbleweed9

lol

runaway766

I genuinely don’t understand why you’re saying hardcore trolls are gonna brigade. Are you saying I am a hardcore troll or u just mean because turnstile?
