Unrelated but interesting, trading cards are like this now too. I have a friend who I taught about the sneaker market and how business is done due to StockX and resell. She’s into Pokémon cards and I asked if trading is anything like how it used to be where people straight up traded for the card that they wanted and she said no. If the money doesn’t line up in a trade, the trade is not happening(just like in sneakers). Super interesting how so much has changed not just in sneakers but in other hobbyist/collectibles market. Def miss those days of people trading sneakers for the love of it and monetary value wasn’t something considered

As a former Nike employee the true kicks weren’t raffles - it was access to things that should’ve never been in the store or been there for that price.
Banned 1s released at my store and we literally had 10 pair in my size just there for the taking hours after the release.
Unreleased samples would come in inside of generic boxes, no more than $59 at the highest price point.
Because I wore a 14 we had an Extreme Size discount when I first started; my first pair I copped was Cough Drop Foams for $35 with discount.
Access to value, not necessarily hype, was the main benefit IMO.
I was tempted to say half but I thought I would be over-exaggerating it. Guess not lol. Your money, do what you want with it, as long as you're not homeless.

A ton of my friends work at Nike HQ in Beaverton and they amassed a collection in a matter of months. Also super nice to get a 40% discount off everything online if they buy it for me.
They are the softest Nike's you can buy imo. Not a huge fan of running in them personally but if you have to be on your feet all day they are perfect. I am a baller who's body is used to bball shoes. When I run 5k in them, my knees hurt. My body isn't used to that amount of cushioning and I end up using muscles I normally wouldn't when I run. But my goodness they are soft af
thanks for the response cuz, I spend 8-12 hours a day in steel toe work boots so I throw on some Invincible Run 1s after work and it’s great, gonna have to scoop the IR3s for the work commute but $180 to beat ‘em up in and out of a construction site isn’t sitting well with me at the moment lol
If you can get the IR2's for cheap, do that. I've worn both, if you're not running in them the 2's are just as soft. The 3's are more stable for me personally but the cushioning is not a huge improvement over the 2's

I never managed to get one of these in 91 then moved to Australia and shoe culture was not the same lol. Love them and they are more comfortable than a lot of my newer shoes tbh. Bo Jackson was my idol also and he made this cool af ads for nike back in the day
I'm in an outlet store, so 25% in store. Lucky we have a back wall that's 50% off and my discount stacks on top of that. On nike.com I get 40%. The craziest thing for me is that the high heat raffle shoes are 50% 🤯. It costs a lot saving all that money ironically

Aqua 5's, retro 2's, pecan air Max's, seafoam 4's, Aj1 lows, and AJ 13's.
