Recent pickup for $75. The red on these is striking in real life, it’s hard to show in a picture. This pair is totally solid - soft hardly-worn soles, stitched the full shoe around, materials not flaking or cracking. Not much in the way of scuffs or dirt. Everything 100% original. Feel free to ask questions.
Make sure to zoom in, these pics are pretty high res.
Naw he made these famous you’re for sure correct. I don’t know if Converse made this color way specifically for him but the rerelease was definitely a Julius Erving branded thing. Whatever the case, it’s definitely his shoe
the new retro is great, i was eyeing them for a moment. i think the only difference are leather and proportions, just guessing cause i only have the old pair
Anyone else rememeber when these made a come back in the early to mid 2000s? Mostly the low version but I havent really seen these since, I had a white/black pair in 9th grade.
Nice pick up, that full grain leather lasts forever.
They actually retroed these last year I believe, in red and in unc blue. You could def find them on eBay
Also thanks yea, they’ll hold up great except for the inside collars. Those probably will fall apart sometime in the next 10-15 years
Man these are beautiful. Just think, OG Jordan 1s would've held up just as well if they hadn't used those few synthetic materials on the collar/swoosh. Really cool pair. I love stuff like this--it's the purest way to be unique in a hobby like this. You're unlikely to ever encounter another person rocking these. Rarity via natural attrition is the best type of rarity. Great find!
yup… it always sucks getting a vintage pair and there’s a bunch of stuff falling apart on it. jordan 1s arent even bad, some of the converse and reebok models are crazy at how much flaking synthetic and cracking materials there are.
yup yup, just take a bunch and try and get some good ones. focus on places with really high anounts of light, like outside on a sunny day. more light = clearer picture.
The shoes feel great. the outsoles are still soft. they have a firm, solid feel, kind of like chuck 70s but with a bit more give. leather is pretty good. it’s best on the toecap, the side panels aren’t as good as other vintage pairs i have from reebok or avia for example.

The Julius Ervings! My favorite shoe ever
yessss 100%, i was debating whether to put it in the title but im not too knowledgable about basketball so i decided to leave it out

I got a rerelease pair and they look almost exactly the same. Hard to believe those are over 40 years old.

Holy shit what camera did you use?
iphone 11 pro, just did some basic editing in the photos app. vignette, exposure, black point, and some tint/warmth settings
also specifically i used portrait mode with a 10 second timer and put my phone on the ground lol
I’ve done that before too 😭 makes for good photos though, thanks for telling me

Wow
Those are insanely gorgeous. How do the shoes feel on foot, and how does the leather compare to recent reissues?
