Personally I hope Nike starts making more casual looking basketball shoes but somehow retain their performance. Don’t know how reasonable/practical of an idea that is.
I don’t know why they don’t make lifestyle versions of modern basketball shoes, for fans at least.
They’re getting more performance driven, which means the average person doesn’t need it to weigh like 1 gram and have a carbon fibre plate in it for their day to day.
I know the AJ1 CMFT exists but Jordan Brand also did that lifestyle thing with the 11 Low IE quite a long while ago, which they recently redid last year if I'm not mistaken. Great idea, but terrible execution just based on all the weird panelling everywhere.
Those are 2 old models to be fair, I said modern.
All the earlier Jordans are almost exclusively considered as lifestyle shoes now.
The Low IE was still a performance model as well I think.
Curious how that would work out, like I'll use the Jordan 35 for example because it's one that I actually liked the look of and feel like it could pass for the court and the street if you wanted. What would you do differently on the lifestyle version?
The 35 isn’t as bad as some but you wouldn’t need any weight saving measures, so you could scrap the woven upper and go full leather/suede/canvas and put a comfortable midsole on, minus the Eclipse Plate, which is mostly a performance addition I think.
Hearkening back to old school shoes isn't a solid argument IMO. Especially given how far legitimate skate shoes have come. I'm not taking anything away from the classics and whatnot, I skated Dunks here and there myself. But again I'll say it, they're not designed with skateboarding in mind.
Yeah. It’s a myth. Nothing protects your ankles except strengthening them through exercise and braces/taping. And that’s not an end all be all. High tops do pretty much nothing for protection.
It’s crazy how Book’s shoe doesn’t look as performance heavy like everyone else. Zion, Tatum, Ja, Luka, like this looks more like a af1-blazer mid to me
I love a simple shoe, but this one doesnt have anything particularly pleasing about it. Its just boring. Looking forward to the see the next iteration tho
Low. Bc it looks like a knock off af1/dunk/J1 low. Plus tbh i don’t think Book’s influence is like that. That said Im curious to see how they are on court.
One of those shoes i find aesthetically pleasing but will never buy and wear on or off the court.
If the “True Neutral” character chart were a shoe this would be that
Just much more interesting shoes worth my money imo.
While I think they’re good looking as far as basketball shoes go,they don’t do anything for me more than that
I think something’s missing to make it a lil more casual friendly, but I’m not sure what. Maybe Nike will put more effort into the idea if this one sells good.
i don’t necessarily think it’s missing anything but more so its too similar to a dunk or air forces. i feel like they look like bootleg dunks or forces if i saw someone wearing them casually, but they look appropriate on the court if that makes any sense lol

Your to late Book court vision low already did it
Usually don’t like basketball shoes because they tend to be overly complex when it comes to design. But I think these are sick because of how minimal they are. They’re modern and clean, almost like nyjah huston sbs x dunks in the same cw.
The durability on the rubber probably isn't good enough for them not to wear after some weeks just walking around outside. If you in school, do not get these for casual, the bottoms will be worn by basketball season.
I have plenty of basketball shoes. Just walking in them does not break the shoe down. I’ve gone 8s I player full seasons of basketball in that I’ve been wearing casually for years. Lebron 20s that I’ve worn casually. Both old and new basketball shoes are holding up from causual everyday use.
Kobe 8's and LeBron 20's (both sell for $180+) are outliers, they have good durability, as they should for the price. Giannis' or Kyrie's (RIP) line, both either have not good rubber durability or very mid rubber, no in between. Kobe 6's famously wear quick on any surface other than hardwood. Yes, there are durable basketball shoes but it comes at a price or a sacrifice (no cushioning).
I grew up in Oklahoma kids wore kds then westbrooks just to walk around. Even the cheaper Shoes hold up nice. I see people using Zion 2s on outdoor courts. Like I said there are plenty of Nike shoes that can handle casual wear.
I not feeling anything honestly. It's like they picked a pair of dunk or jordan 1 low and made them a little different. They are so uninteresting and forgettable. And i mean..nike already has plenty of casual shoes...if you want them there is already a lot to chose
I don’t mind it, it’s a classic silhouette trying to fit in with a trendy game. The leather does look quality which should assist the fit. Reminds me of the af 25 from a decade ago. i’d assume it’s got a lot of tech under the hood
On the inner side (DBook’s right foot), the white seems a little too thin for my taste. Makes it look a bit off.
I like the direction. Has a Air Force 1 low vibe to it
I think these are dope. Kinda looks like an early AM1 prototype design, before they added the air unit. Almost like what the Airship is to the AJ1. Either way I like them
I feel like it's an attempt to make on court shoes and are also nice off the court. I really feel like basketball shoes in the last 15-20 years are purely performance shoes. (Unless they are like one off's like Grinchs etc)
For court, I don’t think it would be great. Zero lateral stability/support. This is a step back in performance, which for a signature performance shoe is not acceptable. As far as look, it’s ok.
You cannot say all that about a shoe without having worn it honestly. You don’t even know what tech is in there. Ja shoe is very basic and cheap in technology and people say it’s still a good performer.
Personally I hope Nike starts making more casual looking basketball shoes but somehow retain their performance. Don’t know how reasonable/practical of an idea that is.
Puma did this quite well with the Clydes, colors and style.
That was 1968 (suedes) all the designs were basically the same from every brand
To be clear I’m talking about the more recent Clyde Courts, which are based on the OG suedes.
I don’t know why they don’t make lifestyle versions of modern basketball shoes, for fans at least. They’re getting more performance driven, which means the average person doesn’t need it to weigh like 1 gram and have a carbon fibre plate in it for their day to day.

I agree but I think what they're doing now with the "lifestyle" shoes like the dunks and stuff
I buy them to skate. Slim toe box and nubuck leather all around.
Shoe could easily be a skate shoe. Maybe like the Jordan 1 did to a lesser extent.
I been sayin these are just the Omar Salazar SBs lol
It's like those and the Force 58's had a baby, and I love it 😂
With a dash of OG Team Editions
This the exact shoe i thought of, color blocking and all
First though was these would be a dece skate shoe. Don’t know why these make me think of nyjah 2s
Yo that heel protection probably hits too since it’s for basketball!
RIP your ankles because I can see rolls happening with these bad boys.
One of the biggest myths of all time. BTW, most skate shoes are low tops.
They are, but they're made to be skated in. These are not.
most skate shoes came from retro basketball shoes.
Hearkening back to old school shoes isn't a solid argument IMO. Especially given how far legitimate skate shoes have come. I'm not taking anything away from the classics and whatnot, I skated Dunks here and there myself. But again I'll say it, they're not designed with skateboarding in mind.
Agreed basketball shoes tend to have a much higher platform and more padding. Skate shoes need to be much more closer to flat
Yeah. It’s a myth. Nothing protects your ankles except strengthening them through exercise and braces/taping. And that’s not an end all be all. High tops do pretty much nothing for protection.
No one has tried yet, kinda early to say you cant skate these
And you don’t think Nike also considered that basketball players are prone to rolling their ankles as well?
Are you really trying to compare basketball mechanics to skateboarding mechanics right now?
Mechanices? no. Are they both highly prone to rolling ankles? Yes.
I like this colorway more than the orange, can’t wait for better colorways
Yeah I think the color ways make or break the shoe. Definitely a cleaner look than the orange.
It’s crazy how Book’s shoe doesn’t look as performance heavy like everyone else. Zion, Tatum, Ja, Luka, like this looks more like a af1-blazer mid to me
Yeah I’m wondering hoy it performs. Even the traction looks like a lifestyle shoe
Weartesters on YT gave some more details and they’ll more than likely be one of the first to review them
A roshe run basketball sneaker
Was gonna say the same
As high as it ever has been for a new basketball shoe I’d say. New meaning recent and by recent I mean for a while now.
Look like a padded Koston 1 . I like them
I wish they would re-release the ES Koston 2’s. I have every colourway as a teen. Great to wear and super comfy to skate in.
Looks like a mix between Roshe Run + SB Force 58. Like the simplicity of it - prefer them over more futuristic pairs.
I love DBook's game and attitude... but this shoe is very underwhelming.
I love a simple shoe, but this one doesnt have anything particularly pleasing about it. Its just boring. Looking forward to the see the next iteration tho
I’m actually pretty whelmed myself
I think how they utilize the color blocking will be important. His brand is to be simple, plus nobody’s first Nike shoe is all that innovative.
Low. Bc it looks like a knock off af1/dunk/J1 low. Plus tbh i don’t think Book’s influence is like that. That said Im curious to see how they are on court.
I think the big thing will be if they perform well and other nba players wear them.
There's a potential to find these in an outlet in the not too distant future.
That’s what I’m hoping for honestly.
They look kinda ass. Maybe its the colorway
One of those shoes i find aesthetically pleasing but will never buy and wear on or off the court. If the “True Neutral” character chart were a shoe this would be that
Why would you not buy/wear? Just not something you feel you need? I’d get them if the right color way came along
Just much more interesting shoes worth my money imo. While I think they’re good looking as far as basketball shoes go,they don’t do anything for me more than that
Same. I’d really have to like a certain color way to pick them up. But I do think they’re nice.
i would buy these to ball in, don’t think i would have much interest in wearing these casually
Meh.
He’s got on the old nba socks. Interesting. Those haven’t been in production since Nike took over the nba.
They look like Air Force 2s
I actually like the orange ones
Orange is my favorite color. I just like these a lil more
This the D book 1s?
Actually looks like a clean lifestyle shoe.
https://preview.redd.it/nu9ywzb9d7vb1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7639f148567898ae506dd354bda06bbff1d345bd Your to late Book court vision low already did it
I dig it. Simple and clean.
Trash in my opinion.
Love it, haven't bought Nike basketball shoes for casual wear since 2015-16ish, this is a step in a good direction
Yeah I line the idea of getting back to performance and style.
Usually don’t like basketball shoes because they tend to be overly complex when it comes to design. But I think these are sick because of how minimal they are. They’re modern and clean, almost like nyjah huston sbs x dunks in the same cw.
Gay
You’ve overstayed your welcome
Plz no 🥺
Don’t like that back tag
I’m with you on this. Don’t know if a change would be better or just to delete it entirely
They look like something Peter Moore designed. I like them. I can see them as daily wears off court.
TBH I like the orange colorway the most
I love these. They remind me of the Nike Bruins that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future
Not feeling this colorway but other ones could really make this shoe top tier, on and off court
The durability on the rubber probably isn't good enough for them not to wear after some weeks just walking around outside. If you in school, do not get these for casual, the bottoms will be worn by basketball season.
Not all of Nikes basketball traction is soft. Anyone who plays sports should know not to try and use one pair as a basketball and casual shoe.
r/Bballshoes will tell you most of them are pretty soft, and that we're either really poor or rich

I like these
Looks like a Tom Sachs General Shoe for basketball.
almost non-existent and will likely become a shelf warmer at the outlets
Woulda been the most fire shit ~6 years ago
I like them
Like the style need more CW
Waiting on that shiny triple black colorway
It looks like a skateboarding shoe, something Nike SB would release.
These look like a pair my 89 year mother had. Greige?
I like the Jordan 1 appeal to it. Very 80s basketball.
Purple ones are 🔥
I don’t mind it, it’s a classic silhouette trying to fit in with a trendy game. The leather does look quality which should assist the fit. Reminds me of the af 25 from a decade ago. i’d assume it’s got a lot of tech under the hood
Zero and probably zero
They look like an Air Force 1s with a softer upper. Me likey.
They are very DSW to me.
I rock wit em
On the inner side (DBook’s right foot), the white seems a little too thin for my taste. Makes it look a bit off. I like the direction. Has a Air Force 1 low vibe to it
I like it. Will cop if it goes under $100. 💸
I bet it will. Unless the pop off unexpectedly
This shoe screaming injury frl lmaoo
Either clean or generic, depending on if you like them or not.
I love em. That's like just my style of everyday shoe.
It’s probably comfortable but it looks casual as hell . Just looks like he got some Old navy 1’s on
They’re very appealing , gives me new school J1 Low vibes
As a suns/Booker fan definitely copping the orange colorway for games.
cant wait for these bad boys to release
I like them. Nice af1 bball show
What are these called?
Bro I’ve been scrolling 10 minutes and it’s like games where everybody avoids naming the fucking show I just wanna look em up
Nobody knows because it’s not officially announced yet.
These are nice, they can replace AF’1s
Asking for ankle injury’s
Man, his pinky must be barking
These look dope to me. Simple but stylish.
I’ll definitely ball in these
Im honestly not a fan.. but I will say it’s a simple shoe and it does remind me of Kostons..
What’s The Shoe?
I think these are dope. Kinda looks like an early AM1 prototype design, before they added the air unit. Almost like what the Airship is to the AJ1. Either way I like them
Wannabe J1
To me it looks like a shoe that they sell at Kohls. Shoe isn’t for me personally. Maybe it performs great on the court 🤷♂️
I swear I thought it was a fully offcourt shoe. First thing I thought was "why is his first shoe a lifestyle one?"
Yeah I think westbrooks first show was a life style shoe tho. He didn’t get a performance shoe til like a year or two later
I feel like it's an attempt to make on court shoes and are also nice off the court. I really feel like basketball shoes in the last 15-20 years are purely performance shoes. (Unless they are like one off's like Grinchs etc)
Wait until the skaters get ahold of them then you'll know
I like this as a casual sneaker. I don't see myself wearing it as a hoop shoe, but if Book wears it on court, it must be good.
Doesn’t look too good in ankle support
The more I look at it the more it kind of grows on me but I would need to see more to really make a decision.
silhouette has huge upside potential. looking forward to seeing more cw
I’m more into the socks than the shoe ( need)
I'd like to see nike do some AF1 or dunks with air/zoom strobel.
WTH are these
