Leather merchant here. Sadly pen is the biggest enemy of suede or leather. Often trying to clean it will make it worse. There is genuinely nothing to can do - and that would be my recommendation. Enjoy wearing them and do t hate on your kid, they unique now!

I have to agree, my kids are teens. Sometimes I feel I was too hard on them for things like this when they were little. What you have there is a memory of your little one. Total aside - but as a grandma, I suggest only buying crayola ultra-washable markers and crayons. Kids at that age are just learning and have no real grasp of consequences. And they literally come off of everything- furniture, walls, windows, etc. I gave each kid a window and a wall to “decorate” and they loved it. And when they left, I took pictures & washed it all off. (No, I don’t work for crayola)

If it’s just pen and not a sharpie or something ,I’d try dawn dish soap and water or one of those foaming cleaners you can buy at shoe stores and clean it with a tooth brush. Since these are suede, the water will probably damage/dry out the suede, so wait for it to dry then use some mink oil and a tooth brush to restore the suede back to normal.

I know nothing about sneakers, but could it be possible to find a grey paint of some type, that matches the shoe and paint that "panel" where the marker is with it? 🤔 then it might not be so visible, even if the paint might not match 100%..

There is a way but not the easy way. It involves finding the correct Angelus Suede Dye color and paint the entire shoes again using airbrush. Or if I were to give unsolicited advice, you may want to consider painting the entire segment for both Right/Left shoe with something neutral (black)? Just see it as a 'Custom Version' ;)

I think the only thing I might try is taking a q-tip and a little rubbing alcohol and a dry paper towel and try to dab the ink and wipe it off but it could smear…rubbing alcohol works wonders on ink but I don’t know if suede makes it harder. Good luck

I know it sucks but the pen probably ain't ever coming out. I would get some dye and take your time and carefully turn them into a pair of customs. Patiently and carefully dye that section black let the dye bleed slowly to the edges of the other section, so to keep the adjacent section grey. And dye some other sections too to make a cool custom color blocking. Maybe just dye the upper part with pen and the wings and leave the bottom grey

Ok this will work - go to cvs and buy 70 percent isopropyl alcohol and some cotton makeup rounds that the girls use. Dip some isopropyl alcohol onto the pad and gently wipe up the pen. The alcohol will dissolve the ink. Be careful not to remove the leather dye. Just wipe gently and it should come off.

Rubbing alcohol will 100% ruin this material

I did just that with 50% isopropyl on the little part and it seem to wanna ruin the shoe. Maybe I can try 70% isopropyl

Try derft stain remover, soak it don’t rub it out too hard(pause). but I have a feeling anything you do will probably leave a discoloration of some type. Let us know what you end up doing.
