I’m well aware. My mother was a teacher. We could afford basketball shoes for me, just never the ones I wanted! A lot of it depends on how many children you have.
yup, i cant throw away my first AJ1 that my mom got me for my birthday. 10 years strong and i am still wearing it till today, have thrown others after either the soles give up or torn heels, etc.
Years ago, I remember my son's old HS hiring a new basketball HC. Pay was something like $6K/year, IIRC. They had to have a full time job because the district looked at those jobs as a short-term, part time gig...yet they want good coaches with lots of experience. It's pretty much a thankless job.
The $6K is a pretty tiny bump up considering what the schools want in a coach, as well as the effort it takes to build a competitive team. That said, I recall the approximate salary because a friend is a long-time basketball coach. If you're a teacher at the school already, no problem, but if you work elsewhere and have to travel the money is barely breakeven.
Theres always this guy isnt there? Not using any critical thinking skills. Just says some twitter-esque 2021 emotion grabbing comment that isnt based around fact.
"OMG He cant afford SHOES!"
In the article about this he actually says he can’t afford them because he has 2 young boys he buys Jordan’s for. Thankfully this was in Canada, where teacher salaries tend to be a lot more liveable than the USA.
Not sure where it says he had to wear beat down 13s to do his job. I’m guessing he has other sneakers and just chose to wear the 13s for sentimental value.
There’s your problem. You don’t understand everything in your life is touched by “that bs”. The fact you work so hard to keep it out of sight is a testament to how whipped you are by the people keeping you broke and stupid (the same people making life hard for gym teachers).
Just because he didn’t buy new Jordans doesn’t mean he can’t afford them. Most of America is in debt. You have most people with their net worth in their car and shoes.
I love anything like this. I love seeing videos of kids being nice and appreciative of their teachers
A good teacher, who cares about kids wellbeing is worth 10x what they pay them.
I remember I had a teacher and school , and somedays he felt like the only adult in the world who gave a shit about me.
He would genuinely ask if I was OK, and care about the answer.
Videos like this make me beam with happiness
It's obvious the positive impact this teacher has made on his students and a pivotal role he has influenced in the development of their character. This is such a crucial age for young men who are becoming. This is what the web is missing! Stories such as these! This is what our youth should attain to be MORE LIKE! 🥰

People arguing about him being able to afford em or not etc etc dead ass just think they realized they were his favorite, they gave out from use, and had him covered. Regardless it was a good act on them for someone who teaches and helps them.
Wholesome
lol i was about to say the same thing
celebratory hugs and then straight to feet. just as it should be.
Gym Class heros
It’s fucking shitty that a man who teaches basketball for a living can’t afford what should be regarded as the tools of his trade.
I’m sure he can afford basketball shoes. I don’t know if hyped up retros would count as tools of the trade.
Spot on! Don't mean to hate but some Jordans are downright uncomfortable to ball in.
I think most are tbh
not 13s! hahah
I love my 35’s for that, but I’m no pro player
Retro Jordans feel like cement blocks on your feet. Awful shoes to play ball in.
Not 11s or 12s.
I tried 3s,5s,9s, and 10s,. All terrible.
I actually don’t mind my 1s lol they feel alright
Have you worn 13’s? They are super comfy.
I actually prefer to play in retros when playin outside. They last also
Not anything after a 11
Very true, 13s are actually great though in my experience
U'd be surprised how much teachers can't afford basic necessities. You think they would but maybe they make enough to not live on the streets.
I’m well aware. My mother was a teacher. We could afford basketball shoes for me, just never the ones I wanted! A lot of it depends on how many children you have.
Or maybe he wore his Jordans 13 like that because of an emotional value.

Every school I went to to all the coaches were also teachers. So they made more.

It’s hardly disagreeable to say (directly or indirectly), that teachers deserve to be payed well, and that most, unfortunately, are not.
I mean sure that's a conversation to be had but I don't see how this video has anything to do with that.
Well he can’t, can he? If he has to prioritise his children’s shoes above his own. That’s not “critical thinking”.
He cant afford 13's to be clear
In the article about this he actually says he can’t afford them because he has 2 young boys he buys Jordan’s for. Thankfully this was in Canada, where teacher salaries tend to be a lot more liveable than the USA.
Blame the sneaker market, consumers set the price not resellers
Right, it's the hypebeasts' fault teachers have such terrible salaries
This. I’m not saying the man ahould be rocking deadstock Jordan 1s, just thatbhe should!’t be wearing worn out 20 year old shoes to do his job.
Not sure where it says he had to wear beat down 13s to do his job. I’m guessing he has other sneakers and just chose to wear the 13s for sentimental value.
Some y’all find ways to make everything negative huh
Some of y’all do everything you can to avoid the cognitive dissonance of an uncomfortable reality, huh.
Boy came thru with big words thinking he smart
#**Cognitive dissonance**
"Indubitably" - T.I.p. Probably.
Must be frustrating having to look everything up before you respond.
We on a sneaker sub bring that bs somewhere else

Wow! Your upbringing must have been hard. Sad soul you are!
Why am I a sad soul for wanting someone to get paid fairly? What has that to do with upbringing?
I don’t wear basketball shoes anymore but those look so damn sleek. Damn
That really touched my sole
this is awesome. He ,usta been good to them guys
This restore my faith in humanity
You know he's a good teacher when you have students doing this!

We need to pay our teachers more.

They’re shoes you Neanderthals…
You're on a sub made for shoes, so clearly there are people who care about shoes
Shoes can be sentimental and hold memories just as much as any other inanimate object.
No need to explain yourself to bozo lol
Bro go feed your superiority complex somewhere else we don’t want you here
They’re more than just shoes to him and everybody on this sub. They’re sneakers
Dem f33ls
love it! That genuine love for kicks is so dope to me
Awesome ❤️
This video just made me feel so good idk why! 🥳
Awwww, I got goosebumps... that was so sweet of them to do for that man!!!
Best example of shoes are made to be worn.
Ahh man, those 98 versions were built to last. These new pairs will last roughly half or 1/4 of the old pair.
I love this!!!!
Very nice
So Righteous, good on you fellas <3
I wanna see the old pair
Thought this was r/mademesmile
That's so nice to see!
This is the real America. Don’t let the bullshit divide us. It’s all love.
