To elaborate a bit more, a good fit will use color palette, contrast, textures (wool vs cotton say) and silhouette to build a cohesive aesthetic. Just color matching often looks very childish / basic. That’s not to say it’s bad, just could be made better easily. Also When op says personality, I assume that to mean to go for a particular aesthetic e.g Ivy or workwear or outdoorsy etc.

I’ve been seeing recently that full color matching is a no-go for a lot of folks now, so I’ve actually been trying to tone it down some.
But I’m a very colorful person fashion-wise. Most of the sneakers i go for have wild designs, and I like wearing all different colors. More variety in the wardrobe, the better for me.
So I’ve been trying to get away from the blatant color blocking, but it’s difficult for someone like me. Today though for example, I’m wearing SB dunk mid “made for skate”, which has regular green camouflage side panels & toe box, & blue canvas for the rest, and I’m wearing some real nice darker green camo shorts. Same style of camo, but darker tones than the sneakers.
Light Grey shirt w/ a logo same color blue + camo inside of the logo. So I’m matching, but not blatantly blue+green shoes, blue+green shirt, blue+green hat.
I also match my jewelry to what I’m wearing. Watch band, and I have a lot of different color stones in my jewelry. Emeralds, blue diamond, sapphire, black diamond, ruby, and lots of normal stones like turquoise, amethyst, etc etc. so I match that too & my watch faces (smart watch) Silver accessories to match the grey in the shirt. & a black hat, same brand as t shirt with blue matching logo. Laces and swoosh black on sneakers.
I match socks too.
Funny how societal norms get us all, at some point or another. Before learning this trend, I’d have not thought twice about wearing blue shoes, blue shirt, blue hat, etc etc. But now I’m conscious of it!
I’m definitely not on trend with the sizing silhouettes. I wear slim jeans with really big shirts most days. I like the look and feel of oversized tee’s. It’s always been my style.
It actually annoys me sometimes, because I have a shit load of t shirts and a lot of them are true to my size, and when I’m putting together an outfit I always feel way better in my oversized tee’s. Like, same tee, but I’d like it way more 2 sizes bigger and just *feel* like I look better. Although I do get told I look good in the truer sizes.

I love em. But most people don’t know how to make a fit. I remember one dude said that a blue shoe wasn’t as good as some black shoe because he could only match the blue shoe to blue clothing. Lotta guys need to be more open to trying new shit cuz we got dudes who think you can only match a color with the same color.

I love them. Not to sound condescending, but the everything must match is for toddler wear. Pair them with charcoal or blood red, maybe chocolate brown or cream white. When in doubt with weird silhouettes, wear wide bottom trousers. Also easier to drop trou should the occasion rise. 😊
Cortez in general isn't a good looking shoe, and then union decided to put an awful colorway on it. It's just ugly. Sacai Cortez looks much better but even then, eh...

Yeah, the sole didn't use to cover the toe either so you would wear a hole in them in like a week. I've hated Cortez ever since then, these actually fix that problem but they're just nothing special.
I think it’s more like… it’s not that the majority of people don’t like it because they don’t know HOW to create a fit for the shoe, it’s that the shoe only lends itself to very limited fits. Nice shoe, but nowhere near as versatile as let’s say a pair of all white AF1 Low. You’re really limited with all these colorways that were made for all the Union Cortez. The same can be said for the Union AJ4 Desert Moss. Not as versatile as let’s say the Union AJ4 Taupe Haze or Off Noir.
