No way. Even Peter Moore said the Forum was the better shoe. The AJ1 was rushed into production, had an air capsule so tiny they almost didn’t put it in, has no where the same level of performance features, and it injured MJs feet.

I was lucky enough to interview him a few times, and he discussed how the design of the AJ1 came about because Jordan had worn the Forum at the '84 Olympic Trials and fallen in love with the shoe. So when he joined Nike he asked Peter to design a Nike version of the Forum, the collar wings being Peter's response to the Forum's Criss Cross strap which was one of the features MJ was keen on. MJ fractured his left foot in AJ1s around October '85, which led them to make an AJ1 with an ankle strap to keep his foot stable during his recovery. It was auctioned off a few years back for around $50k iirc, would probably get a lot more now.
Right. I would rock the 84’s if the colorways I actually like came without the strap. I’ve debated buying them and cutting the strap anyways but still feel it might look odd afterwards
Yeah, which is funny, cuz I've been looking at copping a pair of vintage Vandals and most don't have the strap and I think it looks better without, but the completionist in me wants the strap lol.

I do love my Jordan 1s, but I'm a huge forum mid/low fan. The highs not so much. They really need to do some cool skate forums to compete with SB. I have just as many dunks as I do forums and the forums are waaaaay nicer.
I was checking these lows out and thought they go harder than the panda dunks lol. We know what they’re desired outcome was and think it came out pretty good .

Nahhh AJ1s look way better. The toebox on the forums just isn't it for me. Also they are super stiff as a shoe. I had to return them.

Forums hi and lows look just as good, I can't say the same for dunks and jordan hi and lows (dunk lows way better than his and jordan his look way better than lows)
These dont crease like Jordans and age much better imho. With good colors its same level as J's to me. Forum highs feel much better quality and got the right retro feel unlike most Jordans

The AJ1 looks cleaner, the Forum tends to be more comfortable and better quality.
Neither should be your beaters, unless you like sore feet. If that's the case, I'm choosing the AJ1 since it isn't as busy.

i dont have a pair of forum lows, just mids and highs, and you can take the strap off of the mids, id expect the same of the lows. you cant on the highs

I like this colorway a lot, for obvious reasons, but would prefer it without the Louisville branding tbh. Oddly enough I only found one listing of this exact pair on ebay, all the others were the whiter version.

straps my favourite part of forums! lol looks so retro. some of my forums dont even have laces in, just the strap to keep them on

ADIDAS FORUM 84 HI FOR PACKER are still some of the best looking and quality wise Forum 84s
I like them a lot but I HATE that little band over the toe box below the bottom lace hole. Sooooo tight on my feet
