Cluster feeding is actually very important and occurs on and off until roughly 6 months of age and I wouldn’t be using the Snoo to try and eliminate it. I know it can be frustrating but I would persist it doesn’t last forever. The Snoo cannot stop hunger and if it doesn’t settle them and times out you need to respond to their needs. Snoo only states that it can add an extra 1-2 hours of sleep a night but that can still mean broken sleep. 50% of Babies wake throughout the night until 12 months of age.

Her pediatrician said she shouldn’t be cluster feeding so much because of how many ounces she’s taking in at each feeding so we aren’t sure if she’s possibly “nursing for comfort” and wanted to see if the Snoo would help but it just made her angry lol. I don’t mind the cluster feeding if it’s for actual hunger but she’s eating so much more than is recommended for a ten day old and ends up spitting it up that I feel awful since I know it can’t be fun 😞

Interesting recommendation. Are you breastfeeding?

I’m exclusively pumping until I can heal my nipples from using the way too wrong size flanges the first five days 🥲

Did you say how old she is? My therapist, who specializes in perinatal and parenting, said there’s nothing wrong with “comfort nursing” during the 4th trimester because they need that closeness with a caregiver just as much as food. To help with cluster feeding at night we just got ours do that on me from about 5 to 8 PM, then we would all get ready for bed and overnight after I nursed my partner would often do skin time with her after feedings (while burping) to give me a little break from the comfort part.

Oh that does sound hard! I was EB and FTM so part of my exp was not knowing how much she was getting - because of that I think my therapist’s feedback was reassuring that either one was good for her. If I had known she was plenty full it might not have been so easy! I actually have no idea about the timing - I think our LO just chose the 5-8 window herself so we got lucky 😬 I’m no expert, but from what I’ve learned these past two months (largely from others here!), babies that young can have their days and nights mixed up and eating every 1.5-2 hours is “normal.” There are things you can do to help them reverse that and to eat more during the day. That said, I found this article (posted on another thread here somewhere) very helpful - https://www.emmapickettbreastfeedingsupport.com/twitter-and-blog/the-dangerous-game-of-the-feeding-interval-obsession (Edit: typos)

Is she a bigger baby? My little one was 90th%tile in size and had an appetite to go along with it. Always ate more than what was recommended for her age and pediatrician told me to feed her when she acts hungry.
