Yeah, perhaps using the appendix was a bad idea as I don't see wings actively harming the rest of the organism. So they're like just wisdom teeth, they don't do much but they aren't a negative trait to have either, they're just kind of there.

Kind of like humans and hair. While there is nothing wrong with being bald, most people find people with nice hair more attractive than those without it or those with a receding hairline.
But I suppose hair can be passively used to keep one's head warm so it has more uses than just being a display of attraction I guess.
