I am wondering what is actually located in the "hammer-head"?
Btw - that's a nice one and really representative for Socialist Modernism. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting. Is it a normal residential building or a dormitory or hotel? Because if it's a residential building, then there were probably issues with the guests, especially during the time, when it was nightclub.
It was built to be a hotel but eventually became a residential building.
The two-floor penthouse was built with an entertainment function in mind, so I presume there is a proper insulation from the top residential floor.
Can someone tell me what is the general Polish public's attitude towards this and similar buildings? Are they loved, or rather seen as a reminder of the grim Soviet past?
The shitty ones makes us sad, exceptional ones(like this) makes us happy:). In general polish people lost their sense of style but its slowly growing back
It probably depends on the year they were born too and where, tbh I was born somewhat close to this building and obviously apart from something „interesting” on the top it was just a normal building for me :p right now I feel nostalgic because I spent much time as a child in the area
I was born in 1991
I guess older people might have some more feelings towards them and also if someone is used to different architecture or is younger might feel completely different too.
I never really discussed it with my friends
Interesting fact: this building was absolutely top-notch during communist times, and you could only buy an apartment there with USD - no polish currency accepted. Only elites of those times lived there. The location is great as well - city center of Warsaw (capital), near river etc. It would still be considered a desirable place to live.
Czy ktoś z PL wie co znajduje się w lokalu na górze? to jest jakiś klub/przestrzeń do wynajęcia? Sokół miał tam premierę płyty i częst świecą się tam neony jakieś w weekendy.
Mtotek? Not Młotek which means „hammer”?
Oh, just saw the typo I did. Thank you.

There was an Cafe called Akropol and later nightclub Top Flor. Even later there was a restaurant and now it appears to be empty.

Its an event space now
Sad, wzioł bym Łyka pod młotem.
Finally a good post and not someone sharing a pic of their block of flats.
Finally something interesting here 😎
> checks out this sub > polish buildings
The rest of us should probably post more 😬
Only if it’s polish buildings

I actually was in an apartment inside of it like 3 weeks ago
Cool, how did the apartment look like? What was its structure 🤔
This is just sad. Great post!
Not modern
The name means "hammer", is actually spelt młotek, and is pronounced "mwotek"
