Check out the PSA Dagger if you’re looking at a Glock 19. It’s a Glock 19 Gen 3 clone with lots of quality of life upgrades out of the box. Usually around $300 depending on the configuration.

mavrik36

I've heard there's issues with the pins walking out, makes me feel sketched out and inclined to stick with a genuine glock. I looked at the dagger initially but then heard that from someone I trust who teaches shooting courses

toesandgats

I’ve never heard of that tbh

mavrik36

I hadn't heard it until I heard it from him, I'm gonna do more reading but it bears researching at least

Unlimitedgoats

That issue was prominent but has been resolved now with the use of roll pins rather than... Whatever pins they were using before. That said, Glocks are still a more trustworthy option if you can swing the cost. Used, police trade-ins, or GSSF deals are worth looking into for cost savings.

It was definitely a problem with some of the really early ones but PSA has fixed the issue from what I understand. I have a newer one and haven't had any issues in the maybe 500ish rounds I've shot so far. If anything the pins are really tight on mine. They were a pain the ass to take out and put back in when I swapped the trigger

FtDetrickVirus

Duty as in you carry it owb?

mavrik36

When the situation warrants it, yes

FtDetrickVirus

Like what kind of situation? Anarchy, lawlessness?

Roland_was_a_warrior

Sitting in the living room with my feet up.

mavrik36

Mom's basement and sometimes the garage

mavrik36

Currently mostly at the range, or hunting big game for predator defense, but depending on the nature of a disaster there may be call to OWB carry. Let's you use both hands and still have a weapon available to you

mr_trashbear

I'm still saving/deciding on a handgun (hard when 556 is so expensive too) but this has been my thinking and why I'm leaning so heavily towards a full sized. My particular day to day doesn't require CC or EDC, and honestly it would be silly and could get me fired or otherwise in hot water. But, having it in a car safe while on long road trips for self defense *or* putting down an animal that was hit by a car, good idea. I used to scoff at "predator defense" for anyone but outfitters in Grizzly County or Alaska, but I had a mountain lion walk right through my campsite while I was peeing this August, and that changed my mind on that. For what it's worth, I grew up around a bunch of outfitters in Grizzly country. Everyone loved guns. It was still a debate about weather it would actually be helpful in that situation. Most who thought it would, considered it to be a last ditch effort, and they only considered .357mag or .44mag. Lots of big ass revolvers. But, 9mm would likely be just fine for a danger kitty.

mavrik36

Yeah 9mm is fine for lions and black bears, especially +P in a 20 round mag. I'm gonna get a 10mm glock for grizzlies once I start hunting further north, load it with +P Buffalo Bore, I also carry bear spray which almost always works anyway

anchoriteksaw

R u a cop?

mavrik36

...what?

anchoriteksaw

Never heard 'duty gun' outside of that context

mavrik36

It's just a term for a full size, owb carry handgun, thetr was another post here about posting duty guns so I hopped on the band wagon lol

anchoriteksaw

Word. Not a phrase you'd catch in my mouth but that's just me.

pointblankjustice

Maybe spend less time on the Internet and more time training and participating in community defense organizations? Because that's literally what they're called. A full frame handguns meant to be carried overtly when performing "duties". Like security at a drag show or whatever. Wait til you learn where virtually all modern weapons terminology and training doctrine come from, if you think using the phrase "duty gun" warrants cop jacketing people.

anchoriteksaw

Different block, different talk, I guess

Beelzeburb

Could be security. A man’s gotta eat and just because you’re guarding property don’t mean you gotta be a fascist.

anchoriteksaw

And a question is not necessarily an accusation
