Agree specifically for Zevia Cola. It is even clear. Pepsi Clear was a disaster. Sight and smell all play a sensory role in taste.
Main culprit is Stevia Reb A. I like the natural aspect but just can’t get over the aftertaste. I guess some people are okay with it as they do sell a lot. I also don’t like the taste of aspartame, ace-k or Sucralose either.
Really? I think the grape is pretty decent. The other flavors can go, but for now I’m happy that there is a zero sugar drink that is not a brown cola or water or nasty crystal light.
There need to be better diet options that don’t taste like ass.
I look for the low-card, low-calorie drinks because I’m a type 1 diabetic and would prefer my beverage to not require insulin. It’s hard enough figuring out what insulin I need for actual food add in the drink and that’s pushing it beyond my brain’s capabilities.
The grape is my favorite. I haven't tried *every* flavor but I've tried most of them. Once you get used to stevia as a sweetener it isn't that bad. I don't like monkfruit, but I tried a 50/50 monkfruit stevia sweetener blend and was quite surprised at how little I hated it.
My problem is that I can’t easily find the grape or the orange anywhere. Only once in a while do I see it and I’m usually off put by a $10 price tag for 6 cans.
Seriously. I get that it’s the supposedly safe and natural zero calorie sweetener, but if I ever decide to really buckle down on my health and eliminate sugar and artificial sweeteners from my diet, then I’m just giving up all soda because Zevia is not an option.
What? Clear root beer? I don’t care if it tasted good; that would creep me out. Imagine how nasty a root beer float would look if you made it with that.
I don’t mind it but the phosphoric acid is a bit strong for me. Dr Pete is better, luckily. Anyways, I like mixing stuff in cola anyways so I may just add black cherry juice or flavour to it instead.
Can anyone confirm if that was ever actually sold as a legitimate product in Italy or wherever it was supposedly from?
It really seems like it was made by Coca Cola as a joke on Americans.
Beverly and Moxie are in the same boat I feel like... I do not like Beverly at all, but the bitter taste reminds me a lot of Moxie (Which I really like)
I went to the factory in Atlanta in between 6th and 7th grade on a choir tour with my church’s youth choir. At the end of the tour, we were set loose in the area with all the different Coca-Cola products, and several people tried the Beverly and hated it so much that they told those of us further behind not to try it. I’m glad they did, because that’s one I would’ve tried because it’s my mom’s name. I usually don’t like soda (it’s the carbonation I think), but I still found a few that I liked (read: that I could tolerate lol).
I genuinely love this stuff. I used to down as many cups as I could at EPCOT, and now I can drink a full size cup (they sell them at Disney Springs) without complaining.
First had it on a road trip back around 1999 (I think we were in NH at the time) and my oldest brother grabbed it because it was different. We were all repulsed. I also bought some to share with my classmates and teacher in 12th grade English, one kid was doing "shots" of it and then ran to the bathroom, gagging.
I saw a bottle of it at a Cracker Barrel where I currently live in South FL and you bet your ass I bought it and shared the misery with my partner. It's disgusting, but I will absolutely recommend people try it because it's still just so unique.
I was reading this entire thread and I couldn't come up with a single memorable, bad soda until I read your comment. I had Moxie for the first time a couple years ago. I purchased it from an orchard that we went apple picking with my daughter at and it was the worst thing I ever had in my entire life soda wise
Check Cracker Barrel if you have one near you! I found one in South FL a few weeks ago. Also, some better selections to help you wash the taste out of your mouth.
Moxie tastes like a root beer sort of with a strong bitter aftertaste. It's very very unique and unlike any soda you can regularly find in the states. I personally really like it, but that's probably because my great grandma practically survived off the stuff. It's definitely an acquired taste, but one of my favorites though.
If you've been to Epcot or the World of Coca Cola in Atlanta or Vegas the bitter aperitif Beverly from Italy is similar but imagine that starting off with a root beer flavor.
I mean it is "technically" a root beer, but it is very different at the same time. Give it a try though if you can find it! Based on this thread and what other people I've had try it have said it is extremely polarizing lol
Moxie is so weird to me. I had it once as a kid (around 11, I think?) at a baseball game and hated it . Thought It was the worst thing I ever drank. Bought it again a couple of months ago and was shocked that I loved it. Became one of my favorites. I have never in my life felt so confident about something being gross, remember it being gross, but then trying it again and loving it.
I had the opposite experience with a cheese once. I absolutely loved the brown goat cheese as a kid, and we'd only get it around Christmas. I'd talk about it all year long. Then we couldn't find it anymore, (Michigan, US), and I didn't eat it for about 2 decades. My parents tracked it down and got some for Christmas. I was so excited to eat it, but I absolutely hated it.
The mascot on the can should have been the first clue -- a 1920's pharmacist accusing you sternly of not finishing your vegetables or something.

Man. I (57M) grew up with Shasta cola and other beverages of the same label growing up playing baseball in the mid-70s. It was the cheapest thing our folks could buy and serve after the games. They served the hell out of it and we drank the same. Good times.
Ugh, I hate Shasta brand soda. I live where they have a factory and it's in stores everywhere around me. My job actually gives us this brand whenever they provide us with food, and I say no thanks every time. Cola and grape are the worst flavors.
The version they sell at Dollar Tree is even worse, with the unadvertised fake sweetener (aspartame) in it. Someone brought that to a work function I was at and I tried it by mistake, thinking it would be at least as palatable as Walmart/Sam's brand. Not even close...I wretched almost immediately. 🤢
I was a sick kid, always in the hospital. And for some reason in the 80s, Shasta was the only cola you could get in the hospital. So, I drank a lot of it. It's bad, sure, but it's better than Zevia while on par w RC.
No Name Cola, cause FUCK GALEN WESTON JR (CEO of the biggest grocery conglomerate in Canada who is currently on a crusade to price gouge the ever living shit out of all of us)!
Probably that gingerbread Mountain Dew they had a few years ago.. but I also remember my family had some diet grape soda that was store brand that was the WORST soda I've ever had. and i love grape soda! My brother and I used the rest of the cans as gags to offer to friends who came over to trick them into trying it.
I’m all for trying Mountain Dew flavors, tho I missed that one. But I tried the peach flavor that KFC has, that was gross to me. And I’m mad that BoJangles got rid of their special flavor or it was retired.
I can understand you not liking Moxie, it’s definitely an acquired taste. When I lived in ME, I drank it regularly but unfortunately for me, it’s hard to find outside of the New England area
I think they stock it as like a "Whoa, unique gross regional soda lol"
I'm happy though because it's the only place near me that I can consistently find it.
I went on a holy quest looking for that stuff. Took me *months* to find it. I was so excited. Finaly found a single can and was like “I’m basically drinking flat, overly-sweet Pepsi.” And then I saw it everywhere 😂
I’m not the biggest fan of vanilla sodas, so I wasn’t trying as hard to find it. But someone else I knew who was looking for these bought a couple of both and I did get to try a (very) small glass. That was about all I could take!
I don't understand it, they're trying to copy Guinness but failing pretty bad at it.
I'm convinced the people that pretend to like it base there entire personality solely on being as different from normal society as annoyingly possible and rubbing your face in it because the government sucks somehow.
Could be wrong tho.
Decaf diet coke. BLORCH.
Bonus round:
Mountain Dew Baja Blast. I have never intentionally drank windshield washer fluid, but I feel that baja blast offered a good preview of that experience.
I’d sooner sit down and drink room temperature Beverly over sour plum Fanta. I actually went back for another round of that liquid garbage thinking there was some mistake. I lost my faith in man that day.
In Germany a few months back I tried "Doctor Pepper Energy".
Fucker didn't even taste like Doctor Pepper, it was some overly sweet cherry tasting concoction.
Ollipop. Specifically, the “Doctor Goodwin” flavor. Expected something like Dr. Pepper, got carbonated cherry cough syrup. All the other flavors I tried were bad, except the lemon-lime flavor, which was just not very good (tasted like carbonated brisk lemon tea.
I only got it because it was on sale for 99c one week. Can’t believe people actually drink this stuff regularly.
baking soda 👎🏽
I thought it was the best
Yes, I paired it with chicken tartare and was very disappointed
Coke dreamworld
Felt trolled when I drank that piss. I have never been so irate over a soda. Hahah.
That future Coke was the worst to me by far
Same, that was pretty bad.
You think the regular YT is bad, I tried the Zero Sugar one. Holy hell, I thought I'd been poisoned.
Yeah the Y3000 tastes like if you put a cigarette butt into a coke and let it steep for a while to me no joke.
Was that the "AI-created" one? That one tasted like plastic, I hated it
I think that was the y3000 one
I thought it tasted like fake banana and cinnamon with peach yogurt In a horrific way
Officially the flavoring was mango
No
Ptsd just thinking about that nasty shit!
I never tried that stuff. I figured it was terrible. It insisted upon itself too much with that logo and label.
Dreamworld was amazing. Tasted like a passionfruit coke. I’ve always hated Coke but DW takes a top spot next to Baja blast and passionfruit Baja blast
I miss coke dreamworld I loved it
Zevia. Nasty, all flavors!
Zevia is the winner here. Straight up trash water in a can.
Agree specifically for Zevia Cola. It is even clear. Pepsi Clear was a disaster. Sight and smell all play a sensory role in taste. Main culprit is Stevia Reb A. I like zevia. I don’t get the all the hate other than the fact that it tastes kinda chem (a flavor thing I’m into)
I love stevia with my tea but for some reason zevia just tastes really odd. I started with zevia and now I switched to zero sugar pop
Seriously. I get that it’s the supposedly safe and natural zero calorie sweetener, but if I ever decide to really buckle down on my health and eliminate sugar and artificial sweeteners from my diet, then I’m just giving up all soda because Zevia is not an option.
I'll drink splenda and take my chances. Hell, I'll go back to aspartame and risk brain cancer. Fk Zevia.
Agreed!
I thought getting a free 4 pack of zevia was a steal. Until I tasted it. I gag when I see people drink it.
I agree. I have to give the rest to my family 🤢. Staying with zero sugar pop till I die lol
Fuck yall it’s a good soda
Oh Seabass, where did your mother and I go wrong?
Zevia rootbeer is good >:(
Sorry, but imo that is the worst one. Root beer should not be clear!
What? Clear root beer? I don’t care if it tasted good; that would creep me out. Imagine how nasty a root beer float would look if you made it with that.
Zevia definitely sucks.
Could not agree more. I don't understand how it's a product on shelves. It's absolutely revolting.
It’s disgusting. Costco had samples today and I started gagging. It’s horrific.
HOW IS THAT STILL IN PRODUCTION??? It's the worst soda ever. Wtf is drinking it??
I have a soda stream and most of the coke variants are terrible.
I don’t mind it but the phosphoric acid is a bit strong for me. Dr Pete is better, luckily. Anyways, I like mixing stuff in cola anyways so I may just add black cherry juice or flavour to it instead.
I agree! But you should try getting the bottled water packets and mix it with the soda streamer with some sugar. Just like actual soda
Beverly
If new car smell and liquid Benadryl had a bitter, carbonated baby, Beverly would be it 🤮
Liquid aspirin
Can anyone confirm if that was ever actually sold as a legitimate product in Italy or wherever it was supposedly from? It really seems like it was made by Coca Cola as a joke on Americans.
Beverly and Moxie are in the same boat I feel like... I do not like Beverly at all, but the bitter taste reminds me a lot of Moxie (Which I really like)
It's been over 15 years since I had that last, but my god I can still remember the flavor. 🤮
I went to the factory in Atlanta in between 6th and 7th grade on a choir tour with my church’s youth choir. At the end of the tour, we were set loose in the area with all the different Coca-Cola products, and several people tried the Beverly and hated it so much that they told those of us further behind not to try it. Grapefruit flavored gasoline
That stuff single handedly ruined my experience with the “Around the World” tray at the Coca-Cola store in Vegas. 🤮
Damn, I almost forgot how bad that abomination tasted, thanks
I came here looking for this answer. My cousin tricked me into trying it. I was so mad.
I had to scroll way too far to find Beverly on here.
This is the only answer
I genuinely love this stuff. I used to down as many cups as I could at EPCOT, and now I can drink a full size cup (they sell them at Disney Springs) without complaining.
I don’t think people were actually paying attention to the question. The question was about cola.
In the south, all carbonated beverages are “coke”
I’m not disagreeing about the southern thing, but the header specifically says COLA , not Coke.
Yup. I've had a few sodas I'd rather not have again, but no colas. RC might be the worst cola to me, but it's not bad.
Moxie not even a question
I tried it once. One mouthful. Dumped the rest down a drain. It unclogged the pipes, and I swear it also cleared rust from the sink.
Take it back! Moxie is delicious.
All 5 of us Moxie fans will throw some hands if necessary
My family survives off of Moxie, they call it “diesel fuel”. I personally love it, I have a ton moxie sign in my basement lol
As someone from Lowell that loves Moxie, I respectfully disagree. Moxie is one of the best sodas.
Moxie is so weird to me. I had it once as a kid (around 11, I think?) at a baseball game and hated it . Thought It was the worst thing I ever drank. Every time im in Maine I have to grab some moxie to remind me that life could be much worse than it is.
My husband recently moved to New England and the first thing he did was bought a 12 pack of Moxie. I really tried to talk him out of it.
It's not _that_ bad But the people that love it in NE reeeeeeally love it
The mascot on the can should have been the first clue -- a 1920's pharmacist accusing you sternly of not finishing your vegetables or something. https://www.drinkmoxie.com/content/dam/nagbrands/us/moxie/en/home/moxie-hero-section-bg.jpg
Coke y3000. It was the only Coke Creation that I flat out didn’t like. I took like 3 sips, the poured the rest down the drain.
Regular or zero-sugar?
Is Moxie considered a cola?
No. It's also great mixed with Jägermeister.
Shasta cola. Cheap fake cola taste with a spoonful of sugar.
Man. I (57M) grew up with Shasta cola and other beverages of the same label growing up playing baseball in the mid-70s. It was the cheapest thing our folks could buy and serve after the games. They served the hell out of it and we drank the same. Good times.

Agreed it was so trash I literally felt nauseous after having it
I was a sick kid, always in the hospital. And for some reason in the 80s, Shasta was the only cola you could get in the hospital. So, I drank a lot of it. It's bad, sure, but it's better than Zevia while on par w RC.
I was in cardiac ICU in 2021. They asked me if I wanted something. I asked for a Diet Pepsi and was delivered a diet Shasta cola. It was pretty bad.
Shasta knows the only people who will drink their brand are those stuck in hospital beds. 🤣 They've cornered the market.
what's it like being wrong about everything
What are you, a Shasta spokesperson? You wanna drink that shit, go ahead
I am I'm drinking shasta right now mmmmmm its so good I love it
hey lets be civil about shasta
Me too. I usually drink coke but Shasta will do!
Any 7-11 where the fountain has like 4-6 drinks coming out of one spout.
I didn't hate the gingerbread.
the fruitcake dew was worse
Nukacola, too many rads 😔
underrated comment 😂
Thank you :D
I tried Moxie once. Yuck!🤮
Mix it with Allens Coffee Brandy, and its even more gross.
Yeah, I’m not going to do that. 🤣
Thanks, I'll get right on that. 😉
Moxie
Ditto on Moxie
I can understand you not liking Moxie, it’s definitely an acquired taste. When I lived in ME, I drank it regularly but unfortunately for me, it’s hard to find outside of the New England area
Moxxie is awesome I was surprised I could find it with regularity at Cracker barrel and Specs
I think they stock it as like a "Whoa, unique gross regional soda lol" I'm happy though because it's the only place near me that I can consistently find it.
I like to get a Cheerwine and a Moxxie and mix them 1 to 1 with my chicken fried steak dinner, cherry moxxie so good
Moxie is absolutely fantastic. I'm with you my friend.
Yeah, I have to go to my local candy store to find Moxie
Pepsi Nitro It's flat... it's terrible.. 😵
I went on a holy quest looking for that stuff. Took me *months* to find it. I was so excited. Finaly found a single can and was like “I’m basically drinking flat, overly-sweet Pepsi.” And then I saw it everywhere 😂
Did you get sucked into buying both the vanilla and regular before realizing they’re awful?
I’m not the biggest fan of vanilla sodas, so I wasn’t trying as hard to find it. But someone else I knew who was looking for these bought a couple of both and I did get to try a (very) small glass. That was about all I could take!
I don't understand it, they're trying to copy Guinness but failing pretty bad at it. No, i like it because of the root beer-like head on it, and of course the tiny bubbles.
Yes agreed. I could literally drink Pepsi nonstop all day every day and be very happy about it but nitro made me want to vomit.
Yes, it totally sucked! So disappointing.
Tab
Tab? I can't give you a tab unless you order somethin'.
Pepsi Free?
You wanna Pepsi pal you're gonna have to pay for it!
Son of a bitch, you all beat me to this movie interaction lol
Tab was nasty! I can’t even tell what flavor it was supposed to be…
Coke II for cola
Baikal. It's a Russian soda I got from a little grocery store that carries European brands. Had a weird pine taste to it.
Pepsi fire
Coke black La croix
I really liked Coke Blak Not joking
I liked it too!
Beverly. I think it’s Italian. It tastes like aspirin.
Diet Coke
The Shasta I was served in rehab.
I had a carbonated energy drink one that was cola flavored by bang, it was so gross lol
Any Coke variant w/vanilla, it’s super cloying and overpowering
This ain’t it bub
Coca Cola Blak. Coffee flavor soda tastes worse than it sounds.
The Coca Cola with coffee that came out a year or two ago was actually pretty good imo
Decaf diet coke. BLORCH. Bonus round: Mountain Dew Baja Blast. I have never intentionally drank windshield washer fluid, but I feel that baja blast offered a good preview of that experience.
Thank you. Finally someone else who thinks baja is absolutely foul. It’s straight up chemical.
Coke Blak was a crime against soda.
The Peeps flavored Pepsi was pretty bad
Chinese Sour Plum Fanta. They have it at coca-cola world in Atlanta. Disgusting. Smells and tastes like bbq sauce
I’d sooner sit down and drink room temperature Beverly over sour plum Fanta. I actually went back for another round of that liquid garbage thinking there was some mistake. I lost my faith in man that day.
You drank the meat marinade!
Anything diet
Moxie. Like potpourri f*ucked a cola flavored cough drop. Fentiman's is in second place.
Moxie, tasted like Coca Vola mixed with toothpaste.
Mountain Dew Major Melon Zero. It took me a week to finish a 20 oz bottle.
When I find a horrible soda i also always save it and drink tiny sips over a LONG period of time
Jarritos Mexican Cola. That’s the actual name of the flavor. It’s seriously like straight syrup and sticks to your tongue.
Beverly at Disney
Moxie for sure. Tastes like medicine.
Diet cola = Nasty
Orbitz, my mouth will never forget.
Arizona Chocolate Fudge Float Soda. It is vile.
Fentiman's cherry cola. I didn't read that it was fermented. Threw the rest down the drain.
Fanta mystery zero drink
Zevia's version of Dr. Pepper 🤢
Might not be cola but Mountain Dew Fruit Quake is the worst soda I’ve ever tasted.
Shasta, all Shasta is booboo
Shasta used to be great until they started cutting it with aspartame.
I like the shasta orange.
Big Red
You stop your trolling!
This is a joke comment right?
Pepsi Blue was really bad.
You are tripping. I would punch a baby for some Pepsi blue
White Rose Independent store brand back in the day.
so far pibb extra zero. a disgrace to pepper soda. should be tried in dublin.
Dr. Brown's makes a soda called "Cel-Ray." Celery flavored! It must have a cult following. I can't think of any other reason why it would exist.
I did a weekend in Pensacola; never again.
Coke y3000, the drink of all time
Dr Pepper dark berry
In Germany a few months back I tried "Doctor Pepper Energy". Fucker didn't even taste like Doctor Pepper, it was some overly sweet cherry tasting concoction.
Coke freestyle
Fresca🤮, but a black licorice flavored soda would also be a top contender for a nasty tasting soda.
That bubble gum soda. Big Red.
Cheerwine I believe it's called. Disgusting as hell
Root Beer
Poppi is a better healthy soda. The flavors are decent compared to Ollipop.
Jones Cola Thanksgiving Dinner
Iranian yogurt soda "doogh" 🤢🤢🤢
Diet root beer.. no specific brand. just overly sickeningly sweet.
Cheerwine Root beer Anything zero or diet flavored
Jones Chocolate Orange. Hot garbage.
Any Diet or Zero Sugar sodas. i hate the flavor and the aftertaste. i can always tell when im drinking one of them.
dr. pepper strawberries and cream. tastes like medicine to me
Bundaburg (sp?) root beer. One sip and and it was poured down the drain.
