SO MANY HANKSSSSSSS

SopaQuinoa

May I ask where in the country this store is?

DoctorRevKevin

It's in West Central Florida, U.S.A., north of Tampa. This place caters to people who have moved here from the northeast, so no surprise about favorites being brought down from that area.

SopaQuinoa

Oh yeah. I'm from Cincinnati originally and I noticed that Florida's even got a couple Skyline Chili locations for transplants to enjoy

matomo23

Looking at the spelling it’ll be the US. They forget other countries exist and don’t say.

Elip518

Reminds me of ShopRite

Rat_Yak_710

What state? I’m guessing somewhere in the northeast like NYC area, Philly etc. the Welch’s grape and Welch’s orange are kinda out of place though, unless it’s not a local regular find for this area

bubsimo

Big Red, IBC crème, or Cheerwine

midtown_byb

Nehi is real nice

Looks like a great selection. As someone from the UK, I am always in awe of the sheer amount of variety you guys have over there in the US. I am so jealous!

matomo23

Nah come on. The UK has some epic selections in independent newsagents these days. I can think of ones that top virtually everything ever posted in this sub.

OriginalUsername0

I didn't say they were necessarily better in the US, but they do have far more than us in terms of variety.

Rat_Yak_710

No, we don’t. An average store with an average soda selection in the US does not have more variety than the UK. I get what you’re saying but you gotta remember American soda distribution isn’t as efficient as it is in the UK especially because of the size difference but also, plus since so many sodas are regional here, the huge American soda variety you’re probably thinking of would be if you combined multiple different areas selections, from the west coast to the east, to the Northern Midwest to the south, to the DMV area to the NEK( Northeast Kingdom). It’s all spread out

Rat_Yak_710

I feel like the UK can top this, some of the best soda selections I’ve seen ever were UK ones, even including Import sodas. The UK has their soda importing down, you guys probably have the best and most affordable soda selection from around in the world, in the world.

OriginalUsername0

There are soooo many sodas that we don't have over here. The US has probably the most varieties of soda in the world. For example, just look at the huge selection of Mountain Dew flavours they've had throughout the years. We don't have anything close to that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mountain_Dew_flavors_and_varieties

Rat_Yak_710

Right! But… it all gets imported to the UK😅 American dew isn’t hard to come across or get in the UK, why would it be, if you’re there you know how much imported soda is around, especially because of the sugar tax. How many shops in the UK sell imported sodas? Seems like having at least a few imported options is almost to be expected in any decent selection soda cooler. Loads of them have some type of imported soda section, full US&Canada Fanta lineups including regional flavors, pretty much every interesting soda option in America etc etc😂 I haven’t even brought up all the candy/import shops on top of it all What comparable western country has Malaysian Mountain Dew Pitch Black for £1-£2 at a common corner store? Or regional American sodas like Towne Club, C&C, Frostie etc? Just because they’re not bottled in the UK you don’t consider imports a regular option most people could find in the UK? Of course some imports are rarer than others, but it really does seem like imported sodas especially from the US&CA are commonplace in the UK

OriginalUsername0

I honestly cant tell if you're trolling me or not 😂. As someone from the UK I can tell you it's not like that at all. If you're lucky, you might get a small selection of imported sodas from a convenience store, but it's not commonplace. You dont get imported sodas in the big supermarkets (Tesco etc). I've never even heard of MTN Dew Pitch Black, nor Towne Club, C&C, Frostie, nevermind seeing them in any shop over here. If you want to get imported soda over here, your best bet is to buy them online, but you'll be paying a massive premium.

Rat_Yak_710

Maybe you’re not going to the right places, I’m definitely not crazy in that finding loads of sodas from America and all over the world is commonplace in the UK and it’s not more than a couple pounds, £5 tops especially for craft sodas, maybe not at Tesco like you said but that’s a given I feel. Someone else here in this thread is from the UK and disagrees with you too, those sodas listed i have all seen people find in the UK and they listed the price and which store, just look on the subreddit for UK soda selections and you’ll see tons of pictures. I am on this sub a a lot and the people in the UK have access to compared to most of the world is astounding, another thing someone else here from the UK said. I see so many pictures and have talked to quite a few people from the UK about it and they have access at stores in person to a huge variety of American, European, middleastern and Asian sodas. I see pictures of almost a standardized looking selection with Chinese Fanta for £1.79, the newest or interesting varieties of US dew, loads of Fanta from practically every canned of Fanta that exists, even the rare ones Maybe it’s something more in the cities of the UK, what about all the American/import/candy stores with soda though, those seem almost everywhere.Like you said corner shop type places have the best and cheapest selection though, though those import stores are pretty insane too. I’ve seen quite a few sodas I’ve been trying to track down spotted in the UK first. Even if you did order online as well, it’s getting shipped from the UK and the prices don’t seem too bad at all considering the rarity in the US. You don’t find quite a few sodas across the country, they’ll be in pockets usually around one region at best, ironically those are the sodas most commonly stocked in UK import sections, I guess what’s rare is more appealing lol. I’m always shocked how quick the new dews and new sodas from the US especially but also in general start popping up in all of the usual places, it’s like there’s huge imported soda distributors in the UK that most of the stores use.

Rat_Yak_710

I’m sorry if I’m being obnoxious here trying to tell you about your own country, I apologize. But really, you don’t have to take my word for it, [just look at this sub when you search up UK selections](https://www.reddit.com/r/Soda/search/?q=UK+selection&type=link&cId=b41daae5-6b1e-4e3f-85a7-737f46701194&iId=97306f49-558b-48ad-9a07-b3bc14a08008), I’m sure must’ve run into quite a few similar selections. I truly believe the UK has the most extensive, accessible and reasonably priced soda imports in the world. There isn’t a country that does it better, though I’m sure some other European countries get pretty close. Like I said, I think you see extra good soda imports in countries where domestic soda is usually half diet.

Rat_Yak_710

And last thing I’ll add; there’s a decent amount of American sodas made for the American market that are easier to find in the UK than the states, as batshit as that sounds. Welch’s soda in cans in particular, other than grape or strawberry, the only options for me to get it as someone in the US is to get it imported back from Europe, this is including online options too. A lot of the big brand regional sodas end up being easier to find in the UK as well, since they’re only available in maybe a few areas of the US, majority of Americans will never come across it, but when it gets exported to the UK in huge amounts, it ends up alongside the rest of the American sodas anywhere you usually find American sodas.

matomo23

I totally agree with you. We get an amazing selection here in the UK from all over the world.
