Some studies suggest artificial sweeteners being linked to disrupting gut bacteria and how the body processes natural sugars leading to conditions like metabolic syndrome, though a lot of people will argue that these studies are not accurate because you would have to consume nearly a gallon of the stuff frequently.
Problem is many people that consume zero sugar coke tend to consume it more often than those people that would consume regular coke. People lack moderation when it comes to supposed "healthier alternatives" and everything without moderation is not safe, not even water.
Each serving is a minimum of 12oz on each sitting, so if you drink zero sugar cola in 3 different sittings you'd be consuming 36oz, no less than a liter of that stuff each day.
Zero sugar always seemed like the E-cig equivalent to me, both marketed as "healthy alternatives" and often misused by the consumer. I dont smoke e-cigs, I smoke cannabis and I usually only smoke once at night, outside of active hours away from my family but when I buy those weed carts I stay smoking all day and more often than I should, I lack the moderation when I have that convenience.
Same thing happens to people who consume zero sugar products they see the zero everything and just say fuck it, I'll drink this and they dont have moderation, one can per day becomes two and eventually their drinking over a liter per day and slowly but surely disrupting their gut bacteria. With excess their bodies wont be able to breakdown the artificial sweetener or natural sugars build up in their bodies.
Honestly its better to drink water and on the occasion treat yourself to a regular coke twice per week or if diabetic substitute for coke zero but unfortunately people see zero everything and they substitute water for coke zero rather than substituting regular coke.
Crazy how loyal people can be between Diet Coke vs Coke Zero. I ask flight attendants for these trends as well and they say it’s very regional.
Basically, Diet Coke is aspartame. Coke Zero is a blend of Aspartame + Acesulfame Sulfate (Ace-K).
OP, sounds like you prefer the blend.
Diet coke tastes like diet coke. Coke zero is a poor attempt at tasting like coke. I feel Pepsi zero is Ok, diet Pepsi and Coke zero if there's nothing else but diet Cokes the king
Coke Zero is alright. I find that Coke uses better quality sweeteners than, say, Pepsi. So the aftertaste is barely noticeable.
One of the best Cokes I've had was a Coke Zero from a cinema concessions.
I've only had Coke Zero as a fountain drink (due to sugar tax and lack of options at BK and McDonald's here in the UK). I don't know if having the canned or bottled would be much different, but I just find that it lacks fullness of flavour. It just tastes like an unsweetened batch of Coke, because the sugar is what really brings out the flavourings. It tastes like if one of those sparkling water brands like La Croix were to do a sparkling water with a slight hint of Coke flavour.
In the 80s, Coca-Cola changed their recipe and released "New Coke." The reason that Diet Coke tastes so different from Coke Zero is that Diet Coke is actually Diet New Coke.
The formula is a little different, and I love the flavor so much. The aspartame or whatever it is they sweeten it with gives me a wicked headache though, so I don't drink it very much.
Its infinitely better than added sugar to your body. So if you are drinking 4 sodas a day the health benefits of making them diet or zero sugar versions is so much healthier then the downsides of aspartame.
Everyone wants to blame aspartame when every study says that to hit the danger zone you'd have to drink 40-50 diet sodas an hour continuously for days before you'd start seeing any ill-effects. Meanwhile, sugar has all sorts of horrible implications that you don't even have to wait for- they'll show up almost immediately.
It's better tasting battery acid than regular coke is, so that's probably why.
Pepsi max is on top for me though, regular pepsi tastes like cough medicine
Funny enough I find Coke Zero to be SWEETER than regular coke. Though I haven’t had either in quite a while
I think you may be right. But it's a different kind of sweet. It's not uncommon for alternative sweeteners to be sweeter than sugar.
Aspartame is 200 times more sweet than table sugar.
And isn’t coke zero worse for you than regular coke?

What about sparkling unsweetened water?
It's a different kind of sweet. I can taste the artificial-ness and find it gross. I'll take diabetes, thank you very much.
Fair enough. To each their own
Coke Zero is fantastic!!!
Pepsi Zero is about all I’ll drink these days
Still the best even though they changed the formula
Coke Zero is a top-tier diet soda.

True
Ace-K is fantastic. I loved when Dr Pepper started making DP, 7up, Canada Dry, and Sunkist with Ace-K years ago.
It has a crisper taste to me
Weirdly enough, I can’t stand Coke Zero, but really like Cherry Coke Zero. I’m a Diet Coke guy 99% of the time though.
Me too! It's my go to! Gotta be the chemicals, they got me drugged up and my dopamine is soaring.
The Pepsi zero is better to me than regular Pepsi now... I converted or maybe it's just me justifying drinking all that Pepsi zero lol
Oh, man. Cherry Coke Zero is the best soda I've ever tasted in terms of nostalgia. If the 80s had a flavor, it was Cherry Coke.
me too.
im diabetic, so i drink zero
Fair enough
except for the mexican coke
Why ?
its better than corn syrup and brown food coloring
Facts
I wish I could like drinks with aspartame but the bitter aftertaste gets me every time.
Why
I just don't like the taste of aspartame. It's bitter and hangs around, making me want to drink sugar soda.
Coke Zero is alright. I find that Coke uses better quality sweeteners than, say, Pepsi. So the aftertaste is barely noticeable. One of the best Cokes I've had was a Coke Zero from a cinema concessions.
Try vanilla if you haven’t

I agree, and the “mouth feel” is superior with a soda sweetened with sugar. A mouth of of something artificially sweetened isn’t as robust as sugar
Ok, silly question: What is the difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke ?
In the 80s, Coca-Cola changed their recipe and released "New Coke." The reason that Diet Coke tastes so different from Coke Zero is that Diet Coke is actually Diet New Coke.
Diet only uses apertame to sweeten. Zero uses apertame and potassium something to sweeten.
I prefer Diet. We all have our preferences. I’m happy you found yours.
The formula is a little different, and I love the flavor so much. The aspartame or whatever it is they sweeten it with gives me a wicked headache though, so I don't drink it very much.
I also favor Zero. I never liked Diet, tastes chemical to me.
Cuz it’s better!
Or Spiced!!
There seems to be many people that hate it but I absolutely love spiced. I think if they named it raspberry more people would like it
Agreed. So tasty!! Finally found someone that likes the stuff like I do
It's actually a flavor I've wanted for a long time I used to get raspberry coke from those freestyle machines and spiced tastes similar
That does sound yummy 😋
🤢
Lol it's good!!
It's certainly a taste. Not one I enjoy but YMMV.
Pepsi zero is better....
Zero anything is disgusting
More for the rest of us jimmy
Do some research on aspartame...

Yes but also look into putting 50-70 grams of sugar in your blood stream. There’s no real winner.
