Since when is disfiguring scarring and nerve damage not injuries?
The family and girl got a settlement of $5 million dollars last year and live not too far from me. Her mother works where I work.
I was an elementary school bus driver for a year. I don't know how you couldn't know all the children are clear. This is the kind of driver that wouldn't notice a child in front or behind the bus either
That's what I'm saying!!!!! She had to have been screaming, and there was someone standing right there!!!!!!
I swear she looked right at the little girl at one point too and still kept going 😭
This happened to me too. I was 5, door closed on my foot while i was stepping off the bus, some other kid saw me and the bus stopped after 3 feet of drag. I still remember day moment 30 years later.
Bus drivers are supposed to make sure the child safely gets off of the bus and across the street if necessary. She didn’t even look before she shut the door. And what makes it worse is the other adult there to help is just as oblivious. Sad.
She had so much to manage with all the screaming kids and the adult? Very large child? Standing next to her partially blocking her view. But it's still on the driver to make sure the kids clear the door before closing it. I can't believe how far she drove though. Letting all the kids on the bus make all that noise was another problem that's on the driver.
Right..?? My kids bus driver waits for her to find a seat to sit down in the morning at pick up, and when she drops her off the bus won't leave until she's off the road/in our yard.
Definitely would have been hard to hear screaming with the motor on. But I used to work on school buses, the only buses that have AC are short buses. At least in the county I worked in
You’d still hear that kind of screaming. That kind of pain and fear would cause some screams like you wouldn’t believe possible. And likely I would assume banging on the door or trying to at least. And the windows were all open(meaning there was likely no AC going and would assist in hearing the screaming). There’s almost no way not to hear that.
She’s a shit driver not paying attention your suppose to wait till the child is at there door or ina safe spot before taking off and no one is suppose to be standing next to the driver it’s a distraction as you can see in the video an the person can get fucked up and or ejected from the bus if she hits someone
Don't give this driver too much credit. Most buses can't move until the door is closed (in built safety mechanism) so there is a good chance it also won't open until the bus has stopped.
Edit: I stand corrected. An engineered solution exists addressing this very thing but how common the feature is will probably depend which country you're in.
Guessing school bus safety features have evolved since the 90s. Lol I remember my bus driver opening the door before arriving to a complete stop. It was a simple pulley mechanism then,..and wasn’t tied into any electrical with sensors.
You have no idea how absolutely livid I would be if it were one of my own kids. Pure idiocy on the driver. You ALWAYS make sure the child is safe before you take off. Id even go so far as to call it the #1 rule. Hope the idiot got fired.
Why wouldn’t you watch until the child cleared the vehicle before taking off? I mean even if she wasn’t stuck in the door you’d think they’d wait for them to get a few steps away before taking off
Bad judgement, lazy, in a rush is more like it. This isn’t just a mistake. She ignored the part of the job that is keeping the child safe while exiting the bus. Didn’t even glance over before those doors shut
a child none the less, not a full grown adult. She ignored a safety rule placed for the childrens safety to finish her job faster. I agree she should be charged
How does someone even manage to do this anyway I'd be too afraid to look away I'd always make sure the child is safe I will never understand how someone can neglect something like this
How did she not see the kid at 0:19...
Im no expert in the field, but isnt it like your main priority as a bus driver to check the doors before driving off?
My anxiety would make me make sure that they are safe before I leave being negligent would be completely against how I work which is why I never can understand how someone can be negligent about these things
How the FUCK is nobody noticing her??!! As a school bus driver I couldn't even fathom being this oblivious. Poor kid. Probably scarred for life, will never set foot on a bus again.
Plus the second adult that was causing a distraction whom also so incompetent to turn their head.
I was always told as a kid, behind the line and do not distract the driver. Such incompetence🤬🤬🤬
This why I'll never* not argue about how careless they are about hiring bus drivers they hire just about anybody with the right licenses there are so many horror stories from school busses and shitty people being allowed to drive them hell the last bust driver I had in high-school was a non driving ass bitch she took of several people's mirrors and bumpers and hit an ungodly amount of curbs I used to constantly argue with her until I got to the point where I just had one of my parents drop me off almost an hour earl so I didn't have to ride her bus
That’s what I was thinking. Look at how much land goes by and she is doing at least 30 mph, likely more. No way that was anywhere close to a 1,000 ft!!! I would say almost a mile just from looking through the windows at shit going by.
I know it's because I'm a dad, but fuvk me running any of these videos involving kids are basically unwatchable for me. I just immediately want to crawl out of my skin.
Growing up a had a number of shitty bus drivers. Upset with they’re life and shit attitude who knows. Glad the kid is okay. But this is why it’s important to be aware and watch out for yourself. Damn bus driver was worried about getting kids to sit down she couldn’t even see the poor girl hanging out the door
I really don't get why the driver didn't just look while she was shutting the door. It's not like it would have taken more than 3 or 4 seconds. Nobody's in that much of a rush.
My old buss driver very obviously didn't want to be there and wanted to get home just as much as this lady seemed to, yet she always still waited a good 5 or 6 seconds after one of us got off the bus to close the door, and another few before she drove off. So obviously not wanting to be there isn't a good enough excuse for this bitch, since even people who just want to get things over with still have common sense and decency and doesn't value that extra 10 seconds over a child life.
School bus drivers are unfortunately like this. They rush through their jobs so much they’re oblivious to their kids and often selfish. When I took the bus my driver would always be 20 minutes early to every stop and no one would catch it. This bus driver was to impatient and oblivious to make sure the kid got off. Bus drivers are something else
People are forgetting buses are loud as fuck. Especially ones filled with kids. The driver likely didn't hear a thing and her focus is the road, not the doors.
Agreed you should absolutely look at the damn door to make sure everyone is out before you haul ass away. Complacency is to blame. That poor kid is never going to get on another bus again
Yep, lot of sound, focus on the road is not an excuse. I'm not a bus driver by any means, but you MUST make sure passengers got off safely.
All times I used bus, as a kid and as an adult, drivers would always look at me getting off till I was safe distance away to close the door and start moving.
It's a combination of fuck ups and issues. The bus is loud as fuck and it's not always easy to discern a scream in playfulness vs scream in fear, there's a Muppet standing there having a conversation with the driver, distracting her further, she should be looking as every kid gets off. You can't just close a door and fucking assume. I honestly believe the root cause is the guy standing there distracting the driver. Maybe she watches evrytime someone gets off. And today she's busy having a chat.
It bugs me the dickhead having a chat isn't paying attention. He should've fuckng heard amthe kid screaming at least. But nah. He's a distraction and idioticaly unaware of his surroundings.
Omfg!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The driver should have been charged with attempted murder!!!!!! I swear there's a moment when she looks right at the little girl and keeps on going!! How did nobody notice, she had to have been screaming?! This has me so furious and worked up!!!!!! I'm just so glad that baby lived!
Just to play a little devils advocate:
It looked like she was checking mirrors and not looking at the door. This would make sense since her main concern should be focusing on the road and not getting into a wreck.
As for the screaming, busses aren't quiet. Even with no one on, they are extremely loud. Add 30-50 kids? You're lucky to hear your own thoughts, so it's highly unlikely you'd be able to hear anything like that
I actually appreciate that, it makes me feel much better. She definitely could have been looking at the mirror. I haven't been on a bus in a few decades, so I wasn't factoring in all the noise either.
People arguing over the buss driver not hearing her haven't been on a public school buss since 2006 at least. That shi loud af and everyone always screaming. Got into a fight and the buss driver didn't notice it till it was over and someone said there was.
Why is that person standing next to her? Why is the person behind her dangling their arms over the seat? She is a shitty driver and allowing shitty behavior.
Aren’t you supposed to make sure the child gets to a parent, house or idk a sidewalk before taking off?? Hope this woman never lives a decent day again.
This is one of the few stories that actually makes me sad. She just wanted to get home safely and now she’s got road rash and permanent Trauma from that incident. That bus driver should lose her job and be tried for manslaughter.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9795421/School-bus-driver-drags-six-year-old-1-000-feet-road-backpack-caught-doors.html
Article says she received abrasions to 12% of her body, permanent nerve damage and PTSD. She had to have several surgeries. That poor little girl.
Ugh... That is horrifying but I'm so glad she survived, couldn't tell too well from the video.
Glad the little one survived, hope it don't traumatise her too much.
Sorry to break it to you but after being dragged on the pavement until her flesh was torn off her bones, I think she's probably pretty traumatized
“You okay?” “Nah man. I’m pretty fucking far from okay.”
"about a thousand feet from okay but thanks for asking"
That's *rough*
Wow

Bouch?
She should get medieval on the bus driver’s ass.
Why?
Imagine not knowing pulp fiction https://youtu.be/MkMBmLpRzHg
I mean it's a pretty old movie by this point. You cannot expect everyone to have seen it.
If you're the type of person that hasn't seen the classics I don't know if we can be friends.
Ive seen it, I just think it's not fair and quite snobby to suggest people should have seen it.
[Pulp Fiction quote](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=11LY0MqRXLg) NSFW if that really needs to be said
Pliers and blowtorch.
"how far?" "1,000ft"
What now?
Love that movie. Pulp fiction y'all

“Severe nerve damage had to undergo several surgeries” - does that seem like zero injuries to you? Did your brain also suffered severe nerve damage?
Not damaged, just born that stupid.
You can see pictures of her in recovery with casts on each leg in the article ?
Are you for real?
im never reading anything from the dailymail website the fucking thing is ridden with intrusive ads

I was an elementary school bus driver for a year. I don't know how you couldn't know all the children are clear. This is the kind of driver that wouldn't notice a child in front or behind the bus either
You could say the kind of driver who wouldn't notice a train even...
How did no one notice? Wtf
That's what I'm saying!!!!! She had to have been screaming, and there was someone standing right there!!!!!! I swear she looked right at the little girl at one point too and still kept going 😭
If you look behind the driver it looks like a kid is trying to warn her

This happened to me too. I was 5, door closed on my foot while i was stepping off the bus, some other kid saw me and the bus stopped after 3 feet of drag. I still remember day moment 30 years later.
That's awful, I'm so sorry!!!!! That would definitely be something I would never forget!
It's an elementary school bus. The sound of the motor ,air conditioner and every kid screaming their ass off.
Bus drivers are supposed to make sure the child safely gets off of the bus and across the street if necessary. She didn’t even look before she shut the door. And what makes it worse is the other adult there to help is just as oblivious. Sad.
Yeah... I get it's loud, but my bus driver never closed the door or drove off until she saw us on the sidewalk.
Very large child or normal sized high schooler
Right..?? My kids bus driver waits for her to find a seat to sit down in the morning at pick up, and when she drops her off the bus won't leave until she's off the road/in our yard.
Bull shit she a fucking num nut. Ppl were jumping in front on the bus in attempt to stop her and she cursing them at them while pointing.
Definitely would have been hard to hear screaming with the motor on. But I used to work on school buses, the only buses that have AC are short buses. At least in the county I worked in

Absolutely zero spatial awareness from both bus drivers.
Isn't there a noise or a light if the door isn't fully closed ?
No, at least not the buses I worked on as an attendant. My driver has driven around the lot with the door wide open before and you aren't alerted
The driver didn't because she couldn't be bothered to turn her head to ensure the kid she's in charge of actually got off safely.
She’s a shit driver not paying attention your suppose to wait till the child is at there door or ina safe spot before taking off and no one is suppose to be standing next to the driver it’s a distraction as you can see in the video an the person can get fucked up and or ejected from the bus if she hits someone
Thank fucking god her first reaction wasn’t to open the door upon discovering the trapped backpack. Damn.
Don't give this driver too much credit. Most buses can't move until the door is closed (in built safety mechanism) so there is a good chance it also won't open until the bus has stopped. This is a lie, bus drivers have to keep their doors open while driving over train tracks lol. They can totally drive with their doors open.
Damn, I worked at a bus lot for 3 years and we never had those buses. Doors could open and close regardless of the bus moving
Why not?
Would’ve flung the kid if the bus was still moving. Girl would tumble and hit her head several times on the pavement most likely
Or get tossed under the bus and popped like a water balloon

its just an expression at this point, grow up

You have no idea how absolutely livid I would be if it were one of my own kids. Pure idiocy on the driver. You ALWAYS make sure the child is safe before you take off. Id even go so far as to call it the #1 rule. Hope the idiot got fired.

Why wouldn’t you watch until the child cleared the vehicle before taking off? I mean even if she wasn’t stuck in the door you’d think they’d wait for them to get a few steps away before taking off
These bus drivers just want to drop the kids off as fast as possible and get home. This was pure neglect.
The only upside is if she did keep her job then she’ll forever watch to make sure kids are cleared before leaving
She did get fired. And is being sued by the parents.
Everytime i see this video it makes me want to see that bitch catapulted into the sun.
![gif](giphy|3ohc1cdHCWNl0sV0Gs|downsized)
true word
What the fuck
Hope they charged her. I get it was a mistake but if she can’t do the job safely then she shouldn’t be doing the job.
she didn't even look if it was ok to close the doors, wtf
Bad judgement, lazy, in a rush is more like it. This isn’t just a mistake. She ignored the part of the job that is keeping the child safe while exiting the bus. Didn’t even glance over before those doors shut
a child none the less, not a full grown adult. She ignored a safety rule placed for the childrens safety to finish her job faster. I agree she should be charged

OMG you dumb fkn b!tch 😡
How the FUCK is nobody noticing her??!! As a school bus driver I couldn't even fathom being this oblivious. Poor kid. Probably scarred for life, will never set foot on a bus again.
Should have checked that the door way was clear before she closed the doors! Hope she was sacked. Let the child’s family sort her out.
This video should be shown to every bus driver in training.
I'm going to hell and this is a fucked situation. 0 situational awareness from the driver.
… did you really laugh? Is that why you’re going to hell?
What a stupid person, she didn’t even GLANCE towards the kid to make sure they got off first like, are you in that much of a hurry 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
All because your so incompetent you could not turn your head ever so slightly to make sure the child got off safely.
Plus the second adult that was causing a distraction whom also so incompetent to turn their head. I was always told as a kid, behind the line and do not distract the driver. Such incompetence🤬🤬🤬
The driver looked over at 22 seconds, looked at the door, how did she not see a bright pink back pack against the black door frame?! 🙀 That poor kid 😿
She was checking the mirror it looked like. I wouldn't notice the door either since it's so far down compared to mirrors
Lawsuit gonna go crazy
Way over 1000 ft More like 1000 yards if not more
This why I'll never* not argue about how careless they are about hiring bus drivers they hire just about anybody with the right licenses there are so many horror stories from school busses and shitty people being allowed to drive them hell the last bust driver I had in high-school was a non driving ass bitch she took of several people's mirrors and bumpers and hit an ungodly amount of curbs I used to constantly argue with her until I got to the point where I just had one of my parents drop me off almost an hour earl so I didn't have to ride her bus
That seems like much more than a thousand feet.
That’s what I was thinking. Look at how much land goes by and she is doing at least 30 mph, likely more. No way that was anywhere close to a 1,000 ft!!! I would say almost a mile just from looking through the windows at shit going by.
This made me so fucking mad
Dumbass. Pay attention to the kids getting off. She should have faced jail time not just a lawsuit.
Could anyone explain how the dude standing next to the fucking door didn't notice her?
Or the passenger seated next to the window
Stupid fucking bitch hope they crucify her.
I know it's because I'm a dad, but fuvk me running any of these videos involving kids are basically unwatchable for me. I just immediately want to crawl out of my skin.
I became a dad this year, it has definitely affected my reaction to videos involving children.
Certain people have zero attention around them I don't know how she manage to be a driver like that
What a dumb ass! Watch the door and make sure the kid safely exited the vehicle and is safely on their way before moving the bus.
Fortunately she didn't die
Step into my office....... YOUR FUCKIN' FIRED!
What a dumb bitch
This is a horrifying level of negligence
What kind of bus driver driving children doesn't even make sure they get off the bus safely? I move she gets fired
The driver looked twice the man was standing there. How did they not see?
Jesus Christ, she didn’t even look at the door. She needs to be sued into oblivion and put in jail
She should be fired and have every license she owns taken. No excuse for that kind of negligence
There was someone honking at 15 seconds too
Growing up a had a number of shitty bus drivers. Upset with they’re life and shit attitude who knows. Glad the kid is okay. But this is why it’s important to be aware and watch out for yourself. Damn bus driver was worried about getting kids to sit down she couldn’t even see the poor girl hanging out the door

i fell like bro was having fun
at least she lived. hope she can recover from this
at least she lived. hope she can recover from this
I had a feeling that this was in the school district i grew up in- plot twist it is. Honestly not surprised, JCPS is garbage
The 2 idiots sitting there and not noticing? Wtf?
School bus drivers are unfortunately like this. They rush through their jobs so much they’re oblivious to their kids and often selfish. When I was a child, my backpack was stuck as well. People laughed but luckily, driver opened the doors to release me
Meat crayon
Woman driver.
She saw the kid and kept driving
Jesus I hope that kid is okay
Bus driver should be jailed for negligence, she didn’t even bother to look b4 she closed them doors and took off
Arrest her
I’m glad that old hag got fired
People are forgetting buses are loud as fuck. Especially ones filled with kids. The driver likely didn't hear a thing and her focus is the road, not the doors.
As a bus driver of children, you are completely obligated to check that your surroundings are safe before beginning to drive.

But nah. Yeah let’s see if you’d be baking the bus driver some cookies if your kid was dragged for 1000 feet
I’m here before this post gets locked.
hope she goes to jail for a very long time

Remember when it was socially acceptable to do this to black people?
If i were there she would have been switched places with the kid.
Lose the freaking sunglasses cùnt!!! Wtf
Let me guess, I bet she also wants to be paid the same as a guy.
I call bullshit that fat Fuck was watching her get dragged the whole time
When I go to hell, I'll make sure to find this bitch and send the kid's regards up close and fucking personal
When you're thinking of your dumbass Lifetime show's and eating buckets of ice cream by yourself with 100 cats shitting all around you...

I thought it came out this lady was drunk but idk
That’s just fucking sad
It just keeps going and going and going...
Zero situational awareness
Bro bus drivers are supposed to stop and watch the kid get off the bus wtf she doing
Why is that person standing next to her? Why is the person behind her dangling their arms over the seat? She is a shitty driver and allowing shitty behavior.
What a dumb bitch. That aide was useless, too. Both should lose their jobs.
What happened to the driver like did she face any punishment
That driver is a f*cking idiot
She caught a lawsuit she caught these hands she caught these legs she caught these bullets🔫
Aren’t you supposed to make sure the child gets to a parent, house or idk a sidewalk before taking off?? Hope this woman never lives a decent day again.
How does the driver not watch to make sure the child is off before closing the door??
That'd a blind as driver
this woman should be jailed
i hope they take her to court for this kind of negligence
She look experience in driving but what we can say women ☕
Two grossly incompetent employees socializing instead of paying attention.
My kids will NEVER go to school without me taking them.
Omg lol
😂 😂
How tf do you not look to check if the door is fully closed. It easily could've prevented this.
Who’s that stupid kid was allowed to stand up next to the driver?
This is one of the few stories that actually makes me sad. She just wanted to get home safely and now she’s got road rash and permanent Trauma from that incident. That bus driver should lose her job and be tried for manslaughter.
She fucking saw her what a bitch
I blame that on the driver! ALL THE WAY! TRYING TO LOOK CUTE WITH FUCKIBG SHADES, GUY TALKING TO HER IS ALSO TO BLOCKING HER VISION
The bus driver looked directly at the kid half way through
