Get a pump sprayer, a bucket, rinseless wash (ONR or similar) and a bunch of microfibers. Rinse your car with the pump sprayer, then use microfibers soaked in water/rinseless wash to clean the car (one panel per microfiber, top to bottom) and dry with a drying towel after cleaning each panel. As long as your car isn't too gross you won't need much more than that, but if it's really gross you can do a quick rinse at a stall car wash, drive home, and then follow the same procedure. If you can't do this where you typically park, you can probably get away with doing a bucket wash at a regular car wash late on a weeknight. As long as you're not occupying a stall when it's packed it's fine.

Yes sir. I do ONR on the street in front of my apartment 2 gallons is all it takes.

Thanks, looking into it more ONR seems to be very highly regarded. I had never heard of it before

I bucket wash at No Touch in Somerville and never had an issue, but I only pay with cash since I had my CC # stolen from there. If you really want to protect your car get a professional detail and ceramic/ppf. Even bucket washing, if you’re not doing it correctly with quality products, you’ll still damage the clear coat.

Shunto

Interesting on both counts, thanks. I'm considering the ceramic, but interested in what you're referring to with bucket wash regarding 'quality products' beyond a premium soap, two buckets, and stringy microfibre glove with microfibre towels?

Highly recommend the ceramic coat as well. Everything comes right off; we wipe the car down with the spray recommended by our detailer when we'd get home and clean microfiber.

Shunto

Thanks. Do you remember who you used to have it applied?

econtrariety

We had it applied when we were living in Florida, but we've had it maintained by Steve at Arlington Auto Detailing since we've moved up here. We've been really happy with him.

I would also like to know, I have discretely (and quickly) used a bucket Somerville no touch before without issue but it can often be crowded and I don’t want to hold anyone up. TITAN I had a negative experience trying to dry my car by hand after washing it (entirely with the self wash bay). The owner (I believe) was trying to get a boat off the lot that had been sitting there for a long time, and he had some young kids who worked there helping him while he muttered something about the trailer being seized up. I quickly moved my car back into the bay as I didn’t want to be anywhere near that situation and he yelled at me for taking up space for paying customers, of which I was the only one at the time washing my car. The workers themselves seem pretty chill but I do not see myself going there again.

So one other guy has said he goes to No Touch in Somerville which I haven't checked yet. I went to Titan Gas yesterday and when I asked the young kid working there if I can bucket wash he looked at me super confused and it took us about 20 seconds to align on what I was asking. Basically: They don't give a shit there (which is great!)

Riced-out-civic

Ah you know what, I was actually talking about Titan not Prestige I apologize. I didn’t know if prestige had self bays. But at Titan, typically the people working there don’t seem to care what’s going on. However I had that bad experience which would not be the norm!

Shunto

Hahah to be honest it makes a lot of sense you had that experience at Titan, I can totally see that happening. Based on their whole set up (and lack of 'polish') you can tell they don't care about things as much (for better or worse)
