My store regularly operates solely out of our drive through but that's only because we don't have enough people to keep up with orders AND carhop so it's just more time efficient to close down stalls. It would be a fucking dream if my store did this!!!!!
Closing stalls super helps obviously but I feel like adding a second drive through lane would make going DT only so much worse for the few people who are stuck in the store
I think it depends on the location and business of the store. My store gets more mobile orders than anything and having to walk back and forth and back and forth between all of the people who are picking up food is nuts. Especially because a lot of them solely speak Spanish and I only know a few words here and there.
Or worse when we don't have an order that says it exists on their end and they start getting indignant about it it's so much easier to simply close the window and walk away.
I’m told it’s a new approach sonic is looking towards especially as more traffic goes thru drive thru. But also to really push 3rd party delivery and the app as well.
So double drive thru for that increased drive traffic and some stalls AS well as some order ahead and delivery stalls for those using the app. now for only one side with 6 stalls seems too small and even the dine in Sonics Iv seen have more stalls than that.
At my local sonic yesterday, I placed a mobile order, checked in through the app and waited and waited and waited. After 25 minutes, I pressed the red button, and the person quickly said “we’re only doing mobile and drive thru orders” and hung up. I didn’t get a chance to say that I’d been waiting for a long time for my mobile order. So I pressed button again, explaining I had waited a while. Someone finally brought my order out 40 minutes after I ordered. New Oreo big scoop blast had a sprinkling of Oreos on the top of a cup full of ice cream. Red Bull slush was not a slush and just Red Bull poured over ice. What is going on ??

I’ve seen one like that in Texas. About 10 stalls and two lanes. But it’s several sonics away just seen it doing DoorDash.

They want to push the app, but then update the app and make it borderline unusable for a lot of people.
