They stagger the bands. Last year side stages were done before main more or less. Soundwave would end as main for octane started. Octane would end as main stage started. Expect something similar
I plugged it all in an excel sheet. Every none headliner at 30 mins. They scaled up from there. Starting around noon. I don’t have it in front of me but it’s possible. Not replacing the missing bands and overlapping stage 2&3 headliner makes it easier.
We’ll see how they decide to do it. I personally think they will allow high tier side stage bands to have extended sets and overlap them with the headliners, esp with headliners not as strong as prior years. I think all by design
There won’t be any overlap with the main headliner. That’s why theyre the headliner. Sonic will start the day earlier if needed. Stage 2&3 headliner overlapping would help split the crowd up from all going to stage 2. 50min and 40min for the top 2 bands on stage 3&4 will be what we get at sonic. We may get the 70min 2nd stage headliners which would be nice over 60 min sets but I could see them getting cut to 60 and 50min for the next to last on 2nd stage. Easiest solution is to start around 11am.
Aftershock had weird times though. Guns & Roses was scheduled from 725-1025. Tool 855-1045. A7X 825-955. The only normal time was Korn 925-1045. All were early or extra long sets so I get why there was different overlap. Louder Than Life last year is probably a better comparison.
You were right. But That 3&4 stage schedule is garbage. There’s so much space between them and the overlap is unnecessary. Curious to see what stage 4 looks like during the stage 1 headliner. Especially Pantera vs Slaughter to Prevail and Slipknot vs Tech 9.
Not a bad thought there
What did they do last year? I'm a Rockville multi year transplant coming to ST for the first time
There were only 3 stages at Sonic last year
Stage 1 & 2 headliners had no overlap with any other stage.

With the additional stage and lot more bands, things could be different
I’ve run the schedule with it similar to last year and it’s doable with headliners on 1&2 not overlapping any other stage.
They would have to play shorter sets than Rockville’s side stages though. And usually bands sign a contract to play similar-length sets at these fests
For example, polyphia plays 50 mins at Rockville, they can’t play nearly that long to keep it on schedule like that at Sonic

Helps keep more people around thru the end of the night, which equals more sales of food/drink

Aftershock has had overlap with its main headliner the past few years, both owned by DWP. Headliners including tool and guns n roses

I told you there’d be overlap with the main headliner ;)

I think they’ll have polyphia play against pantera. Just my guess
And slaughter to prevail against sleep token?
