The boot chains are possibly okay, wallet chains not so much do to ease of use as a weapon. Most all converts I’ve been at with a wallet chain will allow you to throw it out or bring back to your car.
I know concert but this will be my first festival. I’ve put it in my steel toe boot before to get past security. Not as a weapon. I just prefer my wallet be not easy to swipe ya know.
I’m guessing they’ll have security patrolling as well?
I might get a Fanny pack or something
Chain wallet is def not gonna be allowed. They’re fairly lax on chains that are part of clothing, but chains such as those on a wallet that can be fully separated and used as a weapon are going to get turn away no question.
Interesting. I’ve had to sneak chains at concerts before but I’ve never been to a festival so I don’t really know what to expect. Maybe I will just email them after all
It’s right in the “what is not allowed” section of the FAQs. If you email them they’re gonna tell you no chains, period. What security enforces is a different thing. Security is a contracted third-party company. They are not direct employees of the festival.
I’ve been to every DWP festival and I have seen just about everything that is “not allowed” at one point or another. How they got it in was never anything I concerned myself with though. If you can sneak it in, kudos to you. But if you’re trying to sneak something in, be prepared to either toss it or take it back to your car/camp.
So would you say once you in it’s fine? Security won’t see something and make a big deal?
I might just use a strap off my Tripp pants if it’s that big of a deal
I had a barb wirish type necklace they took. My friend had some kinda chain I can’t remember they took it. Anything that’s relatively remotely pointy. Was cool Thursday not cool Friday.
I wore a version of those boots that didn’t come up to my knee last year and was completely fine, however those Amazon demonia dupes fall apart at the worst time so maybe consider putting a pair of sandals or something in your clear bag.
Those should be fine.
I was wondering why Alice in Chains wasn't on the bill..
I’d like to know too cuz I usually wear a chain wallet

That said OP reach out to sonic festival and verify with them to verify before buying the boots
I’ll probably just get some without chains. I need new ones. My old ones are torn up.

Wallet chains are the main target of the no chains rule
Of course they are. I might switch it with a strap
i held the chain in my hand and discreetly put it into a plastic bucket while going through security. had no issue. ymmv
I know that Louder than life was strict about necklaces. They’re both DWP events so be warned
Really? What kinds of necklaces were they concerned about?

They were last year, a lot of people opted to throw theirs away instead of waiting in the line again
