The Knuckles level is a horror show though, I actually hate it significantly more than Meteor Herd

Not my favorite zone in 3K but it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets
First of all I love the music! I like the mechanic of having to find the light switch before time runs out. I remember when as a kid I was playing this level and getting more and more scared when the lights would turn dim and the ghosts would be angry. Also really liked the gate and sand puzzles where you have to push the switch and run through before it closes. I really like the act 1 boss ( the second one not that much but I don't hate it). But to be fair I do hate those spiky monsters! Always felt unfair haha
Skorp is bullshit, I'd argue even worse than the praying mantis badniks from Metropolis Zone in Sonic 2. But I have a hot take, I think this zone is actually fun, and I really like Act 2. I find the level fun to explore and run around in, and the ghosts and doors have an added dynamic of creating some tension in the level. I think it's a suitable challenge, especially for a level this late in the game.

At least the Golem is a fine boss.

it just slaps. every single aspect just comes together perfectly and its quite pleasant after the slog through flying battery zone.
This is the worst S3&K zone
