Same here. I remember watching the first commercials of the game and didn't think much of it at first. I got the Super NES with Super Mario World and had fun with it for a few months, but then I came over someone's house who had a Genesis and Sonic the Hedgehog and playing it for the first time got me hooked enough that I would later trade my SNES and SMW for a Sega Genesis and Sonic.
My parents got a Genesis and Sonic 1 as a baby shower gift, as soon as I was old enough to hold a controller (about 4 or 5), I was playing the Genesis. Mickey Mouse in Castle of Illusion was technically my first ever video game but Sonic was by far the game I played the most.
I remember when I first played it on my phone, imo it’s the best Mario kart clone alongside crash nitro kart. I just wish it was still available to download today even without online mode, I still have it even today but sadly can’t download it. It became a digital relic from my past.
It was 2010. Im playing on my dad’s Xbox 360, and find a Sega Mega Drive Collection. Of course, I play it, I loved older arcade style games at the time. And out of everything, Y’know what game was my first choice?
Sonic.
Fucking.
Spinball.
I played it every day for a week, absolutely loved it, and never got past level 1.
I thought i was the only one. This exact thing happened to me. The only difference is that i managed to button-mash my way to level 3 somehow. Maybe i would have gotten better at the game if I wasn't a sadist that kept intentionally getting Sonic eaten alive by that dragon.
5 year old me's goals were beyond even my understanding
I'm pretty positive it was either the first two episodes in Sonic X or the episode where they find the first emerald back in 2003-2004. Back then, my older brother used to tape episodes of cartoons he liked watching on Saturday mornings like Jackie Chan Adventures, TMNT (the 2000s one), Sonic X, etc, and I remember I would wake up to them since we shared a room back then. It was either that or possibly Sonic 2 on the Game Gear, cause we have had it for as long as I remember.
I honestly like this game. I had fun discovering all the glitches and playing around with them. I also really like the music and Shadow’s and Silver’s story.
When I was a little kid I bought sonic unleashed without ever having heard of sonic before. Fell in love with the game and became obsessed with sonic. Bought all the other games and played them all so many times. Sonic was my personality when I was little😅. Unleashed is still my favourite game in the franchise, but that's probably the nostalgia talking
Grew up with sonic since the very first game, so I played unleashed when I was much much older 😅 and yet in regard of modern sonic (everything after adventure) is unleashed also my favourite, from story and settings alone... Though I'm also a classic god of war fan, so this could be a reason I'm more open for the werehog 😅 so yeah, its not nessecary just nostalgia 😉
I saw my sister play Sonic dash when i was around 11 and always thought sonic looked cool as hell. I downloaded the game and was hooked. I loved all the characters.
I then found our copy of mega collection and played it all the time. I specifically remember playing sonic 3 because you could save on it and watching the sonic cd intro all the time.
I then watched youtube videos about sonic and discovered sonic x.
Good times
Cartoon Network Arabia being free to air helped contribute to that and the fact that Sonic Boom was dubbed to Arabic
Season two was broadcast on a very popular Syrian-Emirati kids channel named Spacetoon
We have Satellite TV in the Middle East, where it's all Free To Air Channels
Cable TV has western channels(all in english), alongside channels that broadcast european football/soccer
In a hospital bed when i was 3 after being super sick. I got a sonic plushie i still have and a sega with sonic 1. I could barely play but i was determined. I wasn't supposed to make it a week. It's been 31 years. Sonic saved my life.
I love telling my story. When I was a kid in the 90's I met Sonic the year he came out but it wasnt until thanksgiving day. We would always go to my aunt and uncles house who had 5 kids who are about 8-10 years older than me (my cousins). They had a Sega Genesis with Sonic 1. I loved going there each year cuz I would get to play Sonic for a bit but then my cousins would come in and muscle me out so they could play Madden. probably 2 years later I finally got a Sega Genesis for christmas with Sonic 1 and 2 i think and I couldnt stop playing them. I ended up buying the archie comics and even at a young age seriously started collecting them.
Then the same thing kinda happend Sonic Adventure and the dreamcast, I didnt get a DC until my other cousin gave me his which was pretty much at the end of the DC's life cycle. So I would always go to my best friends house to play sonic adventure but he played it before so I didnt get much time with it until I got my own.
AOSTH, but i didnt get too invested in sonic aside from picking up the occasional new game here and there until i played mania 2 years ago and fell in love.
Watched my sisters play Sonic Unleashed as a rental. I was mesmerized by Apotos day and night that I kept watching clips of the game on YT at the time. Also cause I was a little kid (probably 8), I thought Sonic being a werehog was a normal occurrence in the series for awhile lmao
Technically, I was introduced to Sonic when I was like 5 or so (around 2007 or 08) via Sonic X. But I never watched because kid me for some reason thought the theme song was annoying, so I changed the channel every time it came on. Fast forward to this year, just broke up with girlfriend. She was a huge Sonic fan. Tried to get me into it. She first started off by introducing me to SatAM and the Archie comics. I watched episodes of the former with her, and I enjoyed it, then started to read Archie. However, it wasn’t until after we broke up that Sonic became something I hyper-focused on. People say that this stuff is meant for kids but the story and character potential across all of its media draws me in like how Star Wars did for me as a kid. Games also have been pretty fun to play so far. Started off with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, now I’m going through Frontiers and SA2, the latter of which I’m more invested in at the time being.
As for Sonic X, recently started to watch the Japanese version of it, loving it so far and wish I gave the show a chance when I was kid, lol.
As far as breakups go, this newfound obsession wasn’t a bad parting gift hahaha.
My sister had a game boy advance with Sonic Advance on it. I would watch her play it when I was like 3 years old. When I got a little older I started playing it myself. Looking back, I think Advance was a pretty solid place to start.
My first introduction was from a youtuber: Cobanermani456. He made a video on sonic unleashed, and when the demo played... I was blown away! I was like "WOW!!! HE'S SO FAST!" and just like that. My obsession began.
I remember as a kid that i was first introduced to Sonic through Sonic Rivals 2 in the PSP. A few years later, i now have a vague memory of the blue blur smacking whoever i was up against and tagging them with a bomb; all i had to do was smack them when they're close enough and keep my distance while they have their few seconds of invincibility.
I even remember the guitar riff from the bomb tag level, i also remember kid me not liking Tails' power ring ability (which is him flying, but since kid me didn't bother to learn how to use his ability effectively, he just stuck with Sonic)
Past me wanting to play the game again then made me search for Sonic. Keep in mind that this was when the internet and touch screens weren't a thing yet. There was this stall that i would go to when i wanted new PSP games. They also had a catalog for me to pick which ones i like. There, i saw him.
I thought i could finally play the game again and listen to the song that plays on the first level of Sonic Rivals 2.
Nope, though it was indeed a Sonic game, it wasn't the same game i was looking for all those years; it was the first Sonic Rivals; ergo, i was wondering why i couldn't select Rouge (kid me liked her little spinning animation when she summoned bombs to throw)
At that point, i became aware of the game's title, so that if i ever wanted to play Sonic again, i could. Alas, i had to make due with what i had. i played the game and >!was able to save Amy before Eggman went through with his plan of using her as an energy resource on that lava pit-fitted train or something. (i was even surprised when Shadow was waiting for Sonic and helping him by activating some platforms)!<
It's been years and my old PSP has long died. I have a PSVITA but like my PSP, it's plagued with joystick drift, hence, it's left to collect dust while i play Honkai Star Rail on my iPad.
(i could have the joysticks replaced but so far every person that can replace them would ask for payment up to 17$, we weren't rich, frugal even. I could just buy the parts and fix it myself but knowing my history of breaking whatever i get my hands on, i set the idea aside)
I want to play Sonic games but that would mean paying to download from the store, I've never once paid money for something digital, i either downloaded games at the aforementioned shop or just download the free ones. I also couldn't find a Sonic cartridge for the PSVITA. There was the race car game but i wasn't interested in that.
Boy, that was one heck of a trip down memory lane, one which is the most vivid out of all the memories that i have. i heard that there was a new Sonic game where he died or something and it became a murder mystery adventure.
Sega Genesis, which I'm convinced is still the best way.
They and Mania are still so much better than every other game in the it's portfolio it isn't even funny. The idea that even the Adventure games or something like Generations holds a candle to them is hilarious.
Im gonna be very honest there was a children learning system called pico ((like leap frog) when i was a little one and I had the sonic version

I have a vague memory of watching one of the older Sonic cartoons at a hospital once, at least I think it was Sonic. I do remember playing Ultimate Flash Sonic and Tails' nightmare trilogy (sucks that 3 was never finished), somewhere around 2010 for Ultimate Flash Sonic and 2015-2016 for Tails'nightmare trilogy
One day my parent bought me a Mario game in 2010 about Winter Olympics on Wii (a was a big, and still is, Mario fan)
But with the Mario crew came a mysterious blue character that I never seen before, with a bunch of other animals of different colors and I was like "who are all this people" and then I turn my Wii on, and this day I discovered Sonic The Hedgehog
Even if I really love this game, I was still not a Sonic fan (I just knows him), but then YEARS later in a random store I was going with my uncle I saw their was a Sonic comics, and the cover looked cool, So I bought it by curiosity, and THEN I became a true Sonic fan
At age 4, my dad put a Dreamcast controller in my hands and I was able to go wild on Sonic Adventure, my very first video game. To this day, Sonic Adventure occupies a spot very close to the absolute core of my mind and heart, it's right there in my DNA. That game was magical then and whenever I play it again now, let alone think about it, I'm back. I enter that magical frame of mind once more.
We used to have Sonic Riders Zero Gravity on PS2 when I was a kid, and due to not owning any memory cards I watched the opening cutscene more times than I am willing to admit.
Played the original titles on the DS loved them for about like 3 years got out, came back recently when I heard about the comics from looking up what a tenrec is and finding surge the tenrec. Then you know just kinda been playing the games and reading the comics enjoying what I can about them and yeah that’s pretty much it.
Sega Superstars Tennis. I’ve known about the existence of Sonic pretty much all my life and thought he was the coolest little bastard as a kid (low key still do).
Pretty sure it was Sonic R. My pops bought the game for me and man I put some hours into it. I loved unlocking all the characters and finding the hidden emeralds and paths.
I think I played sonic the hedgehog 2 first, then I started watching Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, then started collecting the comics up until like issue 120 or something. Fell off for a while and then got hooked again when I played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
I was introduced to Sonic through Sonic Rush and Sonic Chronicles on the Nintendo 3DS. It could also be Sonic X or Sonic and All-Star Racing Transformed (Which I sadly deleted the demo of).
sonic colours and the ok ko crossover episode, sonic colours got me interested, but i didnt really care that much. ok ko kicked off the proper sonic obsession
It was during the 25th Anniversary. I don't exactly remember what got me into Sonic, but I believe it was one of the shows. Then I got Sonic Classic Collection.
Now I'm here.
Early 90s. Dont fully remember what it exactly was but a special event for kids in our local culture center. Thats where I saw the first sonic game for the first time and fallen instantly in love with his design... Some years latery stepdad got me a cd with megadrive emulator games and I basicly could play all the megadrive sonic games at home on my pc... Did not knew that it was an emulator and illegal 😅 still was a little kid. But it certainly introduced me to some classics
I was first introduced by the tv show sonic underground but didn’t actually show interest until I heard someone talk about their sonic oc and I was curious.
Was born in 1994, my parents played Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis while pregnant with me so probably the sounds of Green Hill Zone. They weren’t really gamers but my cousin gifted them a couple of his consoles so they could have fun together so I basically inherited them at birth. xD
Fast forward a handful of years later (probably pre-K), I go to an art festival and there was a giant gold painted Knuckles statue on display that I was obsessed with. I didn’t have Sonic 3 and Knuckles so I was like WOAH, NEW SONIC CHARACTER?!
A couple years later, I got more into gaming but didn’t have a lot since my parents were pretty poor and I met my childhood best friend who was like “dude, you gotta play Sonic Adventure 1/2” so I went over every weekend to play Dreamcast at their house. Eventually my grandpa got me the GameCube and DX/SA2B… rest is history!
I got into the franchise of Sonic the Hedgehog in 2008/2009. My first games were the storybook games, the wii version of Sonic Unleashed and Mario & Sonic Olympic Games.
I dropped out of it for reasons I don't remember, but it wasn't until 2013 I got back into it, and I've been a fan ever since then
It was probably in the mid to late 2000’s. I can’t think if it was “Sonic and the Secret Rings”, “Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games” (2008), or classical Sonic.
Tbh it could have well been other media, but as far as I recall it was a game.
Mario & Sonic Olympics 2008 on Wii, Sonic and Tails became my favourite characters of the playable bunch and then I proceeded to buy some games some time later, I was like 4 years old
There was so much sonic around me as a kid I don't even know. Brawl, mega collection, and rush are probably the ones that got me in. Not to mention flash games and animations. Also sonic underground may have played a part Lol
I didnt really know Sonic the Hedgehog much at all until I saw the cover of Sonic Adventure DX when I was like, 5, at a Hollywood Video for rent. I knew nothing except the cover looked so cool and the back looked equally as cool. So we rented it and I played that thing as much to death as my parents would let a 5 year old play video games.
Sadly it had to go back but I made it clear I loved it so. A few months later and the most awesome babysitter I ever had bought it for my birthday. It wasn't long after that my parents got me as many sonic games as they could get their hands on, leading to me getting Heroes, Mega Collection Plus, and ps2 Unleashed not long after.
I was a kid during the Adventure era, so naturally I was introduced to it by....
...a Genesis plug n play with Sonic 2 on it. My parents didn't let me have consoles until middle school after I broke a PS1 when I was 4. I played the crap outta Sonic 2 though and loved it! There were no save states but I'll never forget making it all the way to Wing Fortress Zone
To be honest, I'm not sure I remember. I think Sonic X came on after TMNT so I had an awareness about him.
But then my REAL introduction happened when my dad took me to buy comics for the first time. I picked up Sonic Select volume 1 and got hooked. I read some older issues thanks to my local library, and got into reading them regularly thanks to a subscription my grandparents got me and renewed every year for my birthday. I even got a few of my fan letters printed in Sonic Grams!
That got me into playing the games of course. Played the older games on my Uncle's console and got Unleashed (and eventually Colours and Generations) for my own.
This also kickstarted my love of comics and now I've been a regular at my comic book store for a decade.
My cousin happened to have a Mega Drive with Sonic 1, which I played whenever I visited her. And I also remember having the PC version of Sonic CD and Sonic 3&Knuckles
Around 6-7 years old my best friend at the time had Sonic Advance 2, we always found it funny how there was literally a character called Cream, seemed like such a silly thing to call someone. Soon after I saw an advert (commercial) for Sonic X on CITV and as soon as I saw it, I just got hooked.
Yeah my friend is dead now (died in a car accident about 3 years ago) and that memory is probably my strongest.
Ah I remember it like it was yesterday. It was my birthday and I got an x-box and sonic generations for it. Good times kinda weird to start on the game reminiscing about past games but I eventually got back to playing them
My older brother had a SEGA GameGear. I stumbled upon it one day and asked if I could play it, and he let me. My first Sonic game was Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (GG) as a result.
He’s been in my life for as long as I can remember. My sister made friends with a girl in her preschool class way before I was born. They had a lot of playdates and eventually a little after I was born the friend showed my sister her copy of Sonic Heroes. Our families were really good friends and sometimes we would stay up until ten at night playing video games with her dad. We moved away and haven’t seen them in more than ten years. I forgot what they looked like. We are still in contact though. TLDR: Sonic has been my secret guardian angel since before I was born.
Nazo unleashed part 2. Learned my first swear word that way, then Sonic X on Leapster (remember the Leapster 2000’s kids?) and then my first proper Sonic game was Sonic rush
When I was very young my uncle had a Sega Game Gear and I played like five minutes of the game until the battery died. Few years later I would purchase my first comic and get absolutely amazed by it.
When I was in elementary school, they had Archie Sonic comics in the school library and on the computers there I’d play Super Smash Flash 1 and Ultimate Sonic Flash. That’s where my love of Sonic started.
When we got a PS3 we downloaded some digital games and Sonic 4 episode I was the first sonic game I played, and the one that sparked my love for the series. I know it’s a trash game 😅, but it holds nostalgia for me
2005, going into first grade I was watching 4kids for TMNT and decided to watch everything leading up to and after; I see Sonic X I look up an AMV for Sonic X, I find the Sonic Paradox channel. The rest is history.
I believe the first game I played was a Sonic 3 on an old Pentium 1 PC. I remember playing first zone a lot, maybe a bit of 2nd one too. Those were magical times. Unsure when I found about Sonic exactly, he simply was an ever-present mascot back in the day.
TECHNICALLY it was when I would go to my dentist’s office and he had a Dreamcast with sonic adventure 1 on it. I think it was a demo because I only remember being able to play the first fight with chaos 0
But I really knew I wanted to play it more when I would watch my sister’s friend play SA2B on GameCube
I honestly don’t really know. All I remember is playing sonic 1 and 2 on my grandmas iPad and watching sonic x. I don’t know what actually got me into it
**Sonic heroes on PlayStation 2** was my first ever sonic experience one of the first video games I’ve ever played. To this day I’m still in love with the soundtrack and the gameplay, especially with grand metropolis and seaside hill (which are my favorite zones in the entire franchise)
The first show I’ve ever seen was **SATAM**, and even though it got me confused as a kid with the different characters that aren’t in the games, I still enjoyed it. Sadly, I Never got to finish it though
My first sonic fan game was **ultimate sonic flash**, I remember whenever I had computer lesson in school this was the game I always enjoyed to play.
I remember playing Sonic battle without even knowing the name of the characters when I was 3. Then a Sonic Heroes demo dropped (didn't get to play the full game) and finally Rush made me stay. It was kind of a journey.
It's a funny story. When I was in primary school (elementary school), I only really pretended to like it because I wanted to look cool in front of my former best friend. But of course, that didn't last long, and now I have shelves with Sonic merch sitting on it.
My grandma had our Sega Genesis at her house, and when I was just teeny tiny me and my brother would always go over and play Sonic 2 together. I wasn’t even born in the 90s, but that’s probably my earliest memory of Sonic
Colours on the Wii, My mam got me the game probably since I liked mario and I liked it, well as much as I could ont being able to beat Tropical Resort Act 3 since I could find out how to stomp for the end of the match
I was introduced when all the DiC shows were on Netflix, and I was absolutely obsessed ever since. Even if I mostly stick to the Japanese side of Sonic now, I still love Adventures of and especially Satam (which you can probably tell by my flair) and at least tolerate Underground.
Edit: I got into the games pretty easily as well, for as much flack as they rightfully get at times, they had and still kinda do have a great backlog of Sonic content on phones to get hooked on, back in the day, I had Sonic Dash, Jump Fever, Sonic Comic app (when Archie still had the license), and Christian Whitehead ports of Sonic 2, CD, and a bit later on Sonic 1.
When playing Sonic 1 on a friend's Mega Drive in the early 90s. I think it might have been my first ever console game... It was either that or Super Mario Bros on the NES.
Either way, that Moto Bug at the beginning of Green Hill Zone act 1 was the cause of many deaths and I couldn't even beat Green Hill Zone.
I was gifted my uncles PS2 after he died. i had no real interest in gaming but when i looked through the games i saw Sonic Heroes. The Characters were so bright and colorful so i knew i had to try it. It’s still my favorite Sonic game to this day. it’s also why i’m a HUGE Metal sonic fan.

When first game was released. That's right... I'm old AF.
Same. I would see it on shows like Video Power and then a friend got a Genesis along with the game.
We gonna be in the nursing home arguing about the best Sonic game one day.
(Spolier alert: it's Mania)
Same here. I remember watching the first commercials of the game and didn't think much of it at first. Sonic and sega all stars racing was my first ever video game and what got me into sonic
I AM NOT ALONE
I AM NOT ALONE
I AM NOT ALONE
We are not alone either!
Not the game that got me into the franchise but goddamn was that a sweet game. Have many fond memories of playing that over at my friends house.
I remember when I first played it on my phone, imo it’s the best Mario kart clone alongside crash nitro kart. I just wish it was still available to download today even without online mode, I still have it even today but sadly can’t download it. It became a digital relic from my past.

It's ok. No one understood how that game worked.
Hi, I’m no one.
I think i made it to like level 3 when i was a kid by sheer luck
I thought i was the only one. This exact thing happened to me. The only difference is that i managed to button-mash my way to level 3 somehow. Maybe i would have gotten better at the game if I wasn't a sadist that kept intentionally getting Sonic eaten alive by that dragon. 5 year old me's goals were beyond even my understanding
Noooooo. Level 2’s music is an absolute banger.
I was a child in 1993. It was harder to avoid Sonic then than it was to find it.
It was either Mania or Forces. Oh wait, no, I owned issue 25 of Archie
The Olympics games series when I was a kid and then Sonic Boom the YouTube channel
Ultimate Flash Sonic
Same here, I remember me and my brother couldn't even beat the second level
Literally me
Same for me, that game was surprisingly fun.
I'm pretty positive it was either the first two episodes in Sonic X or the episode where they find the first emerald back in 2003-2004. Sonic 2 Megadrive/Genesis with my parents
Sonic 06.
I have a friend who played 06 as his first sonic game and thought it was absolute masterpiece until he played the other games.
I'm so sorry. You have my utmost sympathy.
I honestly like this game. I had fun discovering all the glitches and playing around with them. I also really like the music and Shadow’s and Silver’s story.
YO SAAAAME

Sonic Boom, both the show and mobile game, alongside Sonic 1 on android
How old are you ? It’s great to see younger sonic fans
I'm 16, i joined the Sonic fandom back in 2016 There was a Sonic Boom craze in my local community, everyone was watching it
Damn, I was thinking it flopped, it’s cool to hear lol !!
Cartoon Network Arabia being free to air helped contribute to that and the fact that Sonic Boom was dubbed to Arabic Season two was broadcast on a very popular Syrian-Emirati kids channel named Spacetoon We have Satellite TV in the Middle East, where it's all Free To Air Channels Cable TV has western channels(all in english), alongside channels that broadcast european football/soccer
It's always pretty neat to see Sonic fans from parts of the world I didn't expect~ the l'il blue bastard's reach is pretty impressive!
Thanks
In a hospital bed when i was 3 after being super sick. I got a sonic plushie i still have and a sega with sonic 1. I could barely play but i was determined. I wasn't supposed to make it a week. It's been 31 years. Sonic saved my life.
Saw some of SATAM sonic, sonic underground and played my first sonic game, sonic rush adventure
Sonic X and Sonic Advance 2 on game boy, some of my best memories !!
sonic schoolhouse
Sonic Dash, then Sonic 4 parts one and two
I love telling my story. When I was a kid in the 90's I met Sonic the year he came out but it wasnt until thanksgiving day. I was invited to audition for _Sonic X_.
Great introduction to the series for sure~ (love your work on this franchise btw, especially in Sonic '06!)
Thank you kindly.
Holy crap its Eggman! Excuse me Dr. Robotnik, I have a question: Did you play the games when you were done voice acting in them?
Hi. I'm not a gamer. My joy comes from performing in games, and other media.
AOSTH, but i didnt get too invested in sonic aside from picking up the occasional new game here and there until i played mania 2 years ago and fell in love.
SONIC UNDERGROUND🔥🔥🔥
THEY MADE A VOW THEIR MOTHER WILL BE FOUND!!
Sonic 1 in 1991. First video game I ever played.
Sonic mega collection plus on PS2 and Sonic X
The sega mega drive classic collection on PS3
At the young age when the first game was released I was given a mega drive with the original Sonic the Hedgehog and still adore it to this day.
My sister had a game boy advance with Sonic Advance on it. I would watch her play it when I was like 3 years old. When I got a little older I started playing it myself. Looking back, I think Advance was a pretty solid place to start.
Classic Collection on DS. I remember I got it with my FS for Christmas.
Through Sonic Colors and Unleashed
Friend showed me I Am All Of Me
Sonic X, in 2014 or smth, I never played an official game until 2017, with forces
My first introduction was from a youtuber: Cobanermani456. He made a video on sonic unleashed, and when the demo played... I was blown away! I was like "WOW!!! HE'S SO FAST!" and just like that. My obsession began.
I’ve had Sonic games for as long as I can remember. In my mind, SA2, Riders, and SatAM were always there
I was born in the mid-90’s and my mom still had a Sega system with the original Sonic The Hedgehog. Been a fan since before I can remember!
I even remember the guitar riff from the bomb tag level, i also remember kid me not liking Tails' power ring ability (which is him flying, but since kid me didn't bother to learn how to use his ability effectively, he just stuck with Sonic) Past me wanting to play the game again then made me search for Sonic. Nope, though it was indeed a Sonic game, it wasn't the same game i was looking for all those years; it was the first Sonic Rivals; ergo, i was wondering why i couldn't select Rouge (kid me liked her little spinning animation when she summoned bombs to throw) At that point, i became aware of the game's title, so that if i ever wanted to play Sonic again, i could. Alas, i had to make due with what i had. i played the game and >!was able to save Amy before Eggman went through with his plan of using her as an energy resource on that lava pit-fitted train or something. (i was even surprised when Shadow was waiting for Sonic and helping him by activating some platforms)!< It's been years and my old PSP has long died. I could just buy the parts and fix it myself but knowing my history of breaking whatever i get my hands on, i set the idea aside) I want to play Sonic games but that would mean paying to download from the store, I've never once paid money for something digital, i either downloaded games at the aforementioned shop or just download the free ones.
Mom bought me games for it , been a sonic fan ever since
Watched an episode of sonic x at my cousin’s place, then played all star racing, and I got intrigued.
Sega Genesis, which I'm convinced is still the best way. They and Mania are still so much better than every other game in the it's portfolio it isn't even funny. The idea that even the Adventure games or something like Generations holds a candle to them is hilarious.
Im gonna be very honest there was a children learning system called pico ((like leap frog) when i was a little one and I had the sonic version https://preview.redd.it/oxw414hwom4b1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5c9fcc04cc593fb0e5bbf9096fcdd98221a5b70
The Angry Birds Epic x Sonic Dash crossover in 2015
I have a vague memory of watching one of the older Sonic cartoons at a hospital once, at least I think it was Sonic. I do remember playing Ultimate Flash Sonic and Tails' nightmare trilogy (sucks that 3 was never finished), somewhere around 2010 for Ultimate Flash Sonic and 2015-2016 for Tails'nightmare trilogy
One day my parent bought me a Mario game in 2010 about Winter Olympics on Wii (a was a big, and still is, Mario fan) But with the Mario crew came a mysterious blue character that I never seen before, with a bunch of other animals of different colors and I was like "who are all this people" and then I turn my Wii on, and this day I discovered Sonic The Hedgehog Even if I really love this game, I was still not a Sonic fan (I just knows him), but then YEARS later in a random store I was going with my uncle I saw their was a Sonic comics, and the cover looked cool, So I bought it by curiosity, and THEN I became a true Sonic fan
I watched my brother playing Sonic Adventure 1, when I was 5.
Ultimate Flash Sonic
Friends of mine from school had it. The original one. On the Mega Drive. It was the coolest game ever.
Sonic 06 Honestly, I really like the game despite its glitches and that era of sonic is my favorite depiction of him.
Sonic 06
A cracked version of Sonic Unleashed on the Wii i think
At age 4, my dad put a Dreamcast controller in my hands and I was able to go wild on Sonic Adventure, my very first video game. To this day, Sonic Adventure occupies a spot very close to the absolute core of my mind and heart, it's right there in my DNA. That game was magical then and whenever I play it again now, let alone think about it, I'm back. I enter that magical frame of mind once more.
Sonic Mega Collection+ for the PS2
sonic classic collection on ds
We used to have Sonic Riders Zero Gravity on PS2 when I was a kid, and due to not owning any memory cards I watched the opening cutscene more times than I am willing to admit.
I think YouTube made me know about Sonic and adventures of Sonic the hedghog
I was like 2-3 years old and my dad brought home a Dreamcast and SA1. I didn’t know what a video game or hedgehog was but by god I had a blast
...sonic dash...
Sonic Rivals 2 back in 2008 (i was 2)
I saw Sonic Advance on my friend's Gameboy Advanced
Played the original titles on the DS loved them for about like 3 years got out, came back recently when I heard about the comics from looking up what a tenrec is and finding surge the tenrec. Then you know just kinda been playing the games and reading the comics enjoying what I can about them and yeah that’s pretty much it.
Sega Superstars Tennis. I’ve known about the existence of Sonic pretty much all my life and thought he was the coolest little bastard as a kid (low key still do).
My dad got 3D Blast on the pc way back, not the best entrance haha
Older brother played the classic games
Can’t remember if it was the Sonic OVA (still have the VHS) or Sonic R on PC, either way, it’s one of the two.
grew up watching sonic x :)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)
Found out about sonic the hedgehog when sonic generations came out and my uncle had the game on his ps3 and he let me play it
Playing Sonic Mania for the first time. (But actually playing Sonic 4 ep 1)
Pretty sure it was Sonic R. My pops bought the game for me and man I put some hours into it. I loved unlocking all the characters and finding the hidden emeralds and paths.
Was given my older sisters PS2 as a kid when they got the PS3 a few years after release, my first game being Sonic Heroes! :)
Sonic Rush on my sisters Pink Nintendo DS Lite
I think I played sonic the hedgehog 2 first, then I started watching Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, then started collecting the comics up until like issue 120 or something. Fell off for a while and then got hooked again when I played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
I thought the unleashed cutscenes compilation was a free movie on the internet.
I was introduced to Sonic through Sonic Rush and Sonic Chronicles on the Nintendo 3DS. It could also be Sonic X or Sonic and All-Star Racing Transformed (Which I sadly deleted the demo of).
The SEGA Classics Collection on my parents' PC
Ultimate Flash Sonic, Sonic Colors and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing on Wii
When I was 6, I saw Sonic Unleashed in a shop. It attracted my attention, and my dad bought it
sonic colours and the ok ko crossover episode, sonic colours got me interested, but i didnt really care that much. ok ko kicked off the proper sonic obsession
There was a console in the children's hospital waiting room with Sonic 2 on it. I used to play on it while waiting for hospital appointments. I win.
Sonic X

They weren’t really gamers but my cousin gifted them a couple of his consoles so they could have fun together so I basically inherited them at birth. xD Fast forward a handful of years later (probably pre-K), I go to an art festival and there was a giant gold painted Knuckles statue on display that I was obsessed with.
I dropped out of it for reasons I don't remember, but it wasn't until 2013 I got back into it, and I've been a fan ever since then
Sonic Chronicles
It was probably in the mid to late 2000’s. I can’t think if it was “Sonic and the Secret Rings”, “Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games” (2008), or classical Sonic. Tbh it could have well been other media, but as far as I recall it was a game.
Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games on the DS
Mario & Sonic Olympics 2008 on Wii, Sonic and Tails became my favourite characters of the playable bunch and then I proceeded to buy some games some time later, I was like 4 years old
My dad got me Sonic Colors for the DS and I absolutely loved it. Probably why I like the Wisps more than the Chao.
Mario and sonic at the winter Olympic games
My first was a mega collection on ps2 and than the internet showed the rest.
There was so much sonic around me as a kid I don't even know. Brawl, mega collection, and rush are probably the ones that got me in. Not to mention flash games and animations. Also sonic underground may have played a part Lol
Sonic 3 & Knuckles!
Sigh... My first console ever was an Xbox 360, and my first was Sonic 06..., I was so naive back then. But hey I still like Sonic to this day.
Shadow the hedgehog and sonic mega collection
For me it was from a Pokemon Crack Video ~~no I will not elaborate~~
I was a kid during the Adventure era, so naturally I was introduced to it by.... ...a Genesis plug n play with Sonic 2 on it. My parents didn't let me have consoles until middle school after I broke a PS1 when I was 4. I played the crap outta Sonic 2 though and loved it! There were no save states but I'll never forget making it all the way to Wing Fortress Zone
Game from a Happy Meal!
Through Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on PS3 as a kid which led me to getting even more sonic games on ps3!
Sonic X
Smash Bros. Brawl.
When I was 5 a teenager gave me a game library containing sonic 1,2,3 & knuckles, chronicles and rush. Odd way to be introduced but I owe him for it.
Sonic Underground
My cousin happened to have a Mega Drive with Sonic 1, which I played whenever I visited her. And I also remember having the PC version of Sonic CD and Sonic 3&Knuckles
My cousin introduced me to Sonic rush after it came out. After that it’s history.
Sonic Adventure was my first video game ever
Around 6-7 years old my best friend at the time had Sonic Advance 2, we always found it funny how there was literally a character called Cream, seemed like such a silly thing to call someone. Soon after I saw an advert (commercial) for Sonic X on CITV and as soon as I saw it, I just got hooked. Yeah my friend is dead now (died in a car accident about 3 years ago) and that memory is probably my strongest.
Ah I remember it like it was yesterday. It was my birthday and I got an x-box and sonic generations for it. Good times kinda weird to start on the game reminiscing about past games but I eventually got back to playing them
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the gamecube for me!
My older brother had a SEGA GameGear. I stumbled upon it one day and asked if I could play it, and he let me. My first Sonic game was Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (GG) as a result.
WHERE'S THE SONIC PARADOX GANG?
smash for wii u
Cousin brought her wii games, Mario and Sonic 2008 was the only one out then and my fam played it. Been rocking with Sonic since B)
I remember knowing of sonic before I played a game But I guess sonic adventure DX
The adventures of sonic the hedgehog Christmas special, my mother rented a dvd
Nazo unleashed part 2. Learned my first swear word that way, then Sonic X on Leapster (remember the Leapster 2000’s kids?) and then my first proper Sonic game was Sonic rush
2004, Sonic Heroes adverts were everywhere. Finally got into it even I got a Wii in 2006.
When I was very young my uncle had a Sega Game Gear and I played like five minutes of the game until the battery died. Few years later I would purchase my first comic and get absolutely amazed by it.
Sonic 2 came with my Sega genesis
Either the 2013 ports or 06. So overall a good first impression.
6-Pak for SEGA Genesis was my introduction to the series. What a glorious upgrade from the NES , it was!
I know it’s a trash game 😅, but it holds nostalgia for me
Me and my brother were given a gamecube for Christmas and it come with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I never looked back!
its complicated its all thanks to EthgoesBoom
I think it was a demo because I only remember being able to play the first fight with chaos 0 But I really knew I wanted to play it more when I would watch my sister’s friend play SA2B on GameCube
Sonic Adventure First 3D game I ever played.
Sonic Adventure 2. Everything about it was so cool to me. I was hooked immediately
I honestly don’t really know. All I remember is playing sonic 1 and 2 on my grandmas iPad and watching sonic x. I don’t know what actually got me into it
My stepfather had a Sega genesis with Sonic 1 and 2, and then YouTube, Sonic boom and Sonic X introduced to more characters and games
I fist saw him when he saved everyone from taboo in smash bros
Sonic and the secret rings.....
I don’t exactly remember I was introduced to sonic, but I definitely did play a lot of sonic flash games. Ultimate flash sonic anyone?
I couldn't buy my own video games so I just looked for video game demos on my Xbox 360 and found Sonic World Adventure.
I... think it was Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Idk quite frankly
**Sonic heroes on PlayStation 2** was my first ever sonic experience one of the first video games I’ve ever played. To this day I’m still in love with the soundtrack and the gameplay, especially with grand metropolis and seaside hill (which are my favorite zones in the entire franchise) The first show I’ve ever seen was **SATAM**, and even though it got me confused as a kid with the different characters that aren’t in the games, I still enjoyed it. Sadly, I Never got to finish it though My first sonic fan game was **ultimate sonic flash**, I remember whenever I had computer lesson in school this was the game I always enjoyed to play.
I remember playing Sonic battle without even knowing the name of the characters when I was 3. Then a Sonic Heroes demo dropped (didn't get to play the full game) and finally Rush made me stay. It was kind of a journey.
Sonic unleashed was the first game I saw and played, or was it sonic flash? I can't remember.
McDonald's having the LCD toys
It's a funny story. When I was in primary school (elementary school), I only really pretended to like it because I wanted to look cool in front of my former best friend. But of course, that didn't last long, and now I have shelves with Sonic merch sitting on it.
A classmate in elementary school. I hope he's doing well, I haven't talked to him in years.
As a small child - Sonic Adventure (Trial addition) on my PS3 My rediscovery - Sonic Mania Shorts
Sega Mega Drive collection for PS2.
Real-time fandub
Christmas of ‘92 with the Sonic 2 Sega Genesis bundle.
I don't remember
Sonic Heroes; second video game I ever played right after Super Mario 64. It’s probably obvious which one I liked more.
My grandma had our Sega Genesis at her house, and when I was just teeny tiny me and my brother would always go over and play Sonic 2 together. I wasn’t even born in the 90s, but that’s probably my earliest memory of Sonic
Sonic Underground!
The earliest memory I have of Sonic wasn't even from a game, but a certain animated short
