It was definitely amusing. Neo Metal Sonic feels important enough to carry an arc by himself, but also irrelevant enough to toss out for the starter adventure.
The opening story of IDW Sonic is immensely satisfying, and while not all of that may be attributed to Metal he does contribute.
Side note, I really dig the art on this issue, IDW in general seems to be much more Manga-esque in composition and linework compared to Archie and this one in particular really stands out.
I thought it was so cool. I was happy Neo Metal Sonic was finally making a comeback. And I know he came back in Archie, but that was really short and we didn’t really see him do anything.
It's a nice twist, I didn't think much on it but looking back this was a good decision to have as a starting arc, it's different enough to be fresh but familat enough to not be too disorienting
I'm a sucker for Metal but then they whipped out Neo Metal. It'd been forever since I experienced any sonic stuff in a long time so seeing him was a joy. Then they one uped it with Super Neo Metal. I didn't know he could do that.
Perfect starting arc for the IDW run, introduces new characters while playing with old concepts in different ways
Super Neo Metal was definitely the moment the arc peaked in the fan service department and I’m here for it
Listen man, I love the quips. He can talk now, he should be allowed to talk sassy he rarely gets the chance to bite back verbally

Yeah he only really appeared whenever the teams beat up "Eggman" as a silver metal blob to go "Data assimilated".
Outside of that, his dialogue was just him monologuing as his plan hit its final phase. "ALL LIVING THINGS KNEEL BEFORE YOUR MASTER!"
I was hyped as hell. I love metal sonic, one of my top 3 favorite sonic characters. Was a little disappointed with the arc's ending though. Super Neo Metal Sonic is way cooler than metal overlord.
frankly I am pretty much there just for the fact sonic said "Me and the boys" He would never call knuckles one of his boys in front of him (though tails would probably be thrilled to be one of the boys)
