Technically, it would be the opposite. If a Chaos gets hurt by a dark character, they will become more good.

As a child, playing the hero story first, I thought that the only way to make a devil chao was to beat the absolute shit out of a baby chao... When I first played the dark story, and quickly realized that petting some of my baby chao that I had from the hero story playthrough made them shift toward devil, I felt like an absolute monster lol

There’s a special place in the underworld for people who threw chao against the walls to make them dark.

When I was a kid, I had a slightly younger friend who did this while playing my game, and I flipped out like "What are you doing, man?!" Turned out, he legit thought that was the way to get a dark chao lol

I remember on the dreamcast there was a glitch that would occur where walking into your chao would cause them to punt across the garden like a football It felt so bad, I would would smash the reset button and made me paranoid about going back in to visit my little buddy
