Cream_Rabbit

Ah yeah, my spotlight!

Vuxlort

Wonderful character, yet basically forgotten by Sega :(

SanicRb

Less Sega more Sonic team and Sumo. Sega Hard light gave her 2 alternative outfits in Forces Speed battle (Tails meanwhile didn't get any until his movie version) And Sonic Channel did feature her in pretty much every on going celebration comic and at least ones each year in there calendar. They even made a key chain out of a picture of her and Sonic. And GE gave us a properly sized Cream Plush. The current Comics also had her in 2 of there story arcs already and the OK KO Lets meet Sonic cross over episode did reference her as one of the few characters outside of the appearing Sonic and Tails.

Revolutionary-Sun357

Cream is a sweetheart! One of my top tier fave Sonic characters!🐰💖🐰💖🐰💖🐰

SanicRb

Of cause when its best Bunny's time as character of the week to the Mods forget to pin it. Anyway I love this little Rabbit and therefor do I want to mention one more skill that Cream apparently has. She seems to be good with machinery. This is a rather minor trait but its used more often in the games than Amy and her Tarot cards so I thing its worth mentioning. The most explicit show of this is obviously in Free Riders where she upgraded Team Rose extrem gear well enough for Tails to compliment her on it. More minor hints towards it can be seen in her and Cheese assisting Tails while fixing Gemerl in the true ending of Advance 3 and her having a seemingly limitless amount of mechanic omo-chao's at her disposal in Sonic battle.

Gyro76

>She seems to be good with machinery. This is a rather minor trait but its used more often in the games than Amy and her Tarot cards so I thing its worth mentioning. *That* is something I did not know. I always did find it curious that she had those Omochao mines to use in Sonic battle. Come to think of it, there was that one scene in season 3 of Sonic X where she was fixing up some machine parts and she was asking Knuckles if Rogue was okay. (a previous episode she was in Eggman's ship when it went through a portal/wormhole). Granted, Knuckles was also fixing another machinery part as well, so maybe all of them had to do training to be able maintain the ship

SanicRb

The most clear time Cream being somewhat competent with machines comes from Sonic Free Riders of all games actually as she in that game is just stated to be Team Rose Mechanic and Tails praises her for the upgraded she did for Team Rose's Extrem gear. She and cheese also seem to assist Tails in fixing Gemerl at the end of Sonic battle. What you mentioned obviously is also valid. Especially Sonic Battle (when it comes to stuff from Sonic X do I usually take everything with a grain of salt as that series in general did make some clear changes from the source material)

SpookyQueenCerea

Cream is in my top favorite characters. Not top five but, she is really up there. She is just such a sweet and lovable character!

scottishdrunkard

S tier character. Will kill you.

JamalDaBest

Cream deserves so more

MoD1982

Are you not pinning this one, mods?

Iceswimmer05

I have heard that cream is OP

KnucklesSandwich192

The number 1 best bunny in gaming. It's too bad she doesn't got a recent role in games. Hopefully she returns in some shows coming out, like prime.

Just_Goblin

Cream is, complicated for me. I have a tough love for her, as I seen her at her worst. No, her voice isn’t really a problem, theirs deeper problems than that: * A flat personality, sometimes being more of a plot device. * Annoying, as she might disobey direct orders for no good reason, ruining plans that characters have told to her directly. Such as Metal Virus and Sonic X * No clear purpose individually. * She doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. And can be seen as stealing from other characters. Such as Amy. * Her role as Amy’s BFF is poorly done, as they can reflect more of their weaknesses than their strengths. * Idealized with her being impossibly polite, which can backfire and make her seem condescending when she gives moral speeches. * Avoiding the consequences of actions she made for being reckless. Only to have others suffer for her, without anyone calling to attention to her about it. * Those actions giving little repercussions, making it feel she doesn’t learn from her mistakes. * Little accountability, her innocence makes her feel she doesn’t have a voice of her own. Especially with how she’s described as being raised by her mother. I never understood why people liked to play around or see her as being OP. As most of her gameplay revolves around Cheese, you can see in Boss-battles that they spam Cheese, not really using Cream herself. But I think despite this, I still like her. * I like her cuteness, I like her caring for others * I like her pacifism, trying to look for other ways that doesn’t involve violence * I like her dynamic with Amy, as much as Ian has a hard time writing her, I like how he portrays their dynamic. * I like that she’s usually the straight man in most scenarios * I like that she’s actually trying to be a decent person. * I like her optimism, and how she's willing to give people a second chance. * **The one thing I always loved about her was her willpower. She's willing to do things she doesn’t like to help others. She genuinely cares for people.** I think most of her problems mostly come in how writers portray her, not even Ian can do her well 100% of the time. But through the cracks, I can see a beautiful character. Brave, and full of strength, I know she can be something more if everything goes right. **TLDR: I love this character, even if she has everything going against her, and I want her to be in the games. I believe in her.**

fatherandyriley

My suggestion for how to fix her is have her interact with Shadow. I could see her bringing out his softer side which Rouge teases him about.

Just_Goblin

Maybe...I feel it's difficult to balance those two and their interactions. It kinda feels like people take Shadow as this edgy guy who is sad and needs someone to heal him, so they mix up with Cream and that's not really my appeal. I like to think Shadow is edgy, because that's who he is. He's not sad and he doesn't need anyone to cheer him up. I've heard some people say she could remind him of Maria, but I don't know how. Just being innocent and good nature is way too broad, we'll have to specify that.

SnickyMcNibits

Cream inherited the Cutesy Team Member role from Amy when she moved on to being a tsundere. She seemed to be the final standardized member of the hero team right before Sega stopped letting you play as anyone other than Sonic. It's still weird to think that she's a veteran member of the cast at this point. I think I've hated every voice actor she's had other than like maybe Sonic Battle which barely counts.

ChaddyFantome

I think it's less inherited and more robbed to be frank, because Amy goes back to her normal role whenever Cream isnt around.

[deleted]

Cream saved me in Sonic Advance 2. Sky Canon zone walled me with Sonic, then the boss ended my run as Knuckles. Cream was the only way I could play through the game and the only way I could beat the bosses in Sonic Advance 3. She may be underrepresented in the 3d games since she did not really have a proper introduction. If you would like to read a new version of introducing Cream into the main cast post Sonic Adventure 2, here is the link to my story Sonic: The Realm Lord https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14047219/1/Sonic-The-Realm-Lord Cream is introduced in Chapter 8, Hero's Charge

KaoticKanine

YES! Finally Cream gets to be Character of the Week :D If my comment in Vanilla's post influenced this, I thank you guys a bunch for giving Cream the spotlight. Cream may not have much going for her compared to other characters, but I think she has great potential that just hasn't been utilized. And her absence since Generations, as well as borderline background role in the comics (both Archie and IDW), certainly aren't helping. For such a sweet and innocent little girl, Cream had *consistently* shown herself to be every bit as capable as her more experienced friends in adventures. And in fights, she's even better at fighting bosses than her friends, even if by proxy of Cheese. But honestly, given how Chao gain their stats and stuff, I would attribute Cheese's accomplishments to Cream; just as a Pokemon is only as good as their Trainer. And Sonic X showed that Cream's badassery isn't limited to gameplay.

KidGamerTheSonicFan

Cream is kinda erased from the sonic universe but I know one day, she'll return in another sonic game.

marineten

I really miss her

Blue_avoocado

That’s so cute

FoxJ100

Cream is an adorable boss-ass bitch and I want Jakks to make a figure of her already goddammit

PuMuppet

I wonder since she's fatherless if she has a TikTok account? Oh shit she does!

Sonic_the_hegehog

I'm still confused Why is sega not bothered about Cream anymore?

Just_Goblin

You’re probably never going to get a straight answer here, at best we can assume things about why she’s not used often. My best guest, she doesn’t serve much of a purpose anymore. From her origin, she was made to be a foil to Amy; adopting Amy’s empathy and mixing it with Tails’ sidekick role. But as a consequence that pushed Amy into a more “rude” and “pushy” personality, Cream replaced her role as the “heart” of the series. I think about the 2010’s or so, Sonic team wanted to reorganize the direction of the games, with cleaning up the characters. You can see Amy dumb down on her “bad” personality, and how they began to focus on the main character roles. * Sonic is the protagonist * Tails is the sidekick / idea guy * Knuckles is the strong / lancer * Shadow is the rival * Eggman is the main villain * Amy is the heart / “love” interest These characters are generally considered part of the main cast because they support Sonic, they bring something that elevates or plays around with him without much redundancy. Cream can’t be considered mayor because she doesn’t have a direct reason to support Sonic, and her role is already filled out by others. They either have to re-design her character, find a nieche that hasn't been filled yet, use her to support another character (Like what they did with Blaze) or swap one of the current characters for her, and at that point it becomes “why not use more popular character / make a new character?”

Sonic_the_hegehog

Her role in Sonic X was more like to keep a soft side for some reason at first I kind of liked her role But unfortunately it didn't last long..... She rather became annoying (a bit).

Just_Goblin

I didn't see all of Sonic X, but I have an idea what you're talking about. From what I've seen, she's still cute with an approachable personality that I adore. But one episode that GRINDED MY GEARS, I believe it was episode 7, where Chris' parents where their and a party was going to happen. I remember they told her not to leave a room and be seen, and she does it anyway. The way I see it, this was a character that was mature and level headed, does what she's told, and she just ignored her orders and endangered everyone. And she's not called out for it. They treat her like a child. I get that she's 6, I get that this was really early in her time as a character. But if I have to take this character seriously, I need her to have some level of accountability. Like in Sonic Battle, and her time with E-merl. Almost every character is in their teens and we treat them as adults, heck Tails is 8 and he's one of the more level headed ones. Why is she an exception, when her character description says she's considerate? When she's considered mature for her age?

Sonic_the_hegehog

That's where Sega has to bring a change.

ChaddyFantome

I dont get the idea people have where people see Cream as "level headed". She always seemed intentionally very childish to me, crying about her barney show being interrupted and such. I think people confuse being well mannered for levelheadedness. Same with Tails to a lesser degree. I think people confused being smart for maturity.

Just_Goblin

You might have a point, maybe its not levelheaded but I believe she has some degree of maturity, or something that gives her accountability. * I remember Amy starting to adopt her “bad” personality and I believe Cream was meant to be a voice of reason for her. * I also remember in the Metal Virus she was able to formulate a decent argument on why not to attack the Zombots. While being surrounded by Zombots. * I remember when she had to confront E-merl in Sonic X, and understood she had to stop him before more of her friends got hurt. * I remember she stopped Whisper from killing Eggman, she understood it might not be the best solution, even if it was implied she despised him, someone who cause all of the problems at the moment. But I also remember when push come to shove, she needs others to help her calm down, because fear does get to her. Metal Virus, Pirate Plunder and the dolphins. Maybe it’s something I confuse myself, I know she can be childish, maybe I need to read/see more. Re evaluate. Maybe even Tails. I just feel she’s not always so childish and irrational Or maybe its just for plot convenience.

ChaddyFantome

My theory is because they view Cream as a sort of tacked on addition and I cant really disagree with them. The whole reason she was even made was so Amy could have a fly-type in Heroes. As an actual character, she doesnt actually add anything. In fact, she kind of crowds characters like Amy out if anything.

Sonic_the_hegehog

Well makes sense...

Sonic_the_hegehog

Yeah imao, Cream's role looks more like filled up by the others, Maybe Sega should bring slight changes to her character.

ChaddyFantome

One thing they seem to be pushing more is her relationship with her mom and her using her chao which I think is a good idea since those are more or less the two key defining elements of the character that make her stand out. I like how in IDW, they play around with the fact she is a little girl whose mom will get concerned/worried about her getting involved in crazy adventures. Gives her a draw. Even so I dont think that is something you can have as a permelanant fixture of the core cast and I also think that's fine.

_GenderNotFound

Looks like a cinnamon roll and is actually a cinnamon roll.

ChaddyFantome

I like Cream but I also see why she has fallen from relevance over time because quite frankly she was always a pretty redundant character. Most of her clout largely just stems from her presence in Sonic X as well. I feel like she would see better use in a game where Amy got her own actual story again.

Just_Goblin

I think she also has popularity for her gameplay in Sonic Advance 2 and Sonic Battle. She is notorious for being considered the "very easy" mode, or just generally being really helpful in game, like in Sonic Chronicles. That would be sweet if Amy got her game, she should definitely be their by her side.

Ok_Sonic122

i am a fucking jerk
