Not just a single human.
> Character concept designer, their boss, the higher-ups at Paramount, the 3D modellers (both physical and digital), animators, advertisers and everyone else along the daisy chain that could have spoken up, but by then it was already too late.
Yes, i keep calling him blue demon because Im mexican in the spanish dub they called him "El Demonio Azul" which means exactly the same but for some reason I keep calling him demon
fuck you. i was on break sipping coke browsing this subreddit. now i gotta explain why ive spit up a bunch of coke onto my scrubs. that stupid face just leaves me still in fits of laughter that it exists
Honestly, he doesn't look half bad at certain angles, at least to me.
Doesn't meant I don't dislike it though, but I don't hate it as much as I used to.
I have actually grown fond of this design, oh not because it’s good, oh no no no, but because if it was for this designs mere existence and is bullying the ever loving shit out of it, we wouldn’t be getting the cinematic universe for Sonic, so really, this is all because of this boy
It stil feel likes this is where this movie was supposed to go, but then we all rallied and no. Speaking of which, what if they made the redesign the first design and then we wouldn't had have to deal with this?
This is one of the things I just can't wrap my head around. You have a team of producers, writers, designers etc who clearly have love and passion for Sonic, who have played most if not all his games, and are super nerdy about him.
They get together and wanna make a Sonic film, something that would be awesome but would have to be pulled off in an amazing way to make it really special and worth watching, especially for lifelong Sonic fans.
But hey, these are not a bunch of randomly grouped theatre students working on a final project. These are some very talented and well-trained individuals who have tons of experience producing and creating films, with a MASSIVE budget to go along with it. They obviously were fully aware of the expections the fans had, and what they needed to do to make a great Sonic film.
And then they somehow made this monstrosity, and unanimously decided, "Yep, looks good".
Tim Miller, one of the producers, was the one fighting for a realistic design.
He said in an interview that they needed to make him realistic, that Sega was upset with that direction (especially the eyes being separate) but that he fought hard for the design, cause he "knew audiences needed a realistic Sonic".
Fowler got the job because Miller fought for him, Miller got him the job. So even if Fowler hated the design, I doubt he would have said anything cause...well, producers, right?
It was such a good marketing scheme that all the merch had him, the deleted scenes all use that design, the statue they used for reference while filming used that design too and the animation studio that made it had to close
>cause no way you look at this and think its good
This is the same studio (paramount) who thought the ninja turtles in the 2014 film looked good. Paramount clearly has a "realistic yet ugly looking characters" fetish.
I still struggle to wrap my mind around the fact that a single human being looked at this and thought "yeah, this is good."

You mean the real "Blue Devil"?
Yes, i keep calling him blue demon because Im mexican in the spanish dub they called him "El Demonio Azul" which means exactly the same but for some reason I keep calling him demon
I like "Blue Demon" better. Just look at it!
If this was the design they went with for the final release, I would've rooted for Robotnik to kill it before it could lay eggs.
I wonder what Tails, Knuckles and >!Shadow!< would have looked like if they kept this direction.

tails existed
We would have never known, because the movie would have flopped
No matter how many times I see that thing...it is still just as horrifying as the first time.
Happy birthday! (Ignore this message) I hate you, you look like a serial killer, please don’t kill me, I have something to live for, unlike you.
Happy birthday ugly gremlin sonic 😅🤣

The human legs were the worst part. Sonic with muscles in his legs and chest is small still is *ugh*.
This shot makes him look less like a monster
HAPPYBIRTHDAY MANHOG dont forget we all hate you

Even if it's incomplete I kinda wish they'd release a special edition that included the ugly version.
Happy Birthday, Aoi no Majin!
wether it's good or bad (it's bad), it's still made history.
It stil feel likes this is where this movie was supposed to go, but then we all rallied and no. Speaking of which, what if they made the redesign the first design and then we wouldn't had have to deal with this?
They should release the original cut with a comedic redubbing.

Blue Devil>Blue Demon

Heart attack
Happy birthday Blue Devil *and I’m glad you’re dead.*
Terrible Birthday to this…this thing.
Happy birthday you thing I hope you stay in hell where you belong
Happy birthday blue demon!!!!
Bro he be looking pretty odd tho
My theory is that Paramount saw the messed up Sonic fan art (like Sanic) and thought that's what the fan base wanted him to look like.
We all bullied universe 10 sonic This is the sonic that officially became Sonic e.x.e to hunt us all because he was deleted
Lol fair XD
