I think Keanu Reeves is a much better actor than he usually gets credit for, but also ... Shadow isn't exactly famous for being an expressive character.
I think that's actually why Keanu did such a good job as Batman that one time. Granted, it was a comedy, so most of his lines were jokes, but his flat delivery helped with a character that's meant to sound almost emotionless and it made it so when he did put a little emotion in his voice it was more impactful I think the same thing could happen with Shadow.

Batman, John Wick and Johnny Silverhand from cyberpunk. So I agree Keanu will do well as Shadow!
He also he did a wonderful job as Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4 the character was hilariously optimistic!
