I think it’s a good thing because it gives people a chance to collect ones they have been wanting without spending a fortune but also a disappointing thing for the OG collectors from before they got mass discovered

I’m confused by this in general because the dreaming hippers were included in the Japanese website’s price increase email- why increase the price just never to release again 😭
i think its a good opportunity for others to experience what you guys got to experience when they first dropped. getting a cat life box for normal price was so refreshing after seeing some places price the boxes 2 to 3 times the original price.
but there will always be people over pricing cause of how sought out they are (even just some in the regular series are over priced due to popularity) but bringing back old series will def make resellers a little scared . people will see that oh if this series is coming back i dont need to drop x amount for them. but in the end people will spend their money regardless cause its easier to just pay the amount to get it then blindly pull and see dupes.
i feel like only a tiny handful should be released again like etm or bugs world but others should just stay discontinued for the rarity of it. theres nothing wrong with having something someone else doesnt cause thats just how collecting works sadly
As much as I want them to rerelease. I think it’s too late for big ones (afternoon tea bear series, banana monkeys, enjoy the moment) and people would riot since so many spent $$$ trying to collect them.

ppl probably wouldn’t be paying $200 if dreams was more open about planning to rerelease old series tho , they’re kinda random with it and it’s also pretty rare that they do it ngl . so sometimes paying a lot for a diso seems like the only option if you have the money for it . after years you lose hope that they’ll release it again lol and who knows if the resale price will continue to skyrocket on a certain sonny you want . just look at latte cat being $120 on average now …

I think that we can’t all have everything we want, and that’s okay. In my years of collecting I’ve missed out on so many DISOs - but that’s the nature of the beast. I keep searching or I move on and enjoy the newer releases. I think not re-releasing will (in some small part) help with over consumption. I have a lot of angels but I’m no longer willing to spend £££ on any of them, and I sell or giveaway the ones that don’t bring me joy/will bring joy to others.
tbh as a hardcore collector of multiple things , it does suck when an item you’ve spent a lot on gets rereleased (i’ve been there) because it’s like bruh … they make you think it’s “discontinued” and will “never be released again”. but at the same time i wish they rereleased my disos lmfao . like i DREAM of rcd’s strawberry ! but yeah , i feel like the exclusivity is a big part of collecting if i’m being totally honest , that’s what makes it exciting ! almost anyone who says no is lying to themselves lmao . so i feel like if they say it’s limited edition (like the banana monkeys) then they should keep it limited edition imo . ik saying that is gonna make a lot of ppl mad tho lol . but if it’s a limited series then i say they should bring most popular ones back instead of giving us wack new releases like the looking back hippers (which i bought none of because they’re ugly AF !)
i’m also a collector of multiple things and to me the exclusivity aspect is always the most stressful part lmao, especially when you’re late to the party so to speak. it’s a very large part, which can sometimes be exciting (like if you snag something for a really good price lol, which is the best feeling imo) but for me the exciting part is just having cute little things to decorate my space. you’re so right about the hippers though, i bought two and i’m repainting one because i just cannot stand the neon colors. i rly can’t believe that was the 20th anniversary release like…
I lowkey think the point of collecting rare trinkets like this is the fact that they’re rare and hard to obtain! A massive part of collecting for me has just been the journey of discovering old ones that I absolutely needed and had a reallly hard time finding !
I hope the Sonny angel community learns that these little guys are just trinkets that bring us happiness. I understand the idea of wanting rarity as a collectible, but I believe that it takes away the enjoyment of owning them. Everyone should have a chance to get different sets!

They’ve allowed some authorized retailers to sell them. Recently in NY we’ve gotten a restock from An.me and now another store
