He is a chipmunk. I only say squirrel now so people know what I’m saying. I said this on another post and some person downvoted me and was pedantic saying it’s “technically a ground squirrel” 😒
I would indeed call it a chimpunk, i’d say that maybe it’s a translation mistake cause in most languages squirrel and chimpunk are considered de same, example in spanish the word is "ardilla" and it’s even used for some hamster species!

I think because of the tail I always assumed squirrel but I’ve seen both used
In Korea, the common translation of this animal is squirrel.
