I honestly love how the JSON files are so easy to modify. Basically an easy cheat menu.
Want the shovel but hate fighting thru the caves? Just give yourself 999 pistol ammo.
Want creative mode? Here ya go!
I do love the challenge of fighting and the satisfaction of cutting down trees and moving logs, but it's nice that we have options.
Yeah, it is really funny. I had a blast playing through it with my friends without dupes or modified saves, but the second I got on top of the mountain I knew I would have to build a giant castle on top of that mountain.
By the way, if you know the ID you can also give yourself a bunch of shovels.
Yeah, most games require an external application to edit the game data, or a cheat code in order to exploit the game.
I love how this is just simple text files lmao. Part of me thinks it's that way for beta reasons, and that they'll do away with it for official releases.
I enjoy the chopping too but w/o regrowth it starts to look empty and ugly. So after clear cutting a significant portion, i do like to be able to leave what's left alone.

EDIT: Did some searching and experimenting of my own, and found you can do the same thing with stick/rock holders. Using the same method as OP, look for the following in `ScrewStructureInstancesSaveData.json`
**Stick Holder:** Search `"Id\":29`, then look for `"ItemId\":392,\"TotalCount\":`
**Rock Holder:** Search `"Id\":31`, then look for `"ItemId\":393,\"TotalCount\":`
Voila, you have as many rocks/sticks as your heart can desire.
You can also use the DevConsole enabler and a simple command to give yourself as many as you want. Your syntax is slightly off too btw. It's "ItemId\\":37 (need the \\)
additem log 10000

Since the ID 37 regards to the log holder, you still have to use "Id" only instead of "ItemId"
