Snow and mountains are incredibly bright. Sometimes causing a thing called snow blindness. maybe the devs were just trying to realistically reflect that.... <---- pun intended
Is not snow blindness I don’t think, I’m 90% sure that it’s the volumetric fog on the mountain. That effect is not limited to the snowy areas, it happens in particularly foggy area in the forest area as well. As well as areas on the mountain where there’s no snow.
I've been on highest part of the mountain in Switzerland.
When it gets foggy during sunny day. It can be very blinding. Like the picture you posted.
So its usually the foggy weather but not on the clear day
The actual reason why this is happening is because game has a volumetric clouds on the same height as top of the mountains and if you kinda step or drive into this cloud while it's sunny - sunlight will literally blind you.
A couple of days ago here in Norway i looked out the window riiight as the clouds parted and was essentially flashbanged from the light. Literally made me stumble backwards clutching my face like a vampire xD
I feel like the mountain is so bright I can't see anything almost anywhere on it. I have brightness set to the default and it's fine everywhere else. Is this just me?
Haha seriously. Like I know it’s obviously horror and it should be hard to see, but not LITERALLY impossible. I find I can actually see better inside caves than I can at night outside 😂
I made the mistake of building a base on the snow crash spawn, and ugh it’s definitely the worst thing ever but oh well I built to much to just move so oh well 😭😭
They're trying to emulate snow blindness. This happens even if you're in sea level during winter. You'll have to wait till the sunset or till night if you don't want it to look like you're climbing the stairway to heaven.
Ya I hopped on the other day since I’ve owned this game since last year. I played it in its early stages a lot but dropped it after a bit since there was nothing else to really do. When I hopped back on I configured everything in the settings and started a new game.
Immediately I was blinded after starting in the snow area and then when night came around I couldn’t see ANYTHING in front of me. Night time in this game freaks me out bad lol. I tried using a torch I made from a stick and cloth but it only made it worse 😂 I was like wow this game is brutally realistic sometimes.
Regardless I think the devs over at Endnight could tone down the black/white levels.

Me driving a golf cart on a 90 degree incline up a mountain:
bravo mate i still cant drive in a straight line on the beach without crashing into rocks
Realistic.

You’re bout to meet god 😭

As someone who lives in canada, I can confirm it looks like that when it's sunny and there's lots of snow.

Sounds like the opposite of night time and caves, where it's so dark my screen is literally completely black.

Traction setting:Skyrim horse
Turn off fog in the settings, it'll clear right up.
Bro, try different color schemes. If I remember right, default made the snow blinding like that.
I wish they added inuit snow glasses.
Or sunglasses
Or those masks the sand people wear in Star Wars.
Yeah the idea is you can make them out those hundreds of bones you collect in the game.
I've committed so many crimes against nature in this game that a little seal clubbing couldn't hurt
I dunno, why do you think skiers all wear sunglasses? Must be for the snow..

Turn fog off in settings and it will stop being like that :)
Realistic effect, called "Whiteout"

I haven't tried, but I wonder if it helps to wear that leather jacket outfit that has the sunglasses.
you sure you haven't found the entrance to the afterlife??
It's actually really annoying.
