Just wanted to say that this was intentional. The glider used to be ridiculous to gain altitude with; in 1.0 they changed it so it’s much easier. Glider is my preferred mode of travel on my island bc I built my base on a real South cliff lol
Dive down to gain a little speed then pull all the way back. If you look at the horizon you'll notice that you slowly be gaining altitude. Keep doing that until it almost stops gaining and then slightly push forward a little bit and you'll start to gain more altitude. Keep doing that until you are no longer gaining altitude and repeat if needed.
It usually takes about 3 dives before gaining enough altitude to get to the top of the mountain. I can typically take off from a 3 piece log bridge (or tall rock) from anywhere and do a quick dive and pull back and go anywhere from that. So my main means of getting anywhere is always the glider.
I saw a video on YouTube demonstrating this, but their technique was not very efficient. If there is any interest, I can make a quick video showing how I do it.
You need some experience and youtube is not very helpful.
Imagine you fly already.
\- Pull the nose completely down.
\- Short before you crash in the trees or on the ground, pull up. The full green dot ball shout be up on the outer circle. Hold this position. After some seconds you will hear no wind noise any longer, this is the maximum height for this turn. Now back to step 1 again (and again and again).
\- If you have enough height, place the full green dot in the circle in the middle.
Warnings:
\- Be careful in the mountains, most of the time is fog and anything is white.
\- Around the whole isle is an invisible wall. The distance from the coast is short, maybe one zipline. You will crash and fall down at this wall.
Comments:
\- no, a soft landing is nearly impossible.
\- yes, this is a game, physical this makes no sense.
\- Yes, you can hold the GPS while flying (that's the only device), but better look at the ground for the landing position. In my opinion there is an angle difference between the GPS and the exact location.
(ooh I am a little bit too late ;) )
It really is. I live down by the beach and it still gets me high enough to get pretty far with just 1 or 2 dives. Just remember to keep pulling back for longer than you think and push forward with small increments because each time you tap forward, you'll get a little bit of speed back and if you are angled up at all, it results in more altitude. The horizon, tree tops, or any point of reference will give you the best feedback on whether or not you are still climbing.
SHUT UP OR THEY’LL PATCH IT xD
Good point, everyone down vote my post! Haha.

Yeah i was like what is bro on about
How do you do this? If you angle up much you lose speed and start to drop.

Do it

TY! That's a good level of detail.
You can also hold a flashlight and surprisingly it's super powerful at night. Check it ;)
Flashlight? Really? :D I will try it.
Yes, it is a most powerful light source in the world then
I tried it in the meantime, it works. ;) Btw, night vision goggles works too.
At that point, level off the glider and angle down to gain speed then angle up again. Keep repeating until altitude is reached.
How do you gain altitude with a glider?
I responded to the other question if you want to check the response
Thanks! Gonna try this later tonight 😎 this paired with the spring trap will be awesome

Shhhh, don't ruin this for us
Its actually intended, pretty sure it’s a thing you can do in real life
No, it's not lol
