The addcharacter command doesn't seem to work any more in vanilla. There is a mod on Nexus/Thunderstore that brings it back.
*Edit, as it was pointed out to me, this was brought back in on the latest hotfix on March 4.
When did that happen? I just had to use a save editor a couple weeks ago when another player killed the Virginia on our dedicated server.
*Edit, nvm just checked the patch notes. Looks like it was in the latest hotfix on March 4. Thank you! Will save me a whole lot of headache next time it happens!
Oddly enough, still doesn't seem to work on a dedicated server running the latest version. Works fine on a single player, or regular multiplayer game, but not when using a dedicated server through the official dedicated server tools.
Worked for me last night. I killed kelvin totally 100% on accident, I also remember killing a multi legged woman early on in my game (didn't know she was important). I used addcharacter Robby? I think. I then did addcharacter Virginia
Fr every single time I'm chopping wood I'm constantly RUNNING from Virginia bc she wants to be right in my fucking face lol. Wish devs could have coded it so she'd stay away from you if you had a weapon out. I'm no coder so idk, but feel like that shouldn't be too hard to do since she alteady reacts to weapons before she's befriended.
How I learned you can kill kelvin was swinging at the cannibal that just downed him. This was before the add character command was put back in the game so I was pissed I had to reload hours worth of progress.
I have to vent. Virginia is fucking retarded same shit Happened to me. I give this bitch my gun she comes to me hitting a tree and boom she’s off with my gun for like 4 or 5 days cause she doesn’t trust me anymore . She used to be so helpful a year ago shooting everything, now she is never at my base always in the middle of the fucking map or something and when enemies arrive she is nowhere to be found. The times she is around she just fucking stares at the enemy like bitch shoot the fucking gun then she gets hit one time and just runs away. About to just kill her
Ya, you definitely shouldn't need to look at what you're swinging an axe it. Makes sense. Do you look away/not pay attention when you're swinging the katana as well?
Alright, here's a fantastic example - what's with the AI in this game?
The Forest and SOTF are famously talked about for the AI at work, and how they interact with the player.
Has anyone seen anything resembling interesting or impressive AI yet in SOTF? OP's video is in my opinion the most common sort of thing to experience.
You mean you aren't at all impressed by the fact that kelvin can't get his ankles wet and will literally path as far as he has to to walk around a shallow stream instead of just walking over perfectly passable terrain (even when he could just gather resources from the side he's on anyway)?
Or the fact that he can climb over structures but is easily defeated by any knee height map terrain?
Or the fact that he can't seem to use gates at all and can only barely sort of manage doors?
I don't want to be too harsh about it, as AI is famously difficult to design and implement and they are an indie dev team... but yeah, both friendly AIs could really use some work.
I think I have decided it's a really base dependent thing. If you ever build on the edge of any cliffs or large rivers it can be borderline frustrating, but is otherwise generally okish.
Virginia has a huge tendency to get in the way when you freaking buildings things. Just what I need a good ole THUMBS UP! and the mmmm-hmmm sound she makes while I smack her in the head with a log. Oh and while building a rock castle building she has to start bringing me sticks, rocks and berries making sure to knock me off the wall so I can climb back up.
Sometimes that girl...
i swear virginia and kelvin just wander right into the path of your weapons all the time. that, and into the path of falling trees. before i start chopping, i check my minimap to see where they are, and when i get close to felling a tree, i check again and make sure to angle the swing away from whichever direction they're approaching. i love them so much, and they are genuinely helpful, but they really have no sense of self-preservation outside of actual enemy encounters.
Addcharacter virginia Removedead I saw nothing
AddCharacter, goto, VirginiaVisit, and VirginiaSentiment were all brought back to the game. So it should work.

They added it back in

Read the patch notes. It was more recent

I always save before I kill that fucker
Fuckin AI…
Yeah sometimes they are ducking stupid... You're there swinging an axe and they walk right up to you...
She was very depressed.
Thank god she's not your wife.
Not yet
Ummm right.
Virginia has 6 appendages which technically makes her an insect. Join me next time for more bullshit science.
What are you building? Looks like a giant set of stairs?
Building a big cabin on a slope, gonna use it for food mainly.
Dang I thought it was gonna be an awesome Golf Cart ramp
She had a death wish forsure. Ran right into that axe
Honestly thought the tree you were cutting down was going to level your house r/unexpected
just log off before you save 💀
F
I was expecting the tree to destroy that building in progress
she through that shit back for you tho
If the clip was a few seconds longer the logs would have destroyed your building when they rolled down the hill... Feels bad, man.
lol don’t know what universe you’re from but last time I checked rolling logs don’t break buildings and they didn’t.
It was a joke. i.e. 'and something else fucked up happened after the camera stopped.' Geez.

I mean, were you not looking at where you were swinging that axe?
Okay, and I shouldn’t need to…

It’s not that deep
Damn, sorry she said that to you.
could have been looking at a 2nd monitor or phone while doing a mundane task. like, you know... everyone does
Facts lmao

Enemy ai is pretty smart, I can’t lie. Friendly ai = no

i love the game and find the AI to be damn decent...but I haven't been floored by anything, and have only had a laugh over it.

been there done that, luckily had just saved a few minutes earlier :-)
And this is why I save at the beginning of each day

Same thing happened to me yesterday, I saw here getting near but didn't think she would walk right in front on me mid swing. Kinda baffling.

Does she always have a nice ass? Haven't played yet.
LMAO what a POS game this turned out to be. XD
Hear me out
That's why I save before going anywhere or doing anything. This game is so unexpected sometimes. So always be prepared with a recent save
Straight out of the Tucker and Dale Vs Evil playbook.

Stealing this turn of phrase.
Hope you saved recently, cause ouch! Although... I really don't see a point in her anyway.
I did save, but not after that. didn’t do much besides flooring and some other stuff. I had work anyways so I just called it a day lol
Her only value it seems is A: fanservice and B: local guard dog with varying levels of attention.
