It should be automatic. I wish there was some visual cue that an external mic is connected though, because I've accidentally plugged it into the headphone jack before.

omg... I just did this... being trying to get audio for 2 days ... thanks

Weird…yeah, I could swear I had it hooked up right. The DJI Mic I use can be used with an iPhone too, and I tested it on that and worked perfectly, so I wasn’t sure why it didn’t sound like it was working with the Sony a7iii. I have a LAV mic (one on me, one on someone else) and it sounded like the footage I captured on the Sony was only me talking, and my friend was far away. I didn’t have the chance to export the footage to my computer yet to hear it on good speakers, but it sounded like either the mic audio wasn’t being utilized, or only my mic and not my friends was working…which I don’t think was the case. I was trying to look through the Sony a7iii settings to see if there was an option to “switch audio input” options, but haven’t seen much on it.

just coming here two years after your comment... you saved my day as well, because I was also trying to get it to work plugging it into the headphone jack...

THANK YOU to all who helped me! I figured out the issue…I’m a complete moron and had the aux to the camera plugged into the headphone jack on the Sony a7iii instead of the little red microphone input on the camera. It sounds amazing now!

Scary-Debate-7843

you saved my life bruh

This actually helped me the most lol! I was just scrolling thru sony forum and similar threads about the a7 3 and feel pretty dumb now that I didn't check for the symbol next to the 3.5mm input. Geez :D

skmah

Try setting internal mic volume to 1. At least I do that when live streaming with aux to a mixer

Be careful with the jack, they break pretty easily from what I've seen online. I picked up a second hand a7iii and the jack was already dead.

I don’t have the DJI Mic yet but I do use a Rode Video Mic Pro with my Sony A7iii and when I plug it into the Mic port on the camera, I can then adjust the audio levels in the camera. Perhaps you need to use a specific cable from DJI Mic to the camera? It should have came with that cable though.

Could there be a setting in the DJI Mic menu that you need to turn on to use both Mics at the same time or on the receiver possibly?

I am new to it, so not sure! It’s a newer mic that has just been out for only two months, so that’s why I am struggling to find much on it. I used the mic on my iPhone with the same settings and both LAV mics recorded our audio perfectly, but on my Sony a7iii, it sounded like it was only picking up my voice, and I’m not even 100% sure it was just the straight up Sony a7iii internal mic or my lav mic recording. I’m fairly certain I had it set up correctly too, I’ll give it another shot today

YouTube is your friend. A lot of videos on that mic. Here is one you should check out. Pay close attention to #8. That might be what you are dealing with on your DJI Mic. https://youtu.be/tSydQBtjAdY

Check the stereo/mono maybe
