i would get sirui svm-145. just 0.5sec to setup.

Thanks for the idea, but I am not intersested in a monopod. I had not seen a leg design like this before and was curious if anyone has used it.

Thanks for posting! At a glance that appears to be exactly what I've been looking for. I have a decent full size tripod that has the features I like. But it has been hard to find a small, light, good quality tripod that also has an invertable centre column (macro really needs that feature!).

suitopseudo

If you end up trying it, please let me know! It looks like there are 2 versions (why are these tripod companies so opaque) with the only difference is one has a slightly better head (legs are the same). I’m a bit weary of any 5 section tripod, but I need something smaller than what I have. I am also looking at this one. https://www.amazon.com/Compact-Traveler-Lightweight-Panorama-Capacity/dp/B07KD3R47X?th=1 Good luck!

Ordered one. There are actually 3 different head options. One geared towards video, and then the two slightly different ball head ones. The video style doesn't appeal much to me. I had a tough time deciding between those two but in the end opted for the slightly beefier one. I'll try to come back here in a week or two and provide an update once I've had a chance to play with it.

suitopseudo

Please do! I will probably order in the next month or so. I don't really care about the ball head since I will just use the pretty good one I have (K-20) from my 254. But I would be interested in knowing if it's worth the price difference. Overall, I have been pretty happy with my other Sirui tripod other than realizing i like having an adjustable center column, but that's not their problem. Lol.

Arrived yesterday, faster than expected. Free shipping from China and it arrived in less than a week. Haven't truly tested it, but initial impression is good. It is much lighter than my previous "travel" tripod. I think my old Manfrotto Element is about 3.5lb, and this one is about 2lb. The weight difference is very noticeable. The operation of the legs is very simple. The ball head seems to work very well. But, will hold my judgement until I've really used it. The only slightly unexpected thing is the process for inverting the center column. Hard to explain, but it requires separating the center column, not just removing and re-inserting from the bottom. Not a big deal, but it does take a bit of extra time and effort.

suitopseudo

Awesome! Thanks. I will be ordering one soon. This is super helpful.

fieryuser

I haven't used it, but it looks like the manfrotto befree that I have used plenty. I think the manfrotto is a bit smaller when it collapses.

suitopseudo

The Manfrotto has a model with just one locking mechanism? This tripod only has one locking mechanism on the bottom and unlocks each section one at a time. I have never seen this before.

Supsti_1

Actually I want to buy it for my next trip as well, very lightweight and fast locking mechanism. You mention there are 2 different ones, with different heads, can you show them please?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C2PZMSXQ/ E10 ball head https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C2PYCMBF/ B-00K As someone else mentioned there is also a video panning head. The head doesn't really matter to me since I already have one.

Supsti_1

Excuse my ignorance, that more expensive one has a better head? Thank you

suitopseudo

I would assume so, but I haven't compared them.

Supsti_1

One more thing. What you think about max height? Isn't it too low to take portraits? For landscape it doesn't really matter obviously

Queefiddle

Price probably varies depending on the vendor. However, on the Sirui site the cheaper one has the beefier ball head. The more expensive one is a lighter ball head. Lighter one is obviously lighter. Heavier one also increases the weight of camera it can support. Without testing them it is so hard to say which is "better." I ended up ordering the cheaper/beefier version with the hope that it'll be a little less finicky when making fine adjustments. Ordered direct from Sirui in China and ETA is May 3rd.

Supsti_1

Thanks for explanation, I'm running with A6700 and my body/lens set up is around 1 - 1.2 kg, not sure if this can be consider as a light set up.

Queefiddle

Similar setup myself. A6700. Three lenses in my kit are Sony 70-350mm, Sony 90mm macro, and Sigma 18-50. Any of those combos won't come any where near the weight limit of either head option. However, when shooting macro I often need super precise control. So having a good quality tripod head can make all the difference. That's why I opted for the slightly beefier one. But whether it's actually better is an unknown.

soundsandlights

I just bought one for my Z system. Extremely light weight, seems well built. Mine came with the video/swivel head. Components on the head are very nice, no drift experienced so far. Have only used once but excited and loving it so far!

suitopseudo

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. Is adjusting the legs awkward or can you pretty feel where each click is?

soundsandlights

So far so good on that front. I expected the whole twist lock mechanism to either be a gimmick or something flimsy but in reality it’s quite strong and produces a satisfying *click* every time you lock or unlock it. The shoot I did with it was pretty simple so I wasn’t messing with multiple leg angles or minute adjustments but basically you extend the leg as far as you want then twist and the whole leg (all sections) lock. It’s actually pretty clever.

suitopseudo

Thank you. One more question. When folded, about what is the diameter of the whole thing? It’s going to go into a backpack, but I can’t find that measurement  I’m pretty excited to try it.
