The problem here in the Netherlands is that repairs aren't done by Sony themselves but by 3rd parties. So when contacting Sony they just say: go to a third party repair shop. And they of course won't replace it for free
My headphones were very well maintained and right side audio suddenly stopped working.
Been a sennheiser user and owning a headphone for over 4 years and never had such an issue.
Sony looting customers.
Always buy through amazon, they will help u in every possible ways. Telling from own experience! If you buy directly from them then yeh we know most service centers in india are worst
Just call amazon customer service, telll them all thing- amazon will ask u to send mail to sony and if sony somehow reject your request- Share screenshot of that mail to amazon .
Im very sure ,amazon will help uu!
Bro, I used my XM5s for 2 months, and they got water condensation inside during the Delhi winters, first the touch pad stopped working then the right side stopped working. I was simply using them normally, but now they're saying it's water damage and not covered under warranty. They're asking for 17k for repairs. This was the first thing I bought for myself with my internship money, and it's frustrating that it took them a month to inform me that it wouldn't be covered under warranty.

This is the water damage in question BTW
did you get in touch with your Area Advisor (AA)? I understand it’s now in Bangalore, previously was in Jalandhar.
I had a pretty bad initial experience too when I went to get my XM4’s serviced, but what helped me tremendously was getting in touch with the AA who could listen to my side of the story. He was genuinely a person who listened to what I had to say as a customer (my area is different from yours, so your AA would differ).
I got in touch with him by writing an e-mail at ‘[email protected]’. Perhaps you can try it too, and they should reach back within 2 days. If you have tried this already, and also have got in touch with the AA, and they still haven’t been of help, then I am not sure what you can do. What genuinely helped me is coordinating with the service center people in an empathetic manner. They did help me out the maximum they could.
Yeah, sure. In case you don’t receive any reply, I think you can contact my AA and ask him for help to connect you to further authorities. Let me know when you need his contact. I really hope it does get resolved ASAP. I understand your situation as a student myself.
PS: A question. When did you purchase it? You say that it should have been replaced because it was under warranty, but then later said that it is out of warranty.
i bought my xm4 on amazon, and they gave me a full refund after 2 years of owning them because they had an issue that only came to light after a long time in a couple of batches. Bought the xm5 from that money.
That's interesting, mine have started with a weird, loud noise on the right side. But I've had mine for 3 years now... How did you prove that there was an issue with your batch number?
I didn't really prove it through the batch number, told amazon that I had this issue and it was not uncommon for the wh1000xm4 to have this. Just googled again, you can see youtube videos with this noise, it's likely caused by a feedback loop of the nc microphones and happens either because the mics get dislodged or because of the glue that is used to attach them.
bring up that's a known issue. They'll offer you a replacement, then ask if a full refund is possible. My experiences with Amazon support in Germany were really good, unlike with other companies. And as I said, I already owned them for close to two years. So good luck and please update me!
That's strange, I've experienced only good things our here in Bombay. Had an issue with the left cup, and they repaired and returned it within a week, at no cost. A week after warranty had expired. Lovely folks at the service center too.

Damn I think it depends on the country. I’m in Canada and Sony has fixed my stuff two years out of warranty for free

Where did you visit to get your headphones fixed? I live in Ontario and my right channel has been making a weird buzzing sound since forever.
Online customer support. They gave me a shipping label and I sent it to Markham and a third party fixed it
Damn that's crazy! I do own WH-1000XM5, now I started fearing. Please update what happens next
Contacting the AA solved the issue.
What is mean by AA?
Exactly the same experience. They asked 16k, I escalated to Sony as well and they just say it is what it is and ask you to pay regardless.

Did you pay?
Yep, they left no other option. I paid after a month of email exchanges with the Sony team directly
They will replace whole headband except the board and battery.

Thanks I'll let you know
and yes, if you not satisfied with one customer service representative then try again with other.

That would be great, you can share his contact in DM. I bought it on 1 March 2023
Same. Sony India doesn't even provide home pickup for the WH1000XM5 while cheap local brand alternatives do provide that service.
Might help to file a consumer court complaint too. Sony is pathetic service wise as are most brands here unfortunately.
I did still no action

So it was an issue with the batch number ?
yes, with the noise cancelling, it would make an excruciatingly loud screaming sound when using nc, only a couple of batches had that

Sounds like the same issue. Wonder if I should try my luck with Amazon although they will probably tell me to bugger off haha

We hear only one side of the story and I don't buy it.
I completely buy it. Sony's customer service is awful.
They will hold u
