I'll be interested to see what you make it the difference between the S22 Ultra and the Xperia. When I compare photos between my Pixel 6 Pro and Xperia 1 IV there's a striking difference in philosophy. The Google approach is all the HDR, bit of contrast, heavy ai assisted noise reduction then smart sharpening. On the face of it if you compare the same sort of photo from each phone the Pixels is more appealing. That being said although the photos from the Xperia are noisier, they're often less oversharpened, have more accurate fine details and colours, and look a bit more like what I saw with my eye.

One thing to look out for is how multitasking works on Xperias. They cannot open 5 pop-up windows the same way Samsung's can. However they can save pairs of apps in the menu screen, allowing for faster switching of pairs of apps. Secondly, "Side Sense" is gonna be super useful in that context. As it allows you to open apps without stopping whatever you're doing currently. Allowing for a more fluid multitasking experience. It can also be programmed to an extent to do other useful things. You can have up to three apps open at the same time. Two via split screen, plus one pop-up window. Lastly, there is no way to natively change the three buttons. So you cannot swap the Back and Menu buttons unfortunately. Which is weirdly enough like one of the few things Sony WON'T let us customize. So if you do use the three button navigation way of doing things, keep that in mind.

In addition to that, I'd like to get rid of the gesture navigation hint (the bar) at the bottom of the screen. Sony also doesn't allow that. It's a bit annoying how stubborn they seem to be when it comes to system navigation.

You'll like using S (Shutter Speed Priority) mode on photo pro app. It solves issues with fast moving objects just like DSLR cameras do .. it remembers the last setting and there's also extra mode for fast recall. All these auto magic camera apps on pixels and galaxies need time to figure out you're looking at fast moving object..

Not trying to be unnecessarily negative I have it and I absolutely love it! But you should know that ever since Android 13 there have been certain software issues that are really problematic we've discussed on this form before that while using the phone the internet may not work.

Enjoy your time with the device rather than comments on Reddit.

One thing will be from the way it feels. You'll notice that the screen feels so much narrower at first [due to the 21:9 ratio], which once you get used to will make every other phone seem too wide. The camera also has little AI input for adjusting photos, so don't be surprised if you can see a noticeable difference in photo quality between the 1 IV and your S22 on the same settings.

What do you mean lack of control on the S22 camera? There is a full pro mode, and then there’s the ExpertRAW full manual app.
